A origem do nome Cerveira tem duas possíveis explicações: há autores que defendem que poderá derivar de uma grande colónia de cervos que existia na região e outros que afirmam que provém do seu primeiro senhor, João Nunes de Cerveira, que teve solar por estes sítios no tempo do rei D. Sancho I.

Bragança - Portugal
Bragança virtual visit .Os celtas baptizaram a cidade, fundada no século II a.C., com o nome de Brigância, que se foi latinizando até passar a ser Bragança. Este nome é a origem do gentílico mais comum: brigantino.
Na área do actual concelho de Bragança, existia já uma povoação importante ao tempo da ocupação romana. Durante algum tempo, teve a designação de Julióbriga, dada a Brigância pelo imperador Augusto em homenagem a seu tio Júlio César.
Destruída durante as guerras entre cristãos e mouros, encontrava-se em território pertencente ao mosteiro beneditino de Castro de Avelãs quando a adquiriu, por troca, em 1130, Fernão Mendes de Bragança, cunhado de Dom Afonso Henriques. Reconstruída no lugar de Benquerença, Dom Sancho I concedeu-lhe foral em 1187, e libertou-a em 1199 do cerco que lhe impusera Afonso IX de Leão, pondo-lhe, então, definitivamente, o nome de Bragança. O regente Dom Pedro, em 1442, elevou Bragança a cabeça de ducado concedido a seu irmão ilegítimo dom Afonso, 8º conde de Barcelos, que fora genro de Dom Nuno Álvares Pereira.

Vila Real | Portugal
A localização privilegiada, no cruzamento das estradas Porto-Bragança e Viseu-Chaves, permite o seu crescimento. Após várias tentativas de povoamento deste territorio desde a época do Condado Portucalense, é com o foral de D.Dinis em 1289 que é fundada Vila Real de Panóias, que se tornará a actual cidade. A presença, a partir do século XVII, da Casa dos Marqueses, faz com que muitos nobres da corte também se fixem. Facto comprovado pelas inúmeras pedras-de-armas com os títulos de nobreza dos seus proprietários que ainda hoje se vêem na cidade.

Barcelos
Barcelos seria na época dos romanos, um local de passagem do rio Cávado, por onde passava uma derivação da via XVI (Braga-Lisboa) que de Famalicão passava o Cávado em Barcelos e ligava com a via per loca marítima, que ligava Bracara Augusta ao litoral. A constituição de Barcelos como vila medieval parece acontecer no séc. XII quando D.Afonso Henriques passa o seu primeiro foral (1156-1169). Nessa ápoca seria um nucleo de povoamento concentrado onde predominavam as actividades de comercio e almocrevia, e donde já existia uma Gafaria, na saída para Esposende.
No séc. XIII, a vilda já tinha cerca de 20 arruamentos, casario urbano, igreja e açougue. Nesta primeira fase de desenvolvimento da vila que se prolongou até ao séc. XIV, o ceu centro seria em torno da casa onde funcionou o concelho, a norte da igreja matriz.
