Königstein Fortress , the Saxon Bastille, is a hilltop fortress near Dresden, in Saxon Switzerland, Germany, above the town of Königstein on the left bank of the River Elbe. It is one of the largest hilltop fortifications in Europe and sits atop the table hill of the same name. The 9.5 hectare rock plateau rises 240 metres above the Elbe and has over 50 buildings, some over 400 years old, that bear witness to the military and civilian life in the fortress. The rampart run of the fortress is 1,800 metres long with walls up to 42 metres high and steep sandstone faces. In the centre of the site is a 152.5 metre deep well, which is the deepest in Saxony and second deepest well in Europe. The fortress, which for centuries was used as a state prison, is still intact and is now one of Saxony's ...

Castle Colditz is a Renaissance castle in the town of Colditz near Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz in the state of Saxony in Germany. The castle is between the towns of Hartha and Grimma on a hill spur over the river Zwickauer Mulde, a tributary of the River Elbe. It had the first wildlife park in Germany when, during 1523, the castle park was converted into one of the largest menageries in Europe. The castle gained international fame as the site of Oflag IV-C, a prisoner-of-war camp during World War II for incorrigible Allied officers who had repeatedly escaped from other camps.

Saxon Switzerland is a hilly climbing area and national park around the Elbe valley south-east of Dresden in Saxony, Germany. Together with the Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic it forms the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Saxon Switzerland alone has some 1,000 climbing peaks, as well as several hollows. Moritzburg Castle or Moritzburg Palace is a Baroque palace in Moritzburg, in the German state of Saxony, about 13 kilometres northwest of the Saxon capital, Dresden. The castle has four round towers and lies on a symmetrical artificial island. It is named after Duke Moritz of Saxony, who had a hunting lodge built there between 1542 and 1546. The surrounding woodlands and lakes have been a favourite hunting area of the electors and kings of Saxony.

STOLEN is a town in the district of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge, in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. The Doll Family, a famous circus sideshow act, were born there.
Schloßberg
Schloßberg is a hill just to the south of the town formed of prominent basalt columns. It is the formation referred to by Georgius Agricola when he coined the term basalt.
Burg Stolpen
Burg Stolpen is a castle built on top of the Schloßberg. The first defensive works were built about 1100 and it was first documented in 1222.

CZĘŚĆ TRZECIA:
STOLPEN (pol. hist. Słupno) -- miasto w Niemczech, w kraju związkowym Saksonia, w okręgu administracyjnym Drezno, w powiecie Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge. Leży pomiędzy Budziszynem a Dreznem. Do 31 lipca 2008 miasto leżało w powiecie Sächsische Schweiz.
Pierwsze informacje o mieście jako o twierdzy granicznej na skrzyżowaniu szlaków handlowych pojawiają się w XII wieku.

-Rynek z ratuszem wzniesionym w 1549 roku
-Apteka pod Lwem z 1710 roku
-Kurfürstliches Amthaus (Dom elektorski) wybudowany w 1673 roku
-Kościół miejski wybudowany w 1490 roku na wcześniejszych fundamentach romańskich w stylu pierwotnie gotyckim, odbudowany w stylu barokowym po pożarze z 1723 roku
Zamek Stolpen -- Dominantą przestrzenną zabytkowego miasta jest, pozostający w częściowej ruinie, wybudowany na bazaltowej skale monumentalny zamek (pierwsza wzmianka z 1089), z którym związane są ściśle losy hrabiny Cosel.
