About Places 2 Go Travel // P2GT
=====================================================
My name is Jay, I live in England, UK. On my travels I'm joined by my good lady, Bronte (most of the time), my Dad (some of the time) our wider family occassionally and my dog when not travelling overseas.
What's This Channel About: It started as a travel diary, as a way to share our experiences with our friends and family. A wider audience took an interest in my videos and things just grew from there.
Why We Love To Travel: As a young adult I was always too busy working to take vacations. My mindset was fixed on building a successful business and this was always justified by telling myself that I'd travel once I'd made my fortunes. By the time I was 30 years old I'd only been on two overseas vacations and did not think I was missing out. Roll forward to 2015, Bronte finally convinced me to book a stay at an all inclusive resort in Fuerteventura. It was an amazing experience and I was instantly bitten by the travel bug and now want to see loads of different places and travel as much as we can.
How frequently Do you Travel : As frequently as possible, currently around seven times per year. We have committments at home meaning we need to fit our travel plans in around everyday life.
Why Are We Not On Camera: These videos are about the places, adventures, experiences and destinations. The videos are not about me / us - I'm not a TV presenter and I have absolutely not desire to be in front of the camera. Whilst not adverse to being on camera it's just not what our videos are about at the moment.
What's in our kitbag: Canon SX540, Canon SX510, various GoPro cameras including the Hero 3 and the Hero 4 Black plus a Nextbase Dashcam and Samsung and Apple cameraphones.
Our Favorite Places 2 Go Travel: Canary Islands, especially Lanzarote & Fuerteventura are big favourites with us because of the near year round sun and relaxing vibes.

5 Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in Hastings
Hastings is an attractive seaside resort popular for its sporting and cultural events, as well as for its association with the famous Battle of Hastings of 1066 (an event that in fact took place at Battle, six miles away). Although its importance as one of the Cinque Ports ended due to a series of destructive floods and repeated attacks by the French at the end of the 14th century, the town experienced another heyday in the 19th century when it became a seaside resort, taking Brighton as its model.

Weekend Trip to Hastings and St Leonards - Sussex Coast Seaside Holiday
This video was created by
St Leonards and Hastings are old seaside towns in Sussex, literally next to each other, about two hours from London. St Leonards & Hastings used to be a second home to European royalty during the summer breaks, but now it is mostly famous for its pier and its fishing heritage. Nowadays, anyone can access the area and a weekend trip to Hastings and St Leonards can be an actual eye-opener and at times very educational.
If you are a computer nerd, you might have also heard of Alan Turing, the grandfather of computing. He lived here as a child and there is now a plaque on the wall of his old house commemorating this.

A Walk Through Hastings, England
Hastings is a town and borough in the county of East Sussex, within the historic county of Sussex, on the south coast of England. The town is located 24 mi (39 km) east of the county town of Lewes and 53 mi (85 km) south east of London, and has an estimated population of 90,254, which makes it the 66th largest settlement in the United Kingdom.
Historically Hastings can claim fame through its connection with the Norman conquest of England and because it became one of the medieval Cinque Ports. Hastings was, for centuries, an important fishing port; although nowadays less important, it still has the largest beach-based fishing fleet in Europe. The town became a popular spot for 'taking the waters' (therapeutic bathing in the sea) in the 1760s, and then, with the coming of the railway, a seaside resort.
Hastings Castle
Sorry about the sound in this video,it was a very windy day.
Immediately after landing in England in 1066 William of Normandy ordered three fortifications to be built, Pevensey Castle in September 1066, Hastings (before the Battle of Hastings) and Dover, a few days after the battle. Hastings Castle was originally built as a motte-and-bailey castle near the sea. In 1070 William issued orders for the Castle to be rebuilt in stone, along with the St Mary's Chapel.
The Count of Eu held the castle for most of the Norman period, but King John ordered that the castle be destroyed to prevent it falling into the hands of the Dauphin Louis. In 1220, Henry III re-fortified the castle.
In 1287 violent storms battered the south coast for many months and the soft sandstone cliffs eventually succumbed to the elements. Large sections of the face fell into the sea along with parts of the castle.
In 1339 and 1377, the town was attacked by the French leaving many burnt buildings which included homes. Throughout the next century erosion was unchecked and gradually more of the castle was lost to the sea.
The mid 16th century saw the castle receive another blow as Henry VIII commissioned that all Catholic monasteries were to be destroyed and this left the site in decay for many years. After that the site was purchased by the Pelham family and used for farming until the ruins had become so overgrown they were lost from memory.
During World War II, the castle received more damage as Hastings was a target for bombing raids. In 1951 the Hastings Corporation purchased the site and converted it into a tourist attraction.
The castle is open to the public between March and October. (Wiki)
