Charlotte is the largest city in the U.S. state of North Carolina, the seat of Mecklenburg County, the second largest city in the Southeastern United States, just behind Jacksonville, Florida, and the third fastest-growing major city in the United States.[3] In 2014, the estimated population of Charlotte according to the U.S. Census Bureau was 809,958,[4] making it the 17th largest city in the United States based on population. The Charlotte metropolitan area ranks 22nd largest in the US and had a 2014 population of 2,380,314.[1] The Charlotte metropolitan area is part of a sixteen-county market region or combined statistical area with a 2014 U.S. Census population estimate of 2,537,990.[5] Residents of Charlotte are referred to as Charlotteans. It is listed as a gamma-plus global city by the [Globalization and World Cities Research Network]].[6]
Charlotte is home to the corporate headquarters of Bank of America and the east coast operations of Wells Fargo, which among other financial operations makes it the second largest banking center in the United States.[7] Among Charlotte's many notable attractions, some of the most popular include the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL), the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA), 2 NASCAR Sprint Cup races and the NASCAR All-Star Race, the Wells Fargo Championship, the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Carowinds amusement park, and the U.S. National Whitewater Center. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is a major international hub, and was ranked the 23rd busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic in 2013.[8]
Nicknamed the Queen City,[9] Charlotte and its resident county received its name in honor of Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who had become queen consort of Great Britain the year before the city's founding. A second nickname derives from the American Revolutionary War, when British commander General Cornwallis occupied the city but was driven out by hostile residents, prompting him to write that Charlotte was a hornet's nest of rebellion, leading to the nickname The Hornet's Nest.
Charlotte has a humid subtropical climate. Charlotte is located several miles east of the Catawba River and southeast of Lake Norman, the largest man-made lake in North Carolina. Lake Wylie and Mountain Island Lake are two smaller man-made lakes located near the city.

It's an excellent place to gather to watch the 60” flat screen satellite TV, and blue ray player connected to wifi so you can watch netflix, Hulu, listen to Pandora, check Facebook and many other choices. High speed wireless internet is available throughout the home as well as unlimited local and long distance telephone.
The fully equipped kitchen with quartz countertops is stocked with everything a chef needs to prepare the simplest meal or a holiday feast. The dining area has seating for six with extra chairs, as well as additional seating at the kitchen table.
Also on the main level, you'll find a large suite with King bed, flat screen satellite TV, and private Jacuzzi bath and shower. This suite also has access to the deck overlooking the river.
There is another covered deck on the opposite side of the main level, just past the half bath and laundry area, that is great for going to and from the outdoor 6 person hot tub under the stars.
Upstairs you'll find a loft overlooking the main level living area, plus 3 more bedrooms. The first is a queen suite with flat screen TV and private bathroom with shower. Next is a room with a set of twin bunks and a separate single twin with a private half bath and a shared shower and tub. And third is another queen suite attached to the shared tub and shower with a private half bath and flat screen satellite TV.
The lower level has access to its own covered deck overlooking the river with plenty of seating to relax and listen to the river below. For your convenience, an electric grill is also available. There you'll enjoy the large recreation room with regulation size pool table, mini-fridge and microwave, a game table for checkers or chest, puzzles and games, a dart board, and a 42” flat screen TV and blue ray player, with plenty of seating including a sleeper sofa, and wood burning stove. Another bedroom with a queen size bed is located on the lower level with private access to the lower covered deck and the river. A separate full bath with a walk-in shower is located there as well.
Just outside the home is a steep and rugged, but scenic trail. It passes by enormous stone formations and picturesque spots as you make your way down to the banks of the New River. Or you can take an easier route down the road to the bridge. A lovely walk either way. Enjoy evenings around the above-ground fire pit at the edge of the driveway.
