For more on Phuket food check out my recent video, Phuket Street Food: 8 Things You Should Try in 2019 here:
All of the dishes in this video are common as Thai street food, but you will also find many of them at Thai restaurants. You’ll find Thai street food on many street corners in Thailand, as well as at every market, be it in Phuket, Krabi, Bangkok or Pattaya. Thai food has taken many influences from Chinese food so you will find many familiar flavours. Thai food markets and night markets are some of the best places to buy fresh and authentic Thai food while you travel in Thailand. There are loads of Thai food markets and night market all over Thailand, you’re never far from one. At the markets you'll find so many Thai dishes on offer and the foods here are cheap, and so tasty! And in case you’re worried, eating Thai street food is perfectly safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it nearly daily since April 2012 in Thailand and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!

The markets in Thailand are also a great place to get an insight into Thai culture while you travel in Thailand. You can shop alongside the locals and learn what they buy and eat. And the markets are a great place to try traditional Thai street foods, learn Thai recipes and cooking, as well as eat some of the best Thai dishes in Thailand. You'll see the people cooking the food right in front of you. And best of all, the food is cheap, often much cheaper than eating in a Thai restaurant. Eating at markets is a good way to eat cheap on your Thailand holidays.

Make sure you check out some Thai food markets on your trip to Thailand, and be sure to sample some of the amazing Thai street food that's available in Thailand! If you want to try some of the most delicious food in the world be sure to visit Thailand!

Thai Street Food in Bangkok with The Food Ranger - AUTHENTIC Local Tour! กินอาหารไทย4ภาคในหนึ่งวัน
Trevor James (The Food Ranger) and Mark Wiens go on a Thai street food tour in Bangkok!
►Subscribe to Trevor’s channel:
►Subscribe to Mark’s channel:
If you have one full day in Bangkok and want to go on an all out extreme Bangkok food tour to eat all four of the major Thai regional cuisines, this is the do-it-yourself food tour you want to take.
Trevor and I met up early in the morning, and we first drove over to Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง), which by the way is amazing Thai street food market in Bangkok. We just parked there though, and then continued on walking to our first restaurants.
►Check out the blog post for more details about all the restaurants we ate at at details about how you can go there:
1. Southern Thai Food (อาหารใต้) at Ruam Tai Restaurant (ร้านรวมใต้)
Ruam Tai Restaurant (ร้านรวมใต้) is one of my favorite southern Thai food restaurants in Bangkok. They serve a huge selection of curries, and you can pretty much point and choose to whatever Thai dishes you want to try. Highlights for Trevor and I were the sour curry with taro stems (แกงส้มออดิบ) and definitely the fish entrails curry (แกงไตปลา gaeng tai pla). All the dishes are full of spice and flavor. While walking back through Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง) we stopped real fast to taste some khanom tungtaek (ขนมถังแตก), a famous sweet waffle at the market.
2. Isaan (Northeastern) Thai Food (อาหารอีสาน) at Som Tam Jay So Restaurant (ร้านส้มตำเจ๊โส)
Next up on this Bangkok Thai street food tour, we headed to Som Tam Jay So Restaurant (ร้านส้มตำเจ๊โส) for Isaan food, which is from the Northeastern region of Thailand. At this restaurant you’ll get the true taste of Isaan, especially when it comes to their salads. Trevor and I both had a few tears of joy from eating our plate of green papaya salad with fermented fish (ตำปูปลาร้า tam boo plaraa). The food was amazing as always, and I always leave extremely happy.
3. Northern Thai Food (อาหารเหนือ) at Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อ.ต.ก.)
Northern Thai food is very underrepresented in Bangkok, and we wanted a street food environment, so we decided to go to Or Tor Kor Market, which is a gourmet Thai food market in Bangkok. There’s a stall called Pen Jan Northern Food (ร้านเพ็ญจันทร์) which serves the full selection of Northern Thai dishes, and probably the best dish we tried was their pork hanglay curry (แกงฮังเล).
4. Central Thai Food (อาหารภาคกลาง) at Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu (ร้านต้มยำกุ้งบางลำพู)
Finally to complete this one day Thai street food tour of Bangkok we needed to eat Central Thai food. There are so many Central Thai dishes, but one of the most well known is tom yum goong, a shrimp soup. I think one of the best places to eat tom yum goong in Bangkok is Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu (ร้านต้มยำกุ้งบางลำพู), and it never fails to impress. The tom yum was amazing, as was the omelet and other dishes we ordered.
That completes this one day Thai food tour of Bangkok. If you want to do-it-yourself, check out all the details on this blog post:

