The London Underground is a public rapid transit system in the United Kingdom that serves a large part of Greater London and the home counties of Essex, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. It has many former stations, while others were planned but not opened. Some stations were closed because of low passenger usage rendering them uneconomical; some became redundant after lines were re-routed or replacements were constructed; and others are no longer served by the Underground but remain open to National Rail mainline services. Many stations were planned as parts of new lines or extensions to existing ones but were later abandoned.
Some closed station buildings are still standing, converted for other uses or abandoned, while others have been demolished and their sites redeveloped. A number of stations, while still open, have closed platforms or sections, such as the Jubilee line platforms at Charing Cross. The interiors and platforms of a few closed stations are among parts of the London Underground available for filming purposes, such as those at Aldwych.
Closed when the current station was opened a short distance to the east to enable the Aldgate junction to be rebuilt Terminus of Piccadilly line branch line from Holborn; closed due to low passenger numbers and cost of replacing lifts The service was cut back to Amersham when electric locomotive-hauled trains were replaced with A60 Stock trains. Closed when Central line platforms were opened at Holborn Closed due to low passenger numbers and creation of a new entrance to Knightsbridge station Former peak hours only service withdrawn to save money following cancellation of Greater London Council's Fares Fair policy Former peak hours only service withdrawn to save money following cancellation of Greater London Council's Fares Fair policy The Windsor service was cut back to Ealing Broadway due to low passenger numbers. It is now West Ealing station. Two platforms are still functional but were removed from public use when the Jubilee line extension to Stratford was opened in 1999. Former Northern line Highbury Branch between Moorgate and Finsbury Park converted to main line operation.

Machynlleth Holiday Cottage | Hen Gapel
Located in a small hamlet not far from the village of Aberhosan, this lovely Machynlleth holiday cottage is in peaceful surroundings with a little stream at the edge of the garden and an adjoining woodland for tranquil walks. The cottage is semi detached and the large south facing garden offers the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the song of the birds.
This Machynlleth holiday cottage is just 5 miles from the town itself – a beautiful market town which is also the Ancient Capital of Wales. Machynlleth offers lovely little cafes, plenty of unique shops, two supermarkets and a number of good restaurants. Some of the recommended restaurants include Number 21 and Wynnstay in Machynlleth, Black Lion in Derwenlas (8 miles) and Glanyrafon in Pennal (10 miles). You will also find all the amenities you need in Machynlleth including banks, garages and a number of takeaways and pubs (including the White Lion and White Horse).
Amongst the main attractions are the sandy beaches at Aberdyfi and Ynys Las (at opposite ends of the Dyfi estuary) and the glorious mountains of Snowdonia. You also have a number of great days out to choose from, including a relaxing ride on Talyllyn Railway, a visit to the RSPB Reserve and Ospreys Project at Ynyshir, the Centre for Alternative Technology, King Arthur's Labyrinth and Corris Mines. The seaside town of Aberystwyth is also worth a visit, home to the National Library of Wales, Vale of Rheidol railway, a traditional cinema and the largest arts centre in Wales.
Steam 2010 - The Deleted Scenes
Throughout the year there were occasions when, due to circumstances, we were only able to capture a train once in the course of its journey. At other times things would go wrong and shots would be lost. Either way the result was the same, videos that lacked a proper beginning or end and did not warrant an upload of their own.
This then is a compilation of some of those orphaned clips.
The video opens with 35028 Clan Line rounding the curve at Virginia Water station, with the 1st May Surrey Hills VSOE. Clan Line is then seen passing Westcott, on the approach to Dorking.
Sunday 20th June, and 60163 Tornado passes through Byfleet & New Haw bound for Havant with a Cathedrals Express circular tour.
The Cornish Riviera of 26th June, with 6024 King Edward I, was particularly unsuccessful. The first shot, at Langley, was lost behind an HST, while at Little Bedwyn I failed to keep up with the loco, due to the bright sunlight on the view screen.. All that could be salvaged was the view of the King passing Aldermaston.
The return Cornish Rivera, two days later, behind 6024 and 5029 Nunney Castle was similarly blighted. The run through Iver was going to be a panning shot, through the station, until someone came and stood behind me.
The rare sight of King Edward I hauling the VSOE Pullmans to Bristol on the 14th July was to have been caught twice, first at Cholsey, and again at Uffington. For some reason, the King crept past Uffington, which made for a rather dull video.
The 25th July Torbay Express, with 71000 Duke of Gloucester at Cogload Junction, Paignton and Teignmouth, was originally to have been combined with another Torbay video. In the event, the second video didn't happen.
The next day, 71000 stood in for 60163 Tornado on the Midland Tornado. The steam section was one way only, from Gloucester to London, and we only saw it the once, at Barnes Bridge.
I can't remember why the 20th August VSOE, behind Tornado, wasn't uplosded, but here it is now at Isleworth and Chilworth.
Finally comes Black Five 44932 and the Capital Christmas Express from Swanage to London and return. With dull, misty conditions at the first three locations, Worting Junction, Potbridge and Feltham, only the results from Worting are worth showing.
The return, at Isleworth, in the dark was much better.
