Pure nature, less price (but high quality) food, nice people, brand new hostels, and mixed culture temples.

Thailand 2016 #Jim Thompson House Museum, Bangkok
The Jim Thompson House is now a museum in Bangkok. It is a complex of various old Thai structures that the American businessman Jim Thompson collected from all parts of Thailand in the 1950s and 1960s. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand.
As Thompson was building his silk company, he also became a major collector of Southeast Asian art, which at the time was not well-known internationally. He built a large collection of Buddhist and secular art not only from Thailand but from Burma, Cambodia, and Laos, frequently travelling to those countries on buying trips.
In 1958 he began what was to be the pinnacle of his architectural achievement, a new home to showcase his art collection. Formed from parts of six antique Thai houses, his home (completed in 1959) sits on a klong (canal) across from Bangkrua, where his weavers were then located. Most of the 19th-century houses were dismantled and moved from Ayutthaya, but the largest, a weaver's house (now the living room), came from Bangkrua.
The house, at 6 Soi Kasemsan 2, Rama 1 Road, Pathumwan, is run by The James H. W. Thompson Foundation under the royal patronage of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Guided tours are available daily.
La casa di Jim Thompson è una casa-museo di Bangkok, situata nel distretto di Pathumwan.
È un complesso composto da diverse antiche strutture abitative Thai creato dall'uomo d'affari statunitense Jim Thompson (1906-1967?) per raccogliere la sua collezione di opere d'arte. Attualmente è una popolare attrazione turistica di Bangkok.
Jim Thompson, ex ufficiale di spionaggio dell'Office of Strategic Services divenuto un importante imprenditore della seta, era un collezionista di arte del sud-est asiatico. La sua collezione era composta di statue, dipinti e porcellane provenienti da Thailandia, Birmania, Cambogia e Laos.
Nel 1958 iniziò a costruire un'abitazione all'interno di un parco che si affacciava su un klong (canale), acquistando e trasferendo a Bangkok parti di sei antiche case Thai del 19° secolo, molte delle quali provenivano da Ayutthaya, ex capitale del regno di Thailandia. Thompson utilizzò le antiche abitazioni in legno per realizzare la sua casa-museo, aggiungendovi elementi architettonici europei (tra cui pavimenti di marmo italiano). La casa fu terminata nel 1959.
Dopo la misteriosa scomparsa di Jim Thompson, avvenuta nel 1967, la casa fu aperta al pubblico e oggi è amministrata dalla James H. W. Thompson Foundation sotto il patronato della principessa Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Huai Luang waterfall is located inside the Phu Chong Na Yoi National Park which is right up against the Cambodian border and 2 hour drive from Ubon Ratchatani. The falls are 45 meters high, there is a nice sandy beach and big natural pool suitable for swimming.
