South Jutland County is a former county on the south-central portion of the Jutland Peninsula in southern Denmark. The county was formed on 1 April, 1970, comprising the former counties of Aabenraa , Haderslev , Sønderborg , and Tønder . The county was abolished effective 1 January, 2007, when the Region of Southern Denmark was formed. Following the reunification of the region with Denmark, the Church of Denmark elevated Haderslev to a diocese in 1923 and divided the region between the dioceses of Ribe and Haderslev . This arrangement remains in effect.

    Legoland Billund, the original Legoland park, opened on June 7, 1968 in Billund, Denmark. The park is located next to the original Lego factory and Billund Airport, Denmark's second-busiest airport. Over 1.9 million guests visited the park in 2011 and since the opening more than 50 million guests have visited the park. This makes Legoland the largest tourist attraction in Denmark outside Copenhagen. The Legoland parks that have since been built are modelled upon Legoland Billund, most noticeably the Miniland area, which is made up of millions of plastic Lego bricks.

The castle was founded in the 13th century and was expanded since with many functions ranging from fortress, royal residency, ruin, museum, and the location of numerous wartime negotiations. The castle was founded by Christoffer I in 1268 but the oldest remaining part of buildings is the north side facing the castle lake originally built by king Christoffer III .     The Jelling stones are massive carved runestones from the 10th century, found at the town of Jelling in Denmark. The older of the two Jelling stones was raised by King Gorm the Old in memory of his wife Thyra. The larger of the two stones was raised by King Gorm's son, Harald Bluetooth, in memory of his parents, celebrating his conquest of Denmark and Norway, and his conversion of the Danes to Christianity. The runic inscriptions on these stones are considered the best known in Denmark.

    Vejers is a small Danish holiday resort with only 27 inhabitants, but a multitude of holiday homes. Vejers is situated in the former Ribe Amt, and is part of the Syddanmark region as of 2007, roughly 30 km northern of the town of Esbjerg and between the villages of Blåvand and Grærup on the west coast of Jutland. The nearest town is Varde at a distance of about 20 km. The village can be divided into the main area Vejers and the bigger area of Vejers Beach. Vejers Beach is alongside the military base of Kallesmærsk Hede to the south and east, where the uninhabited town Vejers is situated. The abandoned houses are used as military training facilities.
