In terms of area Sonitpur is the second largest district of Assam after Karbi Anglong district. It is spread over an area of 5324 km2 on the northern banks of Brahmaputra, the lifeline of Assam. The population of Sonitpur district is 1,924,110 as per 2011 Census. It is the third most populous district of Assam , after Nagaon and Dhubri. The demography of Sonitpur district is not entirely homogenous as several linguistic, religious and ethnic communities and groups live in Sonitpur district....

Shots were taken in a day due to limited time. Missed many places, here is a few highlights of the places we visited.
Tezpur is a city and Urban Agglomeration and the administrative headquarters and municipal board of Sonitpur district in the state of Assam in northeastern India. It is considered to be the Cultural Capital of Assam. Tezpur is also known as the Most Clean City of Assam because of its clean and green view. Tezpur attracts every visitor who comes here with its beautiful parks, hillocks, sceneries and well established hotels.

The name Tezpur literally means the city of blood. Legend has it that the original name of this place was 'Xonitpur' ('Xonit' means blood). When the battle between Krishna's army and Lord Shiva, his disciple Banasura's army fought for the rescue of Aniruddha (who was the grandson of Lord Krishna, according to legend) there was so much bloodshed that the place was stained red. This led to the name of the place becoming Tezpur. The Shiva temples in and around Tezpur shows the love and devotions of King Baanasur for Lord Shiva.

Banasura was the eldest of the hundred sons of Bali, who in turn was the son of Virochana and grandson of Prahlada (son of Hiranyakashipu and devotee of Narasimha). Banas mother was Vindhyavali. Bana, the king of demons (asuras), ruled over Sonita-pura. The word 'bana' also means an arrow. He went to the Himalayan regions and performed a penance invoking Shiva's favour. When Shiva appeared in answer to his austerities, Bana begged the god to bestow a thousand arms carrying a multitude of weapons to destroy his enemies and opponents. He also desired that Parvati should consider him as her son. Bana was a great devotee of Shiva and there are several famous self manifest bana-lingas being worshipped in India. Banasura was a powerful and terrible asura. All people, the king of earth, and Devas of heaven were afraid of him. Bana was a follower of Siva. Banasura ruled in present-day central Assam with his capital at Sonitpur (present-day Tezpur). Banasura's wife's was Kandala. Banasura had a beautiful daughter named Usha. Usha one day saw a young man in her dream and fell in love with him. He was Aniruddha, the grandson of Lord Krishna. There was a war between Banasura and Krishna in which Banasura was defeated. Krishna married Usha with Aniruddha and brought them to dwaraka. Banasura moved to Himalayas and devoted his life in worship of Shiva

A travel video of by Nagaon Photographers' Club in search of Nature's beauty at Blue Water Lake of Kathalguri and Hodhodi Waterfall located at Loongsoong Tea Estate in Nagaon district of Assam.
Nagaon is bounded on the north by the Sonitpur district and the Brahmaputra River. On the south, it borders the western Karbi Anglong District and Dima Hasao. On the east it is bounded by eastern Karbi Anglong and the Golaghat district, while on the west it neighbours the Morigaon district.
These two places are excellent for photography and picnic in Nagaon district of Assam, India.One can reach Blue water Lake or Hodhodi Waterfall via Samaguri from Nagaon town. This Waterfall is a lovely place to visit for weekends and day time leisure creation. The waterfall and Tea Gardens around and birds and different species of breeds are lovely to watch. Samaguri is about 25 kms from Nagaon town and Kathalguri is about 10 kms away from Samaguri.
The distance between Nagaon and Samaguri is about 25 kms. It takes less than 30 minutes to reach Samaguri from Nagaon town. The road condition is average. Perfect place for refreshment in weekends.People must arrange their food along with or can cook at site for fresh food.

Most Awaited Day Trip to Shillong on Bike || YoLetsGo || 4k || North East India

Shillong is a hill station in northeast India and capital of the state of Meghalaya. It’s known for the manicured gardens at Lady Hydari Park. Nearby, Ward’s Lake is surrounded by walking trails. North, the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures features displays on the region’s native people. Waterfalls include the Elephant Falls to the southwest. East of here, forested Shillong Peak offers city views.

We went on a bike. We took rent from Guwahati, We booked the bike from their app. Link is given below:


We started our journey around 9am. We visited Umium lake,Elephant Fall, then we had our lunch at Center point, then we went towards Shillong peak..and in the end we explored police Bazar. We had very little time to visit Shillong. However we managed to visit some of the parts of Shillong.

Nameri National Park is a national park in the foothills of the eastern Himalayas in the Sonitpur District of Assam, India, about 35 km from Tezpur. Nameri is about 9 km from Chariduar, the nearest village.[1]
