Conhecida pela sua actividade oleira, mantém abertas várias lojas de artesanato, onde se encontra grande variedade de produtos de cerâmica originais deste local, sobressaindo as pinturas em tons de azul e amarelo.
Do património arquitectónico, destaca-se a Igreja Matriz de Porches com uma fachada sóbria, e, no seu interior a Capela-Mor dedicada a Nossa Srª da Encarnação com um retábulo em talha dourada.*carl0spais*2012.
PORCHES, located in the municipality of Lagoa, Algarve, is a small village of white houses, with windows and doors framed with painted bar and characteristic chimneys of this region, holding the attention of anyone who passes by.
Known for its potter activity, has several craft shops with a large variety of ceramic products of the region, there are really beautiful paintings in shades of blue and yellow.
There are some architectural heritage, such as the Porches Church with a sober facade, and inside there's the Sacred Chapel dedicated to Nossa Srª da Encarnação with a gilded altarpiece.*carl0spais*2012.

➡ This is the first episode of our new series Favorite Lisbon Neighborhoods, where we explore the areas of Lisbon we have come to love and appreciate the most.
We start out in Campo de Ourique, which is an underrated neighborhood that most tourists of Lisbon aren't familiar with. Campo de Ourique is a pretty small neighborhood with a grid floor plan that makes finding your way around very easy.
The area is filled with vast amounts of restaurants and bars where you can have cuisine from whatever corner of the world, you wish.
One of the things we like the most about Campo de Ourique is the tranquility and relaxed atmosphere. You cannot walk around without feeling at ease.
Campo de Ourique is best described as a wonderful place for food lovers. And that's also why you have the Mercado de Campo de Ourique, which, in our opinion, is better than Time Out as it's more intimate and authentic with food tasting a little better.

9. Tavira Island
Tavira Island lies south of the town of Tavira, just a few hundred metres off the coast. It is 11 kilometres long and varies between 150 m to 1 km in width. The island has 11 km of the best beaches in the Algarve, including areas where naturism can be legally practised. It is popular among tourists, people that like to swim and bird watchers.
8. Fado
Fado is a music genre which can be traced to the 1820s in Portugal, but probably with much earlier origins. In popular belief, fado is a form of music characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics, often about the sea or the life of the poor, and infused with a characteristic sentiment of resignation, fatefulness and melancholia. However, although the origins are difficult to trace, today fado is regarded, by many, as simply a form of song which can be about anything, but must follow a certain structure.
7. Sipping the Douro
The exquisite Alto Douro wine country is the oldest demarcated wine region on earth. Its steeply terraced hills, stitched together with craggy vines that have produced luscious wines for centuries, loom on both sides of the sinuous Rio Douro. Whether you get here by driving the impossibly scenic back roads, or catch a train or boat from Porto, take the time to hike, cruise and taste.
6. The Cliffs of Cabo de São Vicente
This cape is the southwesternmost point in Portugal. Approximately six kilometers from the village of Sagres, the cape is a landmark for a ship traveling to or from the Mediterranean. The cape is a site of exuberant marine life and a high concentration of birds nesting on the cliffs, such as the rare Bonelli's eagle, peregrine falcons, kites, rock thrushes, rock pigeons, storks and herons.
5. Historic Évora
Due to its well-preserved old town centre, still partially enclosed by medieval walls, and a large number of monuments dating from various historical periods, including a Roman Temple, Évora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Évora is ranked number two in the Portuguese most livable cities survey of living conditions published yearly by Expresso.
4. Porto
The city was built along the hills overlooking the Douro river estuary, and its historical center was awarded World Heritage status by UNESCO in 1996. It has been continuously inhabited since at least the 4th Century, when the Romans referred to it as Portus Calle. Porto has a semi-Mediterranean climate, although it's strongly affected by the Atlantic ocean, which makes it's cooler than other cities with this climate.
3. Sintra
Less than an hour by train from the capital, Sintra feels like another world. Like a page torn from a fairytale, Sintra is a quaint village sprinkled with stone-walled taverns and with a whitewashed palace looming over town. Forested hillsides form the backdrop to the storybook, with imposing castles, mystical gardens, strange mansions and centuries-old monasteries hidden among the woodlands
2. Nightlife in the Bairro Alto
Lisbon is known for its lively nightlife. For going out, stroll around the old neighborhood of Bairro Alto for an after-dinner caipirinha or ginjinha and people-watching. Its small streets, full of people, are packed with a high variety of bars. On weeknights bars close at 2AM, weekends at 3AM. The party continues in a night-club after that. Just follow the hordes of people down the hill - people have been doing that for hundreds of years.
1. The Alfama
Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the São Jorge Castle and the Tejo river. Its name comes from the Arabic Al-hamma, meaning hot fountains or baths. It includes the freguesias (parishes) of São Miguel, Santo Estêvão, São Vicente de Fora and part of two streets of Freguesia da Sé: Rua do Barão and Rua São João da Praça. It contains many important historical attractions, with many Fado bars and restaurants.

