Phu Chi Fa:
One of the most famous destinations uphill in Chiang Rai, especially during winter time, when visitors try to reach its cliff that offers spectacular views of the valley and sea of mist at sunrise. Phu Chi Fa is blessed with breathtaking views, abundant flowers of all colors, and cool weather most of the year. Plus, it is not far, located approximately 25 kilometers south of Doi Pha Tang in Thoeng District.
Doi Pha Tang (ดอยผาตั้ง):
About 160 kilometres from the Chiang Rai town, is a viewing point on top of a high cliff over the Thai-Laotian border affording a delightful scene for the river and the sea of mist throughout the year. In Thai, Doi means “Hill”, Pha means “Cliff” and “Tang” means standing vertically. When combined them together, you get the meaning what it means. The name is given after the appearance of hills here that are very steep. Doi Pha Tang is tucked away in the Northern part of the country, and it is an area that remains tranquil and beautiful and offers some of the most stunning views of any place in Thailand.

Outstanding free national park Chiang Rai Northern Thailand
Bry and I went exploring into uncharted territory's in the hills, we found the most beautiful lake set in a national park, along side of the lake is a Mountain bike / BMX track I thought it was a scrambling track but not! The northern most province of Thailand, Chiang Rai is situated on the Kok River basin 416 metres above sea level. With an area of some 11,678 square kilometres. It is about 785 kilometres form Bangkok. Mostly mountainous, it reaches the Mae Khong River to the north and borders on both Myanmar and Laos.
The province is rich in tourism resources in term of natural attractions and antiquities, evidence of its past civilisation. It is also home to serveral hilltribes who follow fascinating ways of life. Chiang Rai is also a tourism gateway into Myanmar an Laos.
Chiang Rai is administratively divided into the following districts: Muang, Phan, Thoeng, Mae Chan, Mae Sai, Wiang Pa Pao, Chiand Khong, Chiang Saen. Pa Daet, Wiang Chai, Phaya Mengrai, Wiang Kaen, Mae Fa Luang, Khun Tan, Mae Lao, Wiang chiang Rung and Doi Luang.
