Taipei Travel Guide - Beautiful Taiwan
Taipei Travel Guide - Beautiful Taiwan
Taipei is the national capital of Taiwan. It is in the northern part of the island in a basin between the Yangming Mountains and the Central Mountains. It is, with 2.6 million inhabitants, the fourth largest administrative area of Taiwan, after New Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taichung. However, the Greater Taipei metropolitan area, which encompasses the central Taipei City along with the surrounding New Taipei City and Keelung, represents the largest urban cluster in Taiwan with nearly 7 million people.
Taipei City administers twelve districts :
Wanhua (萬華區)
Wanhua is the oldest district of Taipei, home to many historic buildings, such as the Longshan Temple and the Red House Theater. Ximending is the harajuku of Taipei, a shopping neighbourhood centred around teenager fashion, Japanese culture and subcultures.
Datong (大同區)
Datong is one of the oldest inhabited areas in what is now Taipei. It used to be the city's commercial centre, but has lost relevance as the economic centre shifted southeast to Zhongzheng, Daan and Xinyi. It is now most known for Dihua Street with its Japanese colonial and Qing dynasty architecture and Chinese herbal and dry goods shops.
Zhongzheng (中正區)
The political center of Taiwan and the location of the Presidential Office and important government ministries. Its prime tourist attractions is the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
Zhongshan (中山區)
Zhongshan has riverside parks, the Martyrs Shrine, the Fine Arts Museum.
Daan (大安區)
Daan is a modern commercial district. The northern part of Daan is known as Taipei's East District, offering department stores, plenty of fashion boutiques, lounge bars, and atmospheric restaurants and some of the most expensive real estate in the city. The southern part of Daan is home to National Taiwan University and National Taiwan Normal University.
Xinyi (信義區)
Xinyi is the modern financial district of Taipei and home to the Taipei 101, the World Trade Center and the International Convention Center. It is the newest part of the city with many shopping malls.
Songshan (松山區)
Many firms and financial institutions in this neighbourhood, which is directly north of the East District. Raohe Street Night Market is one of the oldest of Taipei's famous street markets.
Beitou (北投區)
This district is famous for hot springs and the Yangmingshan National Park.
Shilin (士林區)
A traditional area of the city that is known for its excellent museums, including the world famous National Palace Museum. Shilin is also home to one of Taipei's largest nightmarket and the expat enclave of Tianmu.
Neihu (內湖區)
Located in the north-east of the city, Neihu is a hub of IT industry in Taipei, home to many large shopping centers, and a great place for hiking and 'templing'. A mouth-watering juxtaposition of local Taiwanese culture and modern shopping malls and restraunts. A definite must-visit, Neihu is largely a secret to the tourist world, unfortunately.
Nangang (南港區)
Neighboring Neihu, this district is known for its IT industrial complexes and is also home to one of Taiwan's leading academic institution - Academia Sinica.
Wenshan (文山區)
This district comprises the two traditional districts of Muzha and Jingmei. It is in the south of the city and associated with its many tea plantations and also for being the location of Taipei Zoo.

TAIWAN TOUR DIY | Taipei Zoo | Day 3 | Travel Vlog
TAIWAN TRAVEL | Taipei Zoo | Day 3 - It's our last day to tour and see the beauty of Taiwan and we began by checking its flora and fauna at the Taipei zoo - the largest zoo in Asia covering 165 hectares, including 90 hectares open to the public! The Taipei Zoo sometimes referred to as the Muzha Zoo, is a public zoological garden located at Wenshan District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is the most famous zoological garden in the country and a leader in conservation, research and education, and recreation.
Personally, I had so much fun in the zoo. Having been able to see the animals that I have been dreaming to see was a moment so wonderful to me as a Science teacher! As a matter of fact, I lost my companions along the way. I just went ballistic trying to see all the flora and fauna I could cover with the time we had at the zoo. It was an amazing moment! And, thank God I bumped into them again at the penguin section!
Then, after an amazing tour at the zoo, we headed to ride the cable car near the zoo - the Maokong Gondola. It is a 4.3 km gondola lift transportation system in Taipei that opened on 4 July 2007. This was the first time I have ridden a cable car and it was another amazing adventure! When we reached the top (Maokong), it was another beautiful place to tour around. After this trip to Taipei Zoo and Maokong, we headed to Ximen again to buy our pasalubongs.
My Taiwan trip was an amazing adventure. It was filled with many great things, ones that made me realize that life is a blessing! The Bible says God has made everything beautiful in its time! So, let's not give up on life, my friends! Seize each moment and live our lives because God made it worth living!
Thank you, Taiwan for an amazing tour and to the awesome peeps I enjoyed it with! Blessings!