Ho Chi Minh City Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Ho Chi Minh City, on the southern tip of Vietnam, is one of South East Asia’s emerging boom cities. Still affectionately known by many as Saigon, this is Vietnam’s largest city and its economic engine room.
Ho Chi Minh City has an irrepressible soul and an entrepreneurial energy that hums day and night. Despite almost a century of colonialism and brutal conflict, today this city is renowned for its warm hospitality, which even extends to former foes. A youthful enthusiasm flows through this city, just like the stream of scooters, motorbikes and cars that flow endlessly through its chaotic streets.
In Ho Chi Minh City, it feels as though the future has arrived… and yet the past is never far away. Wide boulevards built during the French colonial era are lined with cutting edge skyscrapers, while jasmine scented temples gently rub shoulders with chic rooftop bars
More than 9 million people call Ho Chi Minh City home and the dynamic energy of its streets is part of its charm. The city is divided into a series of numbered districts and District One is where almost all of the city’s main attractions can be found.
As the sun goes down, find yourself a seat at one of Ho Chi Minh City’s famous rooftop bars, a perfect way to soak up the buzz of the city.
Dynamic, chaotic and energizing. Ho Chi Minh city may have burst onto the world stage as a battle zone but today, there is no better destination to plug in to the pulse of 21st century Asia.

23 Things To Do In Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam
►Read 23 Things to do in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam:
►FREE eBook:
When I was in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), along with eating as much Vietnamese food as I could, one of my goals was to film a travel video about some of the best things to do in Saigon. After putting together a complete list, it turned out to be 23, and I hope this list of attractions will help and inspire you to visit Vietnam’s largest and most exciting city.
1. Binh Tay Market - Binh Tay Market is one of the largest wholesale distribution markets, and a perfect place to go if you’re looking to go shopping in Ho Chi Minh City.
2. Thien Hau Temple (Pagoda) - Located in Chinatown, in District 5, the temple is dedicated to Thien Hau and I really loved the sculptures and the elaborate design of the temple.
3. Museum of Ho Chi Minh City - This museum offers a glimpse into the history and development of the city and Vietnam.
4. Bitexco Financial Tower - This is the tallest building in Saigon, and you can either go to the Skydeck or a cafe at the top for a view of the city.
5. Independence Palace (Reunification Palace) - Probably one of the most well known tourism things to do in Saigon is to visit the Independence Palace, the the former home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
6. Saigon Cathedral of Notre Dame - With the French influence in Vietnam, the Notre Dame cathedral is a beautiful Catholic church. Attend a service or just visit.
7. Central Post Office - Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is an attraction mainly for its design and architecture. It’s a beautiful building.
8. War Remnants Museum - Although this is not one of the happiest attractions in Saigon, it’s a place to remember and honor the horrible events that are a result of a war.
9. Opera House - Right in Dong Khoi area, and there are still opera shows available.
10. Dong Khoi Street - This is the height of high end shopping in Saigon.
11. Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens - The zoo itself is not too great, but the beauty of the Saigon zoo is the botanical gardens, and the lush gardens, and taking a break from the city.
12. FITO Museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine) - I was quite impressed by the Vietnamese medicine private museum - very interactive and educational.
13. San Art Laboratory – If you love modern art, the San Art Laboratory is a great place to see and visit in Saigon.
14. Turtle Lake at Night - If you’re looking for some things to do at night in Saigon, head to Turtle Lake to chill out, relax, hang out with friends, and eat snacks.
15. Ben Thanh Market - One of the most famous things to do in Saigon District 1 is visit the Ben Thanh Market, one of the major central landmarks of the city.
16. Phu My Hung and Starlight Bridge - Located outside of central Ho Chi Minh City, Phu My Hung is a modern development, and a great place to walk around.
17. Water Puppet Show - Though originally from the north of Vietnam, water puppet shows are popular also in Saigon. I went to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet theater.
18. Museum of Vietnamese History - Probably one of the most extensive and important museum showing the history of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
19. Rooftop Bar - Seeing Saigon from above offers a great perspective.
20. Fine Arts Museum - This was my favorite of all the museums in Saigon. The museum is housed in a well preserved building, and the art is amazing - located right in District 1 across the roundabout from Ben Thanh Market.
21. Jade Emperor Pagoda - Dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the pagoda has a real ancient feel to it, and it’s worth seeing when you visit.
22. Local Wet Market - One of my favorite things to do is visit a local fresh wet market, which you’ll find all over the city. The ingredients, food, and culture, all stand out at fresh markets.
23. Vietnamese Street Food - By my ultimate favorite activity in Saigon is eating street food, and there are an abundance of delicious Vietnamese street foods to sample.
Thank you for watching this video about the top 23 things to do in Saigon, Vietnam. I hope it has given you some great ideas to help you plan your visit.

