The 3 best multi-day hikes in North-Estonia in my opinion are:
1. The Kõrve Trail (also known as the first sections of the Oandu-Ikla trail). 78km / 48 miles one way. The first section passes thru one of the most beautiful national parks in Estonia –the Lahemaa National Park. Also there are some sections that are closed off for cars for super nice and remote trekking.
2. Aegviidu-Aravete trail (a section from the Peraküla-Ähijärve trail). 67km / 41 miles one way. The section passes thru 2 of my favourite bogs, the Kakerdaja bog and the Seli bog (on the Simisalu-Matsimäe trail). Some parts are a bit of dirt car-roads but other sections are amazing forest and wild nature experiences!
Transportation update: The buss from Aravete to Tallinn does not seem to go as often as I remembered it. It's like really rare now. A wiser way would be to take a bus to Tapa and then take a train to Tallinn from there. Use Google maps directions option with public transportation, it tells you the options pretty accurately.
3. Nõva Recreational Area. 64km /40 miles out and back. Combine two smaller trails with the first part of the Pearküla-Ähijärve trail for some picturesque pine forests and white sandy beaches. Also do not miss the „moving river delta“!
Transportation update: there are some busses going to Nõva, but you have to change buses and walk few kilometers to the trail head. Use Google Maps directions with public transportation option, it shows the possibilities very well!
BONUS TRAIL/AREA! One of the most rugged nature area in Estonia – the Northern Shore of Lake Peipus Recreation Area. The newest long-distance hiking trail that starts from Ida-Virumaa and definitely is worth checking out! Unfortunately the English materials are not available yet (as of October 2018).

It quickly became one of my favourite places in the world, not only for the culture of its people, but for the incredible history behind it that makes it the fascinating country that it is today. A grim Soviet past appears through the cracks and chips from buildings in the old town and beyond, now re-purposed as museums, hotels, and tourist attractions. Over the course of the nearly two decades following the Soviets' collapse, a renewed sense of national pride shines through.

Estonia has 3,794 kilometers of coastline. It is bordered by the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland with a variety of inlets, bays and straits. It also boasts more than 150 islands off shore as well as more than 1,500 lakes and a variety of bogs within its interior. If you like beaches, Kabli is a coastal town in the southwest with a scientific bird ringing center near its secluded beaches.

Ice Roads are real in Estonia. In the winter, the Baltic Sea freezes and ice roads are created for travel between the islands and the mainland. For safety reasons, cars are only allowed on the road every one to two minutes. In 2010 the 16 mile long ice road to Hiiumaa island was open for only 11 days.

The medieval street system from the 13th to 15th centuries is still intact in Tallinn's Old Town. This is the most complete medieval city remaining in Europe with many of the houses still the same sizes as originally built. Perhaps more interesting are the governmental buildings and churches from the Medieval era still in existence. The city celebrates its past with music festivals and gives tourists a chance to become a Viking for a day.

Non-native speakers frequently find find themselves stumbling over pronunciation. Don't worry too much if you find yourself in Estonia having trouble with the language. Just say 'Palun aidake' and someone will lend you a hand. By the way, 'Palun aidake' means 'I need help.'
