Cold Winter Weather Travel to Oymyakon, Russia's Siberia. 103's Sakham Sire song
OYMYAKON TOURISM. ... This winter travel was arranged for friends of mine in Jan 2010. Slideshow with photographs of cold winter weather in Oymyakon, Siberia / Russia.
The lowest temperature we registered during the journey was -57.1C in the early morning. We were said there were -60 degrees Celcius at night, but we, frankly, overslept it.
In the video you'll see the following settlements: Cherkekh (outdoor museum), Khandyga (w/ guesthouse and church), Teplyj Klyuch (right before mountains), Kyubyume (gas station in the night), Tomtor (horse breeding farm, store, sports house, Chyskhaan Ice Tunnel, etc) and Oymyakon (you'll identify it quickly).
Unfortunately, the soundtrack is 6 min only, and the text says about groing to the south, but we went to the east in the deep north :)
What we saw on the way back from Oymyakon, see in the related video The World's Coldest Road. Kolyma Highway in Siberia, Russia
Photographs are mine.
The song Sakham Sire (My Yakutia) is performed by the Yakutsk-based rock band 103 in the Sakha language.

World's Most Dangerous Roads
Just started driving!? Here are 5 Dangerous Roads that you might want to avoid!
*- Guoliang Tunnel Road, China
This road connects the village of Guoliang to the outside. Running through the Taihang Mountains, it is only 1.2 km long. The road was carved by some local villagers in 1972. Many lost their lives during construction. This narrow dangerous road is a tourist attraction. It is because of lots of twists & turns and bad driving habits.
Source of video:
* Dalton Highway, Alaska
This highway runs through Alaska and is 666 km long. This dangerous and very long road is far from civilization. You share the road with almost nothing but trucks. During winter, winds & slippery road can be your biggest enemy.

* Old Summary Road (Russia)
This road covers about 420 km of the famous “Road of Bones”. It connects Kyubeme to Kadykchan via Tomtor. As a new road was built few years ago, this road is now abandoned. It is not maintained any more so it is a big challenge for drivers. Nowadays it is mostly used by adventurists.

* Kabul-Jalalabad Road, Afghanistan
This road connects the city of Jalalabad to Kabul. It is roughly 65 km long. Unsafe driving has made this road a very dangerous one.

Yungas road, Bolivia
This 60 km road connects La Paz to Coroico. It is known as the “Death Road”, as more than 200 people are killed each year. It is mostly single-lane and doesn’t have guardrails. It has cliffs up to 600m & during summer, rockfalls are common. November to March, rain and fog can severely limit the visibility.

The World's Coldest Village, Part 1
Documentary from the coldest inhabited village on earth. The record low dates back to 1926 with a reported temperature of minus 71.2 degrees Celsius. My working conditions were less harsh: Minus 58 degrees Celsius was the record low during my assignment. Photographs taken with my old Fuji 6x9 camera can be seen on my homepage:
