Perisher announced today that it has won the 2016 Australia’s Best Ski Resort award at the World Ski Awards.
Located in the Kosciuszko National Park, Perisher boasts 1,245h of skiable terrain across four resort areas of Perisher Valley, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes and Guthega making it the largest is resort in the southern hemisphere. Perisher is home to five award-winning progressive Terrain Parks, hosts Australia’s only Half Pipes and provides loads of unique terrain for guests in Australia including views across the main range to Australia’s highest peak Mt Kosciuszko.
Perisher provides a great on-snow experience for guest’s year on year with a vast multi-million dollar snowmaking system implemented, consisting of 271 snow guns that covers 53.4 hectares of terrain, to ensure guests enjoy a reliable and consistent experience each year.
The World Ski Awards aims to drive up standards within the ski tourism industry by rewarding the organisations that are leaders in their field. Votes are cast by professionals working within the ski industry – senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents and media - and by the public. Voters had to register through the World Ski Awards website or Facebook page and were only allowed to vote once.
World Ski Awards Managing Director Sion Rapson says “World Ski Awards is the only global initiative to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in the global ski tourism industry, and as such our 2016 finalists represent the very best the sector has to offer.”

Over 40 lifts expected this weekend in Perisher
Perisher is expecting to open over 40 lifts this weekend, linking up all four resort areas! The storm last week saw over 70cm of snow fall across Perisher Valley, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes and Guthega and thanks to some great work from our Mountain Operations team, we’re opening more terrain and lifts this weekend! Check out the Lifts and trail status in the lead up to the weekend for the most up to date information.
Perisher is experiencing the best early winter skiing and boarding conditions in years and with more snow predicted to over the coming days, now is the time to get down to Perisher and enjoy these amazing conditions.

Blue Cow & Smiggins to Open!
Be amongst the first to ski or board at Blue Cow and Smiggin Holes when it opens up this weekend!
The Storm has delivered us fresh snow across our four resort areas, offering fresh tracks at Perisher Valley and more terrain options for you to get out and explore. On Friday, Blue Cow will open to the public with skiing and boarding from the Early Starter Double Chair. Smiggin Holes will follow suit on Saturday, providing skiing and boarding terrain for guests to enjoy and plenty of tobogganing and snow play available.
With the storm set to continue into the weekend, keep an eye on the lift status to ensure you’re keeping up with the latest updates.
Beat the post-weekend blues and get yourself back at Perisher to celebrate the kick off to night skiing and fireworks, starting for the season on Tuesday 28 June. It’s one of the many great in-resort activities happening, with plenty more entertainment and fun to choose from.