PT// Passeio pela cidade de Cascais, observando inicialmente pelo que é mais conhecida as suas praias de areia e pela marina movimentada.
Percorremos o centro histórico com visita ao Palácio da Cidadela, um antigo retiro real transformado em Hotel e Farol Museu de Santa Marta.
No Parque Marechal Carmona, um extenso e belo jardim, foi possível observar algumas espécies de aves. Teminámos com visita exterior à Casa das Histórias Paula Rego.

We go through the historic center with a visit to the Citadel Palace, a former royal retreat turned into Hotel and Lighthouse Museum of Santa Marta.
In the Parque Marechal Carmona, an extensive and beautiful garden, it was possible to observe some species of birds. We had an outside visit to Paula Rego's House of Stories.

Alentejo Tour 1 Portugal
A tour along plains of the Alentejo region of Évora. Monsaraz, Mourão, Redondo, Montemor-o-novo, Terena, Vila Viçosa, Alandroal, Evoramonte e Juromenha.
Monsaraz:
The medieval village of Monsaraz, retains its magic of yesteryear as few places in the world. Made of lime and shale, this place suspended in time, is one of the oldest settlements in Portugal and a mandatory destination in its list of places to visit in Alentejo.
A tour around Monsaraz. Xerez, Orada, Corval, Valentine Rock and the Monsaraz River Beach:
* Cromeleque do Xerez *
The Xerez's cromlech was erected between the beginning of the 4th and the mid-3rd millennium BC.
* Convento da Orada: *
Implanted in the middle of the plain, north of the town of Monsaraz and near the place of Ferragudo, the Convent of the Orada stands out for its size and whiteness in a sparsely wooded area.
* Fluvial Beach of Monsaraz: *
The Fluvial Beach of Monsaraz, situated in the Nautical Center of Monsaraz, in an inland zone far from the sea, is the first fluvial beach of the Alqueva reservoir.
* São Pedro do Corval: *
The tradition of pottery in São Pedro do Corval goes back to prehistoric times, due to the existence of deposits of clays, which have always motivated this activity.
* Menir da Rocha dos Namorados: *
It is a menir consisting of a block of natural granite, more than two meters high, which has a shape similar to that of a mushroom or a uterus.
Mourão:
Mourão is a beautiful village in the Alentejo, on the left bank of the immense Guadiana River, near the border with Spain, in a place of great natural beauty.
Redondo:
Redondo is known for its wines of undoubted quality, resulting from the best grape varieties in the region and highly appreciated by visitors. To accompany a beautiful wine, an appetizing meal of the varied gastronomy of Alentejo. The food is served in earthenware, made in this land, not only of wine but also of clay and potters.
Montemor-o-Novo:
Calm and quiet region but with an important place in national history. Here D. Manuel I decided to have the sea route discovered for India. It was also an important stage of battles with a great capacity of resistance.
Alandroal:
Alandroal is a Portuguese town in the district of Évora, which is located on a hill 341m above sea level. It is located next to Spain being limited to the north by the municipality of Vila Viçosa, to the west by the Redondo, and to the south by Reguengos and Mourão.
Alandroal was founded in 1298 by D. Lourenço Afonso, Master of Avis, and elevated to the category of town in 1486, by a letter of Foral attributed by D. João II. To the municipality of Alandroal were annexed during century XIX, the territories of the old municipalities of Terena and Juromenha. The village of Vila Real (Villareal), a village on the Alqueva river, belonging to Olivença (under the Spanish administration) was a town of the old town hall of Juromenha.
The name of Alandroal is because in this municipality grow aloendros, whose wood is used in the local crafts. Also highlighted are the works made in cork, leather and horn.
Terena:
Terena, also known as São Pedro or São Pedro de Terena, is a beautiful Alentejo village, belonging to the municipality of Alandroal, situated in a beautiful region where peace of mind reigns supreme, near the Ribeira and the Lucifécit Dam, and the border with Spain.
Vila Viçosa:
Vila Viçosa is known as the Princess of the Alentejo. Although small, it is one of the most precious and charming jewels of the Alentejo, a village-museum.
Evoramonte:
Dominating the Alentejo plain, at the top of a hill with 481 meters of altitude, there is the Castle of Evoramonte, a town that was distinguished in the history of contemporary Portugal because the Convention was signed there on May 26, 1834, reestablished Peace in Portugal, after several years of bloody civil war between liberals and absolutists.
Juromenha:
The first references to the site of Juromenha date from the second half of the ninth century. For more than two hundred years this place was considered the stronghold of defense of the zone of Badajoz, belonging from century X to Caliphate of Cordova.
Bragança - Portugal
Bragança virtual visit .Os celtas baptizaram a cidade, fundada no século II a.C., com o nome de Brigância, que se foi latinizando até passar a ser Bragança. Este nome é a origem do gentílico mais comum: brigantino.
Na área do actual concelho de Bragança, existia já uma povoação importante ao tempo da ocupação romana. Durante algum tempo, teve a designação de Julióbriga, dada a Brigância pelo imperador Augusto em homenagem a seu tio Júlio César.
Destruída durante as guerras entre cristãos e mouros, encontrava-se em território pertencente ao mosteiro beneditino de Castro de Avelãs quando a adquiriu, por troca, em 1130, Fernão Mendes de Bragança, cunhado de Dom Afonso Henriques. Reconstruída no lugar de Benquerença, Dom Sancho I concedeu-lhe foral em 1187, e libertou-a em 1199 do cerco que lhe impusera Afonso IX de Leão, pondo-lhe, então, definitivamente, o nome de Bragança. O regente Dom Pedro, em 1442, elevou Bragança a cabeça de ducado concedido a seu irmão ilegítimo dom Afonso, 8º conde de Barcelos, que fora genro de Dom Nuno Álvares Pereira.

