Taupiri is a small township of about 450 people on the eastern bank of the Waikato River in the Waikato District of New Zealand. It is overlooked by Taupiri mountain, the sacred burial ground for the Waikato tribes of the Māori people, located just to the north. Taupiri is located near the northern end of the Waikato Basin immediately south of the junction of the Mangawara Stream and the Waikato River. The Waikato River then flows northward through the Taupiri Gorge between the Hākarimata Range to the south and the Taupiri Range to the north, into the Lower Waikato. Hot Water Beach is a beach on Mercury Bay on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand, approximately 12 kilometres south east of Whitianga, and approximately 175 kilometres from Auckland by car. Its name comes from underground hot springs which filter up through the sand between the high and low water tidal reaches. The beach is a popular destination both for locals and tourists visiting New Zealand. Annual visitor numbers have been estimated at 700,000, making it one of the most popular geothermal attractions in the Waikato Region.

The Hobbiton Movie Set was a significant location used for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and The Hobbit film series. It is situated on a family run farm about 8 kilometres west of Hinuera and 10 kilometres southwest of Matamata, in Waikato, New Zealand, and is now a Tolkien tourism destination, offering a guided tour of the set.

Mount Maunganui, or Mauao, commonly known by locals as The Mount, is an extinct volcanic cone at the end of a peninsula and the town of Mount Maunganui, by the eastern entrance to the Tauranga Harbour in New Zealand. It is considered very important and tapu by the local Māori iwi, featuring extensively in local mythology. It is also of significant historical value. The summit is 232 metres above sea level. In recent years there have been several fires on the mountain, in turn triggering a number of replanting efforts. Since Mount Maunganui has been open to the general public it has become a popular location for many activities including scenic walks, jogging and even hang gliding.

Mount Maunganui Māori pronunciation: [ˈmaʉŋaˌnʉi], locally is a major residential, commercial and industrial suburb of Tauranga, located on a peninsula to the north-east of Tauranga's city centre. It was an independent town from Tauranga until the completion of the Tauranga Harbour Bridge in 1988, which connects Mount Maunganui to Tauranga's central business district. Mount Maunganui is also the name of the large lava dome which was formed by the upwelling of rhyolite lava about two to three million years ago. It is officially known by its Māori name Mauao, but is colloquially known in New Zealand simply as The Mount.

NZ biggest Tree!! Bay of Plenty, New Zealand

The Big Kauri (20 min each way): At the end of Springs Rd, just few min out Of Katikati you follow the Tuahu track through native forest for 20 mins to a sign showing a one minute walk to two large kauri. A good all-weather track suitable for all walkers.

Katikati is a town in New Zealand located on the Uretara Stream near a tidal inlet towards the northern end of Tauranga Harbour, 28 kilometres south of Waihi and 40 kilometres northwest of Tauranga.

Huntly section update – December 2018

The Huntly section will form part of the Waikato Expressway, connecting Auckland with the Waikato and Bay of Plenty.

The Huntly section involves 15km of four lane expressway, 4million m3 of earthworks, an 80m cut through the Taupiri Range, over 100ha of forest, bush and wetland enhancement and permanent protection of a sacred lagoon and two pa.

This construction project will connect the already completed Ohinewai section of the expressway to the Ngaruawahia section, which opened in late 2013; and reduce traffic congestion and improve safety within the Huntly and Taupiri townships by significantly reducing through traffic.

Hamilton section of the Waikato Expressway flyover – April 2018

The Hamilton section commences at the Lake Road junction with the Ngāruawāhia section in the north. It then runs south, to the east of Hamilton, connecting to the existing Tamahere interchange deviation just south of Hillcrest.

The Hamilton section will connect the Ngāruawāhia section of the expressway; reduce traffic congestion and improve safety on Hamilton’s local road network by significantly reducing through traffic.

The Waikato Expressway is one of New Zealand's Roads of National Significance.

Summiting the LARGEST active volcano in New Zealand | REBELZ LOG 43

Mount Ruapehu is the HIGHEST point of New Zealand's North Island and also the largest active volcano in the country. Enough reason for us to climb to the top to check out some spectacular views and the crater of the volcano. This hike took around 10 hours. The first part is climbing through the rocks of Mordor and the last part is over snow and ice. Enjoy!