Fiery Papaya Salad at Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก) - Bangkok Day 5
2 Weeks In Bangkok eBook (it’s FREE):

Dwight’s (BKK Fatty) Channel:
Cat’s Channel:
On Day 5 we checked out of our hotel at Khao San Road and transferred to Sathon, which is one of the main downtown financial districts of Bangkok. From there, we headed to Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก), which is one of the best food markets in Bangkok, and then went on to Chatuchak Weekend Market (ตลาดนัดจตุจักร) to do some walking around with Dwight.
00:47 Som Song Pochana (ร้านสมทรงโภชนา) - Before leaving Khao San Road, we stopped at a restaurant called Som Song Pochana (ร้านสมทรงโภชนา) to have a bowl of kuay teow Sukhothai haeng (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวต้มยำสุโขทัยเส้นเล็กแห้ง).
5:15 Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก) - Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก) is one of the best Thai food markets in Bangkok - it’s a very nice and clean market, and there’s a really good mixture of both fresh vegetables and fruit for sale, as well as a good sized food court where you can sit down and choose from all sorts of different things. The market is a little on the expensive side compared to other fresh markets in Bangkok, but the food is known to be very high quality, and you can get some of the best ingredients and fresh fruits in all of Thailand. Along with Dwight, I started off with khanom buang (ขนมเบื้อง), a Thai dessert that is a small pancake crepe filled with a variety of different toppings. I’m not a huge sweets fan, but they were alright. We then proceeded on to eat a plate of rice and curry, khao gaeng (ข้าวแกง), which was delicious. For my main meal at Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก) this day, I went to a stall called Som Tam Or Tor Kor Restaurant (ร้านส้มตำ อตก), which specializes mainly in Thai green papaya salad and grilled chicken. I ordered a fiery plate of som tam boo pla ra (ส้มต้มปูปลาร้า), Thai green papaya salad with fermented fish and crab - it was incredibly delicious and incredibly spicy! I also had a full gai yang (ไก่ย่าง), grilled chicken, which was incredibly good as well. Finally, Dwight came to the table with some durian and mangosteen, which is always a good thing to eat when you go to Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก).
16:18 Right across the MRT station from Or Tor Kor Market is Chatuchak Weekend Market (ตลาดนัดจตุจักร), one of the most famous attractions in all of Bangkok. After getting some much needed water, I then had some kai pla meuk tod (ไข่ปลาหมึกทอด), which are fried squid eggs, and they are quite a popular snack at the market. They are fried in lots of oil, and then covered in a chili garlic sauce. They kind of remind me of eating egg yolks, they are definitely pretty rich, and with the chili sauce they are pretty good.
22:48 Stall at Silom Soi 9 (สีลมซอย 9) - For dinner we met up with a friend who took us to one of his favorite stalls on Silom Soi 9. We were with a group and we ordered up a bunch of different dishes including goong pad pongari (กุ้งผัดผงกะหรี่) - shrimp in yellow egg curry, meuk pad cha (หมึกผัดฉ่า) - squid with fingerroot, potaek talay (โป๊ะแตกทะเล) - seafood soup, kana moo krob (คะน้าหมูกรอบ) - kailan with crispy pork, moo manao (หมูมะนาว) - sour lime juice pork, neua dad diaw (เนื้อแดดเดียว) - dried fried pork, and finally a kai jeow moo saab (ไข่เจียวหมูสับ) - Thai style omelet for dessert to top everything off.
Thank you for watching Day 5 in this Bangkok travel guide video series!
