Frigate Bay Beach - Beaches of St. Kitts
South Frigate Bay, or locally known as The Strip, is the main entertainment area on the island. It is also a beach bar heaven. Over a dozen beach bars line this strip of sand, many with live music, beach bonfires, delicious feed and strong drinks...all just steps away from the calm waters of the Caribbean.
I arrived aboard the Sagitta, a 120ft. tall ship from Island Windjammers ( ). We spend the day relax on the sand and later that night enjoyed a beach BBQ at the Shiggidy Shack.

Howdy! I’m Ryan and I hail from the land-locked, can’t get any further from the ocean, state of Kansas. I moved to laid back southwest Florida in 2001. I didn’t know a single person and didn’t have a job. Risky I know, but the ocean was calling and I had to answer.
I’m a huge fan of Kansas City sports, so you’ll probably see a lot of Jayhawks, Chiefs and Royals attire in my photos. Kansas City is a great town and I’m glad I’m from there, but the coastal life was calling. It’s kind of like Kenny Chesney’s “island boy” song. Check out the lyrics and you’ll see what I mean.
I write because I’m passionate about the Caribbean and the island lifestyle, and it’s my way to share it with you. If it has anything to do with the Caribbean, rum drinks, beach style music, or Caribbean culture, you’ll be able to find it on this site.
When in the Caribbean you’ll find a camera around my neck and note pad in my pocket. This is how I document the experiences in unique and interesting ways and bring it back to you, the Castaways.
Who is Castaway Crystal:
I was raised in Southwest Florida so it’s no surprise that I have a love for beaches, water and nature. As a child, most weekends were spent fishing in the warm gulf waters on the family boat. As an adult, most weekends are spent soaking up the sun on Ft. Myers Beach. Even though I have always loved the coastal life, I don’t think I fully appreciated it until I moved to Nashville, TN. I’m all about experiencing new things, and as a Licensed Massage Therapist I thought it would be amazing to massage some of Nashville’s biggest stars (a girl can dream right?). But I missed the sun and sand too much—and let’s not forget the rum runners! After a year I couldn’t take it anymore, this sun bunny moved back to her coast of somewhere beautiful.
I’ve always been passionate about photography and writing but my passions never really had a purpose until I met Ryan. I couldn’t be happier being Ryan’s first mate and sharing my photos and stories with you. May they inspire you to go after your tropical dreams and wishes. Make a plan…Set a date…Just go!

Saint Kitts and Nevis Drone Flight: Saint Kitts and Nevis is a dual-island nation situated between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Its known for cloud-shrouded mountains and beaches. Many of its former sugar plantations are now inns or atmospheric ruins. The larger of the 2 islands, Saint Kitts, is dominated by the dormant Mount Liamuiga volcano, home to a crater lake, green vervet monkeys and rainforest crisscrossed with hiking trails. Saint Kittss Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is a well-preserved colonial-era military fortress, with cannons pointed toward the Caribbean Sea. At Frigate Bay, on the islands Atlantic coast, lies a crescent beach thats a popular swimming spot. In the channel between Saint Kitts and Nevis, scuba divers explore Booby Island, with its numerous jackfish and snapper. Sightseeing Train Ride on the St Kitts Scenic Railroad.
The Scenic Railway in St. Kitts is an 18 miles (29 km) long narrow gauge railway line along the coast line on the island of Saint Kitts with a track gauge of 762 mm (2 ft 6 in). The original track was laid from 1912 to 1926, to deliver sugar cane from the plantations to the sugar mill in Basseterre. The sugar mill was built by a group of investors in 1912, to reduce the processing cost and increase profitability by applying the principle of economies of scale since the sugar price drop caused by the world-wide introduction of sugar beet.
Saint Kitts, also known more formally as Saint Christopher Island, is an island in the West Indies. The west side of the island borders the Caribbean Sea, and the eastern coast faces the Atlantic Ocean. Saint Kitts and the neighbouring island of Nevis constitute one country: the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. The island is one of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles. It is situated about 2,100 km (1,300 mi) southeast of Miami, Florida. The land area of St. Kitts is about 168 km2 (65 sq mi), being approximately 29 km (18 mi) long and on average about 8 km (5.0 mi) across.
Saint Kitts has a population of around 45,000, the majority of whom are mainly of African descent. The primary language is English, with a literacy rate of approximately 98%. Residents call themselves Kittitians.

Antigua is an island in the West Indies, in the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean region, the main island of the country of Antigua and Barbuda.
Antigua is surrounded by famous tourist destinations such as the French islands of Montserrat and Guadeloupe to the south, and to the north and west are Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Barts, and St. Martin.
The island is about 87km (54mi) and about 281km2 (108sqmi) with a population of approximately 80,161.

is situated in the north-west and has a deep harbour which is able to accommodate large cruise ships.
English Harbor
on the south-eastern coast is famed for its protected shelter during violent storms. It is the site of a restored British colonial naval station called “Nelson’s Dockyard” after Captain Horatio Nelson.
Today English Harbor and the neighboring village of Falmouth are internationally famous as a yachting and sailing destination and provisioning center.
Antigua is best known for its many coral reefs that are any diver’s dream haven. With its rushing trade winds, it is also a good place for sailboats. These winds have also kept the tropical temperature perfect with low humidity.
It’s pleasant and comfortable for any traveler new to the warm tropical weather. Needless to say, the island has its own picture perfect beaches.

It has a popular bird sanctuary which every tourist will appreciate.
A Great Time to Visit Antigua is during Sailing Week,
which is at the end of April and beginning of May, the annual world-class regatta brings many sailing vessels and sailors to the island to play sports.
