Poised in the Peruvian Mountains is the enamoring city of Machu Picchu. Forged by the Incas in the 15th and 16th centuries, it was later abandoned during the Spanish Conquest. Closely fitted stone blocks are the chief feature of the architecture in this isolated location which is said to have been a royal retreat of the time.
Imposing and intimidating, the daunting statues of Easter Island stand as guardians to the eternal sea. Around 887 monolithic stone statues were carved from solidified volcanic ash. One of the most isolated islands in the world, the story of its existence and its statues is still clouded with mystery.
Once serving as the capital of the immensely industrious Chimu Empire, was the metropolis of Chan Chan. This city had a lovely triangular layout, comprising of 10 citadels, surrounded by high walls made of adobe. Intricate design of various animals and birds were one of the architectural highlights of the city.
In the Bolivian region of South America lies a great archaeological site known as Tiwanaku. A striking characteristic of this primordial city is its numerous carved stones and statues. Huge stone blocks and other structures contribute to the captivating architecture of this site.

It was the best cycling route in my whole trip till this time. I cycled from La Paz to Sajama going mostly on unpaved roads. It took me 3 weeks. I visited Viloco, Euakliptus, Cairoma, Rodeo and other little places.
