Khao Yai, meaning large mountain in Thai language, usually refers to an area in the Sankamphaeng mountain range of Thailand which is now Khao Yai National Park. Khao Yai is A UNESCO World Heritage Sit and Thailand’s third largest and one of the most visited national parks. It spreads across four provinces, namely Saraburi (west), Nakhon Nayok (east), Nakhon Ratchasima (north) and Prachinburi (east). The highest peak, at Khao Rom, is 1,351 metres above sea level.

Thailand Travel: Phetchabun
Many say that the province of Phetchabun is the Switzerland of Thailand. Phetchabun has a much cooler climate compared to the rest of Thailand and it is full of mountains and areas high above sea level. Making it an awesome place to travel and hike.
This is predominantly an area made up of Thai tourists, I noticed very few foreigners there so you are able to get an excellent insight into Thai tourism.
We drove all the way from Rayong (SE Thailand) to Phetchabun (North Central Thailand). The drive altogether took us about 8 hours or so.
Locations in Phetchabun that we visited
1. Phra Tam Nak Palace
2. Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew
3. Phu Tub Boek
We spent the night camping on Phu Tub Boek mountain in order to see sunrise the next day. We were not disappointed. Although it was a chilly night in the tent, it was more comfortable than I had anticipated.
Sunrise started around 6.45am and it was simply stunning. Well worth visiting.
