The Azores (Portuguese: Açores) is one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal (along with Madeira). It is an archipelago composed of nine volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. All the islands have volcanic origins.
São Miguel Island is the largest and most populous island in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. The island covers 760 km2 (290 sq mi) and has around 140,000 inhabitants, with 45,000 people resident in Ponta Delgada, the archipelago's largest city.
Similar to other islands in the archipelago, São Miguel is influenced by ocean currents and winds, and, in particular, the cyclonic Gulf Stream. This keeps temperatures hovering between 14 °C (57 °F) and 26 °C (79 °F) throughout the year. The island's location also makes it susceptible to many Atlantic storms.

Located in the middle of the Atlantic, 1,369 km west of mainland Europe, the Azores archipelago consists of nine islands spread over three groups.
The volcanoes that gave birth to these islands also created small islands or islets, located just off the main coast.
Perhaps the most famous of these small formations is Islet Vila Franca do Campo, located about 500 meters from the coast of São Miguel Island, the largest and most populous island on the Azores archipelago.
The Islet is named after the town of Vila Franca do Campo, the former capital of São Miguel, located opposite the islet.

The islet of Vila Franca do Campo is a small paradise.
Situated opposite the town of Vila Franca do Campo, about 1km from the coast, the islet is a result of the crater of an ancient submerged volcano, and is one of São Miguel’s main tourist attractions, particularly since an event in the Red Bull Cliff Diving world championship was held here.
Classified as a Nature Reserve, the walls of its crater are lined by endemic vegetation, while inside there is an almost perfectly circular natural lake, which is linked to the sea by a narrow channel. This opening is called Boquete and faces north, i.e. towards the coast of São Miguel, which prevents the entry of waves from the sea. Its crystal clear waters and the small but lovely beach, are excellent for swimming and diving.
O Ilhéu de Vila Franca do Campo é um pequeno paraíso, situado em frente à povoação de Vila Franca do Campo, a cerca de 1 km da costa, este local é o resultado da cratera de um antigo vulcão submerso e é uma das principais atracções turísticas da ilha de São Miguel, especialmente desde que aqui se realizou uma das etapas do Red Bull Cliff Diving – o campeonato mundial de mergulho em penhascos.
Classificado como Reserva Natural, tem as paredes da sua cratera revestidas por uma vegetação endémica, enquanto no seu interior existe uma piscina natural com uma forma quase perfeitamente circular, que comunica com o mar por uma estreita passagem. Esta abertura é designada por Boquete e está voltada a Norte, isto é na direcção da costa da ilha, o que impede a entrada da agitação marítima para o interior. As suas águas cristalinas e a pequena, mas encantadora praia, são excelentes para a prática de natação e mergulho.

Here's our second unplanned video from our trip to Sao Miguel, Azores. We return to the village of Villa Franca do Campo (first time wasn't recorded), a town famous for the perfectly shaped volcanic island of its coast called 'Ilheu de Vila Franca' as well as the Queijadas aka cupcakes of Adelino Morgado and Daughters located right next to the city port.
Queijadas de Vila Franca is a traditional pastry refined by nuns in convents during the sixteen hundreds in the town of Vila Franca do Campo, island of S. Miguel.

most beautiful beach of Portugal and Europe
The waterfall seen at THE END of this video is one of several reasons why this is the most beautiful beach of Europe.
This is not only the only subtropical beach with a waterfall in the background but also with a waterfall right at the beach (not seen in this video, seen only one of my other videos).
Another reason: in August and September it has the warmest water of any european Atlantic beaches.
But there is one reason that can not be stated here, at least unitl someone is able to name this beach.
Otherwise it would be immediately possible to know where it is.
