7 Questions About The Mountie County Challenge:
--------------------
1. What is the Mountie County Challenge?
The Mountie County Challenge is a call to arms to West Virginians to go out and explore their home state. It can be accomplished in three simple steps:
(1) Visit a small town or county in West Virginia that you have never been to before.
(2) Support local businesses, artists, and attractions during your visit.
(3) Share your experience online with friends, family, and the Mountie County Challenge Facebook Page.
Keep in mind that no trip is too big or too small to share. Whether you are planning a three-day weekend in Berkeley Springs or stopping at the Main Street Cafe in Jane Lew on your way to a Mountaineer game, as long as you are supporting West Virginia-based businesses, artists, and attractions, its the Mountie County Challenge!
--------------------
2. Why did you create the Mountie County Challenge?
We created the Mountie County Challenge because we believe that West Virginia is the best kept secret in the United States. West Virginia has an incredibly rich history and culture, innovative small businesses and artists, and some of the most stunning natural beauty in the world. For too long, however, the national media has depicted West Virginia as backwards, uncultured, and in a state of terminal decline.
We believe that the only people that can change this narrative are West Virginians themselves. By taking The Mountie County Challenge, we can showcase the many wonderful local businesses, artists, and attractions that populate our state, while promoting fun, positive images of West Virginia to friends and family living across the country and the world.

3. The Mountie County Challenge sounds great, but what's with the silly dances?
We recognize that many West Virginians would love to explore their home state, but wouldn't necessarily know where to begin. To ease that process, we wanted to provide West Virginians a list of fifty-five small businesses, local landmarks, and tourist attractions to help spark ideas for a trip (one for each county in the state). We hoped that dancing to James Brown in a Mountaineer outfit would capture your attention long enough to show all fifty-five counties!

4. Where can I find a list of the locations featured in the video?
The full list can be found here:
We have also prepared a comprehensive list of West Virginia-based businesses, artists, and attractions -- the County Hunters Starter-Kit -- to help West Virginians plan their next trip.
The Starter-Kit can be found here:

5. I know of a local business, artist or attraction that is not featured on The County Hunters StarterKit, can it be added to the list?
Yes, just e-mail the name and location of the business to wvcountyhunters@gmail.com.
Keep in mind, however, that this list was created by West Virginians to support West Virginia-based businesses, artists, and attractions. If you are NOT headquartered in West Virginia, by all means move here and we'll add you to the list!
--------------------
6. I am a West Virginia-based small business owner or artist, can I advertise on the Mountie County Challenge Facebook Page?
Absolutely (it's free!). But don't just tell us what you sell, we want to know your story and why you love West Virginia. Also, while dancing in front of your storefront is not required, it is heavily encouraged!
--------------------
7. Who are The County Hunters behind The Mountie County Challenge?
We are a family from Charleston, West Virginia. We have been incredibly blessed to call Almost Heaven home for generations, and we wanted to come up with a creative way to showcase what makes West Virginia such an incredible place to live and raise a family.

Annapolis, Maryland - Historic & Dynamic
Annapolis is the capital of the U.S. state of Maryland, as well as the county seat of Anne Arundel County. Situated on the Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Severn River, 25 miles (40 km) south of Baltimore and about 30 miles (50 km) east of Washington, D.C., Annapolis is part of the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. Its population was measured at 38,394 by the 2010 census.
This city served as the seat of the Confederation Congress (former Second Continental Congress) and temporary national capital of the United States in 1783–1784. At that time, General George Washington came before the body convened in the new Maryland State House and resigned his commission as commander of the Continental Army. A month later, the Congress ratified the Treaty of Paris of 1783, ending the American Revolutionary War, with Great Britain recognizing the independence of the United States. The city and state capitol was also the site of the 1786 Annapolis Convention, which issued a call to the states to send delegates for the Constitutional Convention to be held the following year in Philadelphia. Over 220 years later, the Annapolis Peace Conference, was held in 2007. Annapolis is the home of St. John's College, founded 1696, as well as the United States Naval Academy, established 1845.