Raohe Night Market in Taipei: MUST-EAT Taiwan Street Food - Pepper Pork Buns & Bone Soup!
Raohe Night Market is one of the best Taiwanese street food night markets in Taipei:
One of the best things to do when you visit Taipei is go around at night and visit the many night markets the city has to offer. While the biggest and grandest night market in Taipei is the famous Shilin Night Market, there are many others. One of the others that I really liked was Raohe Night Market, located on Raohe Street. The market was smaller and friendlier, and along the street they packed in some seriously delicious food. One evening during our visit to Taipei, we headed over to the market in the evening to explore, wander around, and eat some of the must eat things to try at the market. Here are the main things we tried.
Fuzhou Pepper Buns (pork pepper buns)
Without doubt, Fuzhou Pepper Buns (pork pepper buns) is the most famous street food to eat at the Raohe Night Markets - and it’s crazy busy at all times that it’s open. Located right at the entrance of the market, you won’t have any trouble finding it. They are so popular, they even have a line marked out so it may feel like you’re actually standing in line at immigration instead of waiting for food. I ordered the classic pepper pork bun, a circle of dough filled with a pepper marinated mixture of pork, filled with green onions, wrapped into a bun, and then cooked in a tandoor oven. The result was an incredibly delicious bun, topped with loads of sesame seeds. The pork inside was meaty and had a nice salty and slightly sweet flavor, with a good freshness from the green onions. But definitely the bread was the highlight with its crispy and gooey texture all in one. Although the Fuzhou Pepper Buns stall has a long line at all times, it really is worth the wait. It’s most definitely one of the must eat things at Raohe Street Night Market in Taipei.
Grilled Squid
Another one of my favorite Taiwanese street food snacks at night markets is grilled squid, which is typically available from multiple stands throughout any night market. Spotting a squid vendor, we moved in to order some. The squid was first boiled, then grilled, basted in some kind of dark looking teriyaki sauce, and then cut up into slices for eating. It was then topped in some pepper and chili powder. Squid is just an excellent street food night market snack. The squid was fresh and the texture was excellent.
Fried dumplings
Continuing on our tour of must eat food at Raohe Night Market, we continued with a cup of fried dumpling, which were freshly cooked, and golden brown on one side, and then gooey on the top and the middle and filled with a mixture of minced meat and green onions on the inside. The dumplings were then topped with sauce and chilies and served with a skewer for eating. Again, just like many of the dumplings in Taiwan, they were delicious.
Pork bone herbal soup
Another one of the most famous things to eat at Raohe Night Market is the herbal pork bone soup, and there area number of restaurants that sell the same thing, and all of them are extremely busy. We chose one, got a seat, and our bowls of pork bone soup came almost immediately and they were piping hot. There wasn’t a lot of meat on the bones, but the pork did taste pretty good, and especially when it was dipped in the sauce. The soup was also flavorful, mild in flavor, but with a good Chinese medicinal flavor to it.
After finishing the pork bone soup, I was feeling pretty happy and satisfied, and so we decided to call it a night at Raohe Night Market and head back to our hotel. I really enjoyed the mix of food and the overall friendly environment at Raohe Night Market, and I think it’s a great place to spend some time exploring when you’re in Taipei.

Taiwan VLOG 4 part 1: Taroko National Park! 太魯閣國家公園
Day 4 of our week-long trip in Taiwan, Tram and I went to Taroko National Park. On the first part of the video, I show you my journey on buying the combo ticket to traveling to Taroko National Park.
Speaking of Combo ticket, this had to have been the easiest non-touristy way to get here. I followed along a blogger who gave great information on how to obtain the ticket. I will include a link to his site.
The whole trip took about 2.5 hours from Taipei to Taroko and you first have to ride a bus and then transfer to a train.
When you reach Taroko National Park, don't forget to bring your passports if you plan on renting a scooter. One of my biggest regrets is not having a scooter to check out 大清水休憩區, which is considered to be one of the natural wonders of Taiwan.
Never the less, the bike ride inside the Gorge was nothing but amazing! I have never seen anything so beautiful. It makes me want to travel even more to see what the world has to offer.
Hope you all enjoy the scenery and remember if you like the video give me a thumbs up and subscribe!
