Mohonk Mountain House
In 1869, rocky cliffs rising above a crystal blue glacial lake in the Hudson River Valley inspired Albert Smiley to create Mohonk Mountain House as a resort where guests could renew body, mind, and spirit in a beautiful natural setting. Now, over 140 years later, it is still owned and operated by the Smiley family.
What began as a small guest house evolved into a Victorian castle with fanciful turrets, local stone, and gabled frame constructions, set on 1,200 acres of spectacular scenery. Just named the Number Six Spa in the World by Travel + Leisure and the Number One Resort Spa in the United States by Condé Nast Traveler, The Spa Mohonk Mountain House is the resort's first addition in more than 100 years. The 30,000-square-foot-spa wing blends seamlessly with the existing building, enhancing the timeless ambiance of this historic resort. Mohonk Mountain House is also recognized on the 2013 Condé Nast Traveler, Gold List as one of The World's Best Places to Stay.
