St Chinian hosts an excellent market on Sunday mornings and an even better one at Christmas. Take a leisurely stroll around the stalls and admire the fresh produce that lies alongside locally produced metalware and African handbags. Follow up the market with a leisurely lunch in one of the restaurants and take the opportunity to sample at least one of the local AOC wines produced only a couple of miles from where you are sitting.

St Paul de Vence, France

St-Paul de Vence in the South of France is one of the best-preserved and prettiest medieval villages in all of Europe. There is one main lane in the village, and we are going to walk you along its entire length from one end to the other and then back again. This is really very special town. St Paul is a medieval village with stone structures that date back to the 15th and 16th centuries, and it had fallen apart in recent times. Early 20th century it was quite dilapidated but it has been fixed up like new -- it's amazing because the art industry has moved in. There are 50 art galleries here of the highest quality.
You could spend a few days here in St Paul and never get tired of walking through these little lanes. It's quite small -- it's only about a half a mile long and quarter-mile wide, but each little lane is worth a close look. You might even see in the morning come back in the evening, enjoy the different qualities of light and atmosphere. This is a living and breathing work of art.
There's obviously a lot of money that's flowing through this little town of St Paul with these high-end art galleries everywhere and these monies have been put to good use in fixing up this little village there's no graffiti there's no trash nothings broken here and everything is sparkling even the dogs have to be careful where they go they keep the place spic and span so if you want to see an old medieval village that is as clean as today go visit St-Paul.

Chinian Rideout - South of France Part 1

This was another route recommended by RiDE Magazine. I had to take a motorway blast up the coast to Beziers first and then pick up the N112 to St. Chinian where the route started.

Most beautiful village FRANCE: SAINT GUILHEM LE DESERT

We paid a visit to the charming village Saint Guilhem le Désert in southern France. It is considered as one of the most beautiful villages of France.
Saint-Guilhem le Désert is essentially a medieval village located on the Chemin de St-Jacques (St. James's Way) pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostella.
The village has maintained its historic state. Because of its isolation, in 806 Saint Guilhem established the monastery of Gellone here. This abbey along with the nearby Pont du Diable were designated UNESCO World Heritages sites in 1999. If you ever come to France, don’t miss the opportunity to drop by at this lovely place.
