Hi I’m kate from Holiday extras, here at a Stagnated airport hotel that offers something a little different before your holiday.
The Warman’s barn is a quaint countryside retreat, that is ideally suited for couples who are just looking to get away from it all. If you love rural charm, you’ll love this homely 17th century gastro pub. Where you can cosey up with a pint of real ale, or just a glass of wine.
It’s run by local couple Bev and Tommy, and even Marmaduke! Who’ll do their upmost to look after you for your stay.
This hotel prides itself on personal service, and traditional home cooked food. There’s plenty to choose from and it’s sos nice to have well cooked, fresh ingredients, in every dish.
The homely feel doesn’t end there! You’ll be staying in accommodation just across the road from the pub, in one of these gorgeous rooms, in this converted barn.
Just be sure to watch your head with all these exposed beams!
With so much character and such a low price tag, it’s hard to believe this hotel sits right on the hotel parameter. Meaning check-in is just 10minuets away!
Ludwig Leichhardt Port Essington Commemoration
In commemoration of Ludwig Leichhardt & of Port Essington, Northern Territory Australia. Leichhardt's arrival on the 17 December 1845 at Victoria Settlement Port Essington completed the first known overland crossing of the Australian mainland.
2015 marks 170 years since Ludwig Leichhardt & Harry Brown, John Calvert, Charlie Fisher, John Murphy, William Phillips & John Roper completed their outstanding journey.
The usual way to visit this place is by boat from Black Point. Some prefer the overland route as is shown here. However there is no phone reception, no water & no trail markers. The route can be found on Google Earth / Wikiloc.
There is no monument at Port Essington to celebrate these 7 men. There should be.
This was the first of the epic explorations of the Australian interior & because of its success it led the way for Burke & Wills & Gregory & Stuart.

Call it bravery....
Call it utter stupidity....
I did it and alone.. The hospital thats triggered my fancy for over 2 years after seeing various reports from great explorers i did it myself.
It was a great explore inside and despite warnings my curiosity got the better of me.
The hospital inside despite years of neglect, damage & decay is fairly nice a rather decent scale and still intact to say the least and a lot bigger than it appears outside.
Various items or equiptment and other things clutter the rooms and halls whilst having that feel of your being watched is stuck in the back of your mind but despite this call it idiotic or bravery i ventured in......
Although i loved it Nothing and i state nothing could prepare me for what i was about to see upstairs.
The stairs have a putrid smell of poor personal hygiene and urine and crap like a old tramp thats not cleaned his rear or changed his clothes in 10 years (can you imagine that)?
The rooms upstairs are cluttered with large bottles of cider and bottled beer, clothing, manky old matteresses and more so clearer the place is inhabitied by homeless or illegal substance users, spent needled on the carpet and other various items, i ventured in further (sadly no pics i had to stay alert)
Upon opening one door i heard a loud aaargghhhhhhhhh you fucking cunt im going to cut your fucking throat in which i didnt stop to find out who it was or challenge it further......but then who would??

It was one of the first hospitals in the country to buy an x-ray machine and helped thousands of Norfolk patients over its more than 100 year history.
But a Victorian hospital in Thetford closed its doors for the last time yesterday as officials prepared for a new health care era on the outskirts of the town centre.
A question mark now hangs over the future use of Thetford Cottage Hospital with fears that the historic redbrick building will be demolished to make way for housing.
The antiquated town centre facility completed its last appointments before being mothballed yesterday as health officials put the finishing touches to a new £4.5m one stop health shop, which opens next week .
The old cottage hospital, in Earls Street, was built in the late 1800s and was given to the people of the town by the Fison family and William Gentry, who claimed a penny a week for rent. Over the years, the building received many extensions, including an x-ray wing, which was dedicated to the men of Thetford, who died in the Great War between 1914 and 1918.
In 1969, the hospital ceased inpatient beds, but still retained key services such as x-ray, physiotherapy, family planning, and other outpatient clinics until its closure, which was marked with an 'end of era' party last night and attended by about 50 past and present members of staff.
Ruth Chase, bank receptionist and former senior staff nurse, who organised the get together, said it would be a “shame” if the hospital was demolished for housing.
“The cottage hospital is quite small and cramped, but it is friendly and the present members of staff think that the new facility will not have the same atmosphere because it is more spread out. It will be very nice for the patients, but it will take a bit of getting used to,” she said.
The new healthy living centre will bring together existing cottage hospital services, new outpatient clinics such as podiatry, audiology, and dermatology, as well as community dentists, voluntary services, mental health nurses, and a new GP surgery, which will be managed by the School Lane practice.

Although we've visited before, we've never actually stayed at Fakenham Racecourse . . but now we have, we'll be back - its a really great place to stay.

I bought my park entrance ticker here at the Visitor centre and also map and quick reference guide to the entire park.
It like any other place with all the tourist victor centre got to offer.
Kakadu Australia 2011 Part 1 of 2
Kakadu Australia 2011 Kakadu Part 1 of 2 video is about my visit to New South Wales and Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, Australia in April 2011 with Waltzing Matilda lyrics coordinated with images in my photos. This was my 9th trip to Australia and it was great to explore Kakadu, although it was very hot. I flew to Kakadu from Sydney just near the end of crocodile season, however Katherine Gorge was still closed to small watercraft, as there were still crocs in the river, so I couldn't kayak or canoe. Instead I took advantage of a speedboat cruise to explore up the river.
It was the first multi-day tour I took in Australia, and was well worth the money. The German and British tourists that were with us got bored by all the rock painting and aboriginal sites we visited after a couple days, but I soaked it up, as I did the heat. It was in the upper 30s so we made numerous stops at water holes to go swimming. All the photos were taken by me.
The music lyrics are coordinated with the photos for the video. The Part 1 song is Waltzing Matilda by Peter Dawson. The Part 2 song is Come To My Land by Scott (Ringer) O'Brien who was also the Kakadu tour guide.
When one arrives in Sydney from black/white Winterpeg, the colour of all the flowers in bloom is stunning. I use them in the Part 1 video to represent waltzing. I also like to take photos of trees and tree bark, especially eucalypts and gum trees which have beautiful shapes and colours and these are used in the Part 2 video.
In Waltzing Matilda, jumbuck is Australian slang for sheep. I didn't have any photos of Australian sheep so used my photos of a wallabee and rock paintings of Kangaroos and wallabees. Aboriginal people ate kangaroo and wallabee meat for thousands of years prior to the introduction of sheep, so it is an appropriate substitution.
I'll be going back to Australia, and will be visiting more places I have not yet seen.
CREEPY CONVICT PRISON - Port Arthur, Tasmania
Visited the World-Heritage listed Port Arthur Historic Site in Tasmania, Australia's most famous convict prison. Port Arthur is a beautiful site, but has a creepy feel once I learned about the terrifying events that occurred at the prison. From beatings and amputations to intense solitary confinement, Port Arthur had a strange past and was a creepily cool experience!
