Located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, the creek called Trümmelbach alone drains the glacier defiles of Eiger , Mönch , and Jungfrau and carries more than 20,000 tons of boulder detritus per year.Its drainage area is 24 square kilometres , half of it covered by snow and glaciers. The Allmendhubel is a hill above Mürren, overlooking the valley of Lauterbrunnen in the canton of Bern. Its summit is easily accessible from Mürren by a funicular, the Allmendhubelbahn, which reaches a height of 1,907 metres. A restaurant is also located near the top. In winter, the Allmendhubel is part of a ski area and includes several ski lifts.

The population of the village Lauterbrunnen is less than that of Wengen, but larger than that of the others.

The Staubbach Fall is a waterfall in Switzerland, located just west above Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Highlands. The waterfall drops 297 metres from a hanging valley that ends in overhanging cliffs above the Weisse Lütschine.The stream, on reaching the verge of the rocky walls of the valley, forms a cascade so high that it is almost lost in spray before it reaches the level of the valley. After rain, and early in the season when fed by the melting snows, the Staubbach Fall is a very striking object. The force of the stream above the fall at such times is sufficient to carry the water clear of the precipice, and the whole mass descends in a condition of liquid dust, between spray and cloud, that sways to-and-fro with the gentlest breeze. High above Lake Thun lie the limestone caves of St. Beatus: a marvel of nature millions of years old that never ceases to astonish its visitors.
Legend has it that these limestone caves once served as a refuge for St. Beatus, who it is said drove away the dragon who live there in the 6th century. Even today the Caves of St. Beatus still exude a special power with their gorges, impressive halls and waterfalls. For our little guests there is also a playground with dragon slide. The Swiss Cave Museum features scientific information on the subject of cave exploration.

Up until 1,900 years ago a terrifying dragon is said to have been up to mischief in a large cave at Lake Thun. Only the wandering Irish monk Beatus succeeded in driving away the dragon. Today the marvelous grotto world can be entered without risk.

The St. Beatus Caves, which are located on the northeastern shore of Lake Thun, near Interlaken, lead deep into the interior of the immense Niederhorn Massif. Electrically lighted, easily hiked trails that delve up to 1000 meters into the depths, lead past roaring subterranean waterfalls, through narrow passages and to grottos with stalagtite and stalagmite formations.
