15 Things to do on Santorini, Greece Travel Guide Video Transcript: (Σαντορίνη / Θήρα Ελλάδα):
We got our first glimpse of Santorini aboard the ferry and it was immediately apparent why this place has been linked to the Lost City of Atlantis.
What was once a single island, was destroyed by a massive volcanic eruption, and all that remains today is the caldera rising out of the Aegean Sea.
The first thing that caught our attention were the soaring red cliffs, and atop these, a collection of villages, all painted white.
We imagined we’d spend our week in Santorini just lounging around, but the island lured us out to hike its trails, get lost in its towns, and look back at its history. So with that in mind, in this travel guide we’re going to share with you a few things to do in Santorini on your visit!
The hike from Fira to Oia turned out to be our favourite activity on the island, but we’ll warn you, it took us closer to 5 hours, so go prepared with lots of sunscreen, plenty of water, and a few snacks to sustain you along the way.
Of course, no trip to Santorini would be complete without spending a bit of time in Oia.
Situated on the northern tip of the island and built on the slope of the caldera, this is probably the most picturesque town on the island, and a very popular spot right around sunset.
We had a leisurely ride out to the island and once we docked, we paid an additional 2 Euros and 50 cents per person for admission to Nea Kameni Volcanic Park.
From there we hiked along a gravel path until we reached the top of the crater, where we did a full circuit around the rim.
There were a few spots where we could even see active sulphur vents.
And that’s a wrap for our time in Santorini! We came here thinking we’d do a whole lot of relaxing and not much else, but as it turns out, this is a great island for an active holiday.
Our week in Santorini was spent village hopping, hiking the trails, learning about the island’s history, and feasting on Greek food.
It was the perfect way to end our travels in Greece, and also wrap up our Eurotrip.

Montreal (French: Montréal) is the metropolis of the province of Quebec. Quebec City is the political capital but Montreal is the cultural and economic capital of Quebec and the main entry point to the province. The second largest city in Canada, it is a city rich in culture and history and a well-deserved reputation as one of the liveliest cities in North America. Montreal is the second-largest French-speaking (as a mother language) city in the world, behind Paris. The population of Montreal is about 1.9 million, with 4 million in the metro area. Montreal is sometimes referred to as The Paris of North America.

Ville-Marie borough
Montreal is composed of 19 large boroughs. The most important one in central Montreal for visitors is Ville-Marie, which is further subdivided into neighbourhoods. From West to East, some of its neighbourhoods include:
Downtown — Skyscrapers, shopping, museums, McGill and Concordia universities, and the Parc du Mont-Royal.
Old Montreal — The historic and (dare we say it) quaint riverfront Old Town and Old Port.
Chinatown — The third largest in Canada, filled with numerous restaurants and shops.
Quartier Latin-Le Village — Restaurants, boutiques, cafes, pubs near UQAM in the Quartier Latin, gay bars and clubs in Le Village, and the working class neighbourhood of Sainte-Marie.
Parc Jean-Drapeau — The islands of Île Sainte-Helene and Île Notre-Dame and the Montreal Casino.
Plateau Mont-Royal district
The Plateau — A large, trendy district north of downtown and east of Parc du Mont-Royal noted for its quaint architecture, diverse mixture of cultures and languages, parks, music venues, theaters, restaurants, pedestrian streets, and the location of many summer festivals.
Mile End — The legendary Fairmount and St. Viateur bagel shops, Dieu du Ciel brewery, trendy restaurants and cafés, bookstores, thrift shops, espresso and soccer bars, the Rialto Theatre, St Michael and St. Andrew's church, boutiques and hipsters.

The climate of Montreal is a true humid continental climate with 4 distinct seasons. The city has warm, to very hot & humid summers, generally mild spring and autumn, and often very cold & snowy winters. Montreal gets over 2,000 hours of sunshine annually. Precipitation is moderate throughout the year, with around 2 meters of snow per season.
Montreal has historically been divided into east and west by boulevard Saint-Laurent. Numbered addresses on streets that cross Saint-Laurent start there and increase in either direction; most addresses are given as rue ____ Ouest (west) or rue ____ Est (east). Walking is a favoured way to get around the densely packed downtown and the narrow streets of Old Montreal, especially during the warmer months. Montreal is home to one of the three public subway/metro systems in Canada, the others found in Vancouver and Toronto.

Old Montreal Vieux-Montréal is the oldest area in the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with a few remains dating back to New France. Located in the borough of Ville-Marie, the area is bordered on the west by McGill St., on the north by Ruelle des Fortifications, on the east by rue Saint-André and on the south by the Saint Lawrence River. Following recent amendments, the district has been expanded slightly to include the rue des Soeurs Grises in the west, Saint Antoine St. in the north and Saint Hubert Street in the east. In 1605 Samuel de Champlain set up a fur-trading post at Place Royale (Old Montreal), at the confluence of the Saint Lawrence River and the long-vanished Petite Rivière St-Pierre, adjacent to present-day Place D'Youville and the Pointe-à-Callière Museum. However, the local Iroquois successfully defended their land and the French abandoned their post.
The original site of Montreal in 1642, then known as Ville-Marie, is precisely known. This is the Pointe-à-Callière, a piece of land at the confluence of the St. Lawrence River and Little River. The founder, Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve, built a fort in 1643 called Société Notre-Dame de Montréal for the conversion of the Indians in New France. The company was created by the Sulpician Jean-Jacques Olier and by Jérôme Le Royer (Sieur de La Dauversière) in 1642. The Société acquired sovereignty over the island of Montreal and brought the first settlers to house, feed, educate and care for the Amerindians. Because of flooding, they had to cross to the other side of Little River on the north shore where the Soeurs hospitalières (Hospital Sisters) of Montreal (under the direction of Jeanne Mance) built and operated the first hospital (the Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal).
