Chatham, Ontario: Downtown Driving Tour (June, 2019)
A driving tour through the downtown core of Chatham, Ontario. The population of Chatham proper is just under 45,000. This is now part of the municipality of Chatham-Kent, which includes Wallaceburg, Blenheim, Ridgetown, Wheatley, Dresden and Tilbury.
The city is located just off highway 401, 83 kilometres east of Windsor.

HWY 401 - ONTARIO/QUEBEC BORDER - AUTOROUTE 20
In the video, Highway 401 at its eastern-most-end location, it all starts in Windsor, Ontario and Ambassador Bridge and continues for 825 km (515 miles) all the way to Quebec Border when it turns to AutoRoute 20 Quebec.
With this video starts another beautiful road trip vacation, ~10 videos of French North America, I'll try to U/L one video per week, Quebec is a pretty big place to cover in just few videos.

CityPlace: Puente de Luz Bridge
December 05, 2012: We take a walking tour of the Puente de Luz Bridge over the rail corridor from City Place to Portland St and Front St. Looks like it finally open considering it was close after official ribbon cutting in Oct. due safety concerns.
The mesh was never part of the original plan, but Metrolinx want it as a suicide prevention to not interfere with its GO Transit trains service. If more though and money went into this suicide prevention, the final project would look a lot better as well open months early.
The lack of stair on the east side add more walking and time to get over the rail corridor.
This bridge is also known as the Portland Bridge due to the fact it connects to it that required traffic lights being installed for it.
We will see some of the clips holding the mesh together that had to be fix or replace before the bridge could be open to the public.
If this mesh wasn't there, the bridge would be a great photographing location for the rail corridor as well the skyline. We can see that issue with a few GO Transit trains heading eastbound for start of service at Union Station. Also seeing the CN Tower threw this mesh.

- How do you afford to travel constantly?
A: I live in a van, which certainly cuts costs down but still I need to make some money in order to afford to continue, currently I make 90% of my income through working as a photographer/videographer. I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance.
- How much does it cost?
I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work.
- What camera do you use?
Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights.
- What is your van?
1992 Dodge B350 Travelhome with the 5.9L TBI gas engine. I spent $3500 buying it and so far another $9000 in repairs upgrades and maintenance.
- What're your plans?
Travel forever. The Arctic this summer, Asia next winter, Sailboat the world after. I want to see this whole world, and I'm playing it all by ear.
- How do you find all these cool places?

- What do you do for Internet?
I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna ( and a data package on my phone (10GB)
- How do you live in a van with a dog?
It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. In colder climates I set the furnace on at minimum and close down all the windows same as for heat minus venting.
- What happened to the girl?

- Are you rich or something?
definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible.
- Why don't you have 10x more subscribers?
My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharring my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time.
Gastown Vancouver
History
Gastown was Vancouver's first downtown core and is named after Gassy Jack Deighton, a Yorkshire seaman, steamboat captain and barkeep who arrived in 1867 to open the area's first saloon. The town soon prospered as the site of Hastings Mill sawmill, seaport, and quickly became a general centre of trade and commerce on Burrard Inlet as well as a rough-and-rowdy resort for off-work loggers and fishermen as well as the crews and captains of the many sailing ships which came to Gastown or Moodyville, on the north side of the inlet (which was a dry town) to load logs and timber. The Canadian Pacific Railway terminated on piles on the shore parallel to Water Street in 1886. From this the area became a hive of warehouses. Part of Gastown, that of Carroll Street was particularly swampy owing to it being low ground between False Creek and Burrard Inlet. Bridges overcame this obstacle and the low ground and beach was slowly filled in with refuse. In 1886, the town was incorporated as the City of Vancouver. It fell victim to the Great Vancouver Fire that same year, losing all but two of its buildings. The area was completely rebuilt and continued to thrive. As said Hastings and Main was the traditional centre of town, and the foreshore became an important staging area with the North and West Vancouver Ferries, and Union Steamships all having docks there. Evans, Coleman, Evans a longtime merchandiser had a warehouse; also, Fleck Brothers, and Koret distributors had buildings. Department stores such as Spencer's, Hudson's Bay Company warehouse, Woodward's, Fairbanks Morse, Army and Navy stores, and food retailers Malkins and Kelly Douglas traded and were based there.
Gastown found new life as the centre of the city's wholesale produce distribution until the Great Depression in the 1930s. It also was centre of the city's drinking life (there were 300 licensed establishments the twelve-block area of the former Granville, B.I.) After the Depression Gastown was a largely forgotten neighbourhood of the larger city and fell into decline and disrepair until the 1960s. It was a continuation of the Skid Road area with cheap beer parlours, flophouse hotels, and loggers hiring halls.
In the 1960s, citizens became concerned with preserving Gastown's distinctive and historic architecture, which like the nearby Chinatown and Strathcona were scheduled to be demolished to build a major freeway into the city's downtown. A campaign led by businessmen and property owners as well as the counterculture and associated political protestors, pressured the provincial government to declare the area a historical site in 1971, protecting its heritage buildings to this day. A riot between the hippies and the police in 1971 over marijuana has gone into legend, the incident now made public on the Woodwards building, a throw-back to the more serious Post office riot of 1938.

FLOODED OUT! in Brantford Ontario - DRONE COVERAGE DJI INSPIRE
February 2018 drone coverage by DJI Inspire drone. Footage was taken shortly before declared a disaster by flooded out water of the Grand RIver in Brantford, Ontario Canada.
Drone footage covers the Lorne Bridge, Wilkes Dam and The Oxbow (great place for kayaking and canoeing) areas of Brantford. We couldn't keep the drone up long or go for any complex fights as the batteries were extremely low as we were not prepared for this flight.

(flooding was everywhere including London, Ontario, Chatham, etc. The waters flooding in Brantford came as a result of a large sinkhole in Cambridge, Ontario Canada which caused flooding and high waters in Cambridge which the Grand River flows into Brantford.... this is what can happen..)