ALJEZUR, é uma vila portuguesa pertencente ao distrito de Faro, localizada em pleno Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina. É uma terra de origens remotas, habitada desde os tempos pré-históricos, cuja antiguidade é atestada pelos muitos vestígios arqueológicos que têm sido encontrados. A zona histórica que se estende pela encosta, oferece uma vista particular de ruas estreitas com casas caiadas e vãos coloridos em volta das janelas. Do património arquitectónico destacam-se: O Castelo de Aljezur, construído pelos árabes no sec.X e que actualmente se encontra em estado de ruína, conservando ainda as muralhas e duas torres, de onde se observa em toda a volta uma vista panorâmica deslumbrante; A Igreja da Misericórdia, no centro histórico da vila; o Museu de Arte Sacra, instalado no edifício do antigo Hospital da Misericórdia; a Casa Museu Pintor José Cercas na Rua do Castelo e ainda a Igreja Matriz de Nossa Sra de Alva, também chamada Igreja Nova. ALJEZUR,is a Portuguese village in the district of Faro, located in the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina. It is a land of remote sources, inhabited since prehistoric times, whose antiquity is attested by the many archaeological remains that have been found. The historic district that stretches along the hillside, offers a particular view of narrow streets and whitewashed houses with colorful gaps around the windows. Architectural heritage include: Aljezur Castle, built by the Arabs in the 10th Century and which is currently in ruins, there still remaining walls and towers and a stunning panoramic view; the Church of Mercy in the historic center of the town, the Museum of Sacred Art, housed in the former building of the Mercy Hospital; the Museum House of the Painter José Cercas in Castle Street and even the Church of Our Lady of Alva, also called New Church.
