Coral reefs, along with tropical forests, make up the planet’s richest ecosystems (but also the most endangered). They contain an incredible diversity of animals and plants, including a quarter of all the world’s sea fish. Outstandingly beautiful, coral reefs are unique places for snorkeling.
With so many coral reefs the world over, it’s often difficult to even know where to begin.

Maldives snorkeling with sharks and manta rays | Honeymoon Maldives | Budget trip to Maldives | 2019
Maldives is not just for luxury, if you are on a budget, you can still plan to visit Maldives to enjoy its real beauty which is its pristine ocean and marine life. You can spend more time in under water adventures like snorkeling and scuba diving when you are in Maldives because it one of the few places where you can see whale sharks, nurse sharks, sting rays, manta rays and many more of such fascinating species of marine.
We Enjoyed 3 days in Maldives for our 4th Anniversary, it is a perfect honeymoon destination.
Day1 : Adaaran club rannalhi resort
- Enjoy the luxurious resort, with unlimited cocktails and splendid buffet's which has plenty to choose from.
Day2 : Whale shark and Manta rays snorkeling trip.
This trip will cost you around 100$ per person, and they will take you to see the giant whale sharks and manta rays. Lunch is included.
Whale sharks are difficult to spot and is not 100% guaranteed, we were lucky to spot them twice, but they go back down into the deep water within few minutes. Boat will keep searching for more whale sharks for about 2 hours. I would rate this experience 7/10 compared to the one we did in Oslob Philippines. Checkout the video below
After that they will take you to swim with manta rays and possibly dolphins as well. Lunch was provided on a local island.
Day3: Nurse shark snorkeling trip.
This is the best experience we had in Maldives. This trip will cost you 50$ per person, They will take you to the nurse shark bay, to swim with the nurse sharks, on the way you can see dolphins, if you are lucky you can even swim with dolphins. They will also take you to a sand bank, which is just a very small white sand beach in the middle of the sea. You can make those awesome drone videos on those sand bank and enjoy the most beautiful beach to swim in.
Lunch was provided on Fulidhoo island, which has sting rays on its beach, entry is free to this island.
Visa for Maldives: Visa is free for Indians, only return ticket is needed to get a stamp from the immigration officer at Male Airport when you land in Maldives.

Compare the Diving and Snorkeling at Vilamendhoo, Maldives 2017
The first half of the video shows diving the house reef, local thilas and giris, the Whale Shark Park (no whale sharks though!) and Manta Ray dive sites. Then there's a couple of minutes of an overnight excursion on the Gomafalu yacht. The video finishes with snorkelling around the house reef. It's an interesting video to compare the diving and the snorkelling at Vilamendhoo. The video was filmed late January, early February.
