Looping ICELAND in 10 Days (Video description: Travel guide on best things from vacation trip 2019)
We decided to take a break from our busy schedules and visit our dream destination – “Iceland”. Our trip turned out to be so special and unique that we decided to make a tiny film out of our trip and share our beautiful experience with everyone out there.
This is our first attempt at videography, so we had fun and at the same time we learnt a lot! We are definitely looking to get better on this and your like, comment or feedback would really help and inspire us.
Downtown Akureyri - North Iceland
Walking downtown #Akureyri and the waterfront in the North of #Iceland.
Akureyri (pronounced ‘ah-koo-rare-ee’) is Iceland’s second biggest city but has a population of only 18,000.
It sits at the end of the Eyjafjörður fjord and is a popular day stop for cruise ships, there was a different ship there every day. Although, as they were not massive ships, they didn’t overwhelm the small town.
The Akureyrarkirkja (Church of Akureyri) sits on a hill above the town and has great views over the town. The church was designed by Guðjón Samúelsson, the same man who designed the Hallgrímskirkja, the landmark church in Reykjavik.
Akureyri is about a 6-hour drive from Reykjavik but you can fly there with Air Iceland.

List of cities and towns in Iceland
This is a list of cities and towns in Iceland. Some of Iceland’s larger cities and towns are also self-contained municipalities whose geography and populations are therefore equal. However, most of Iceland’s municipalities, which are semi-autonomous administrative zones, contain several disparate towns or cities, each of whose population contributes to that of its respective municipality.
In addition to Iceland's many independent towns, this article includes cities and towns whose municipalities consist of one, self-contained city of the same name, such as Hafnarfjörður and Akranes. Municipalities that are not also cities or towns, such as Árborg, are not included here, but their constituent towns and cities are. For Árborg, these include the towns of Selfoss, Eyrarbakki, and Stokkseyri.

Iceland is a mountainous island nation in the north Atlantic Ocean, located between Europe and North America. Though not part of the continental mainland, the country is considered Nordic European. The name of the country—Iceland—may not be that appropriate: although 10% of Iceland is covered by glaciers, it has a surprisingly mild climate and countless geothermal hot-spots. The native spelling (Ísland) is appropriate in English as well.

The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa and the most famous sight in Iceland.
The Gullfoss waterfall is quite spectacular.
Geysir, the namesake of all geysers, and its neighbour Strokkur which erupts every five minutes or so.
Þingvellir National Park, a beautiful landscape of water-cut lava fields, which is historically important as the site of Iceland's parliament from 930 AD.
Vatnajökull glacier is in Southeast Iceland and is Europe's largest glacier.
Jökulsárlón, the largest glacier lake in Iceland, is located off Route 1 and part of Vatnajökull glacier.
In the colder months, one may frequently get stunning views of the Aurora Borealis, a.k.a. Northern Lights[33] anywhere away from city lights.
Do in Iceland

Iceland offers many hiking opportunities. Hiking in Iceland is no easy business, strong walking boots which support your ankles are recommended as the terrain is usually craggy lava rock or springy moss with hidden holes! Likewise, you'll need to be prepared for strong bursts of sideways rain and sleet, especially in winter and shoulder seasons, and particularly in the mountains. Don't stray into unknown terrain without proper equipment, read up more on hiking in Iceland.
Iceland is not well known for skiing or big ski areas but the town of Akureyri in the north has a great little ski area and the mountains of the Troll Peninsula offer world class terrain for ski touring, ski mountaineering and heli skiing.
Ice climbing is great with world class frozen waterfalls and plenty of glaciers.
Glacier hiking is one of Iceland´s most popular tourist things to do with the area of Skaftafell in the SE being the center of activity.
Whale watching available all year from Reykjavik and during the summer from Husavik, but sightings are most common in summer in either place.
There are some good opportunities to go mobiling and this can provide access to otherwise inaccessable areas.
Whitewater rafting is popular. In south you can raft on the big Hvita river. North Iceland has some of the best rivers for rafting, Vestari and Austari Jokulsa. The companies offering rafting are located in Varmahlid. One of them is Bakkaflot with really good facilities (hot pools, accommodation restaurant & drinks) to use after your adventure.

Skagafjörður is one of Iceland's most prosperous agricultural regions, with widespread dairy and sheep farming in addition to the horse breeding for which the district is famed. Skagafjörður is the only county in Iceland where horses outnumber people.

Iceland Driving 1/2 - Reykjavík to Varmahlíð
This is the first part of the Iceland Driving video.
Just for fun, I thought I'd record the drive from Reykjavík to my hometown of Akureyri. The battery on the camera didn't make it all the way, so here we have Reykjavík to Varmahlíð (the next town before Akureyri).
The total travel time was roughly 3h 40m, brought to you in just about 9.5 minutes minutes, or at 21x the legal speed limit. Pretty interesting driving around in Iceland at Mach 1.5 ;)

Reykjavík, Mosfellsbær (0:20), Borgarnes (2:20), Bifröst (3:25), Holtavörðuheiði (4:25), Staðarskáli (5:15), Vatnsdalshólar (5:40), Víðigerði (6:35), Blönduós (7:50), Húnaver (8:50) and Varmahlíð
On this leg I stopped for swimming at Blönduós, but due to my late start I didn't have time to visit the pools in the other towns :)
