Why Are There Megaphones in This Estonian Forest? | Atlas Obscura
Deep in a forest that’s three hours from Estonia’s capital, is a hidden acoustic wonder: three megaphones clustered together in an art installation known as RUUP. The megaphones act as amplifiers to enhance the sounds of the waving trees and birds singing, and listeners are invited to come to the center of the clearing to experience a unique surround sound effect reflecting the sounds of Estonia’s Võru County forest.

Estonia - Latvia Road Trip
Estonia -- Latvia Programme invites all friends and partners to celebrate the European Cooperation Day 2013 on September 20 by going on an adventurous road trip through Southern Estonia and Northern Latvia. The road trip will start in four different places in both countries, take its participants through different experiences, and end at one location near the Estonia -- Latvia border, where everyone will come together for a dinner party and a small celebration.
During the road trip, depending on the route, there will be a chance to go to the forest school, taste natural home-grown products, race with model cars, see a modern rescue and fire service, visit a nice beach, try out a hand in drawing, practice summer biathlon and many other interactive things. All activities will be offered by projects supported by Estonia -- Latvia Programme. Towards the evening, all bus tour participants will come together at a surprise location near the border, where they will have a chance to enjoy a gourmet meal, cooked by Estonian and Latvian chefs, exchange impressions of the day with each other, and celebrate European cooperation.
Estonia -- Latvia Road Trip busses will depart from Tallinn and Tartu in Estonia and Rīga and Alūksne in Latvia in the morning of Friday, September 20. It will be possible also to get on the busses in Ape, and Valka in Latvia, as well as Võru in Estonia. In late evening, the same busses will deliver the road trip participants back to their departure locations. Registration for the road trip is open until the end of the day on September 15. Participation is free of charge, but admission on busses will be on first register, first served basis, so do sign-up as early as you can in order to ensure the seat on the bus. estlat.eu

This year (2012), the LINC study trip is combined with voluntary work, which means that we can all contribute to the development of various objects in South-Estonia through community work (Practical Workshop). We will visit the different landscapes and cultures of South-Estonia. It is possible to choose between four destinations -- Setomaa, the Onion Route, Valgamaa and Võrumaa.
Võrumaa is an area where one can be alone with nature. The local nature here is amazingly diverse and primeval -- when travelling here you can find places that seem previously undiscovered by people.
Towards the south, Võrumaa rises almost as high as the clouds. The highest peak of the Baltic region -- the Great Egg Hill -- offers a refreshing view of the forest-covered hilly Estonia with its steep valleys and deep clear lakes. Since ancient times, hard-working nature, wisdom, handicraft skills, sense of humour, love of music and singing has helped local people to live in this hilly region.
SUUR MUNAMÄGI - Highest Peak in Estonia. Самая высокая вершина в Прибалтике.
Suur Munamägi, 318 metres from the sea level, is the highest point of the Baltics. The observation tower on Suur Munamägi provides its visitors with a splendid 50 km range view of the Estonian nature.
The current tower, the sixth in line, was constructed in 1939, and reconstructed in 1969. A total of 29.1 metres in height, it was renovated once more in 2005 and an elevator was built into the back of the tower.
A person standing on top of the tower is standing 346.7 metres above the sea level. The first tower was built in 1812. The height of Suur Munamägi makes it one of the most important national symbols of Estonia.
