Lingfield is a village, civil parish and post town in the Tandridge district of Surrey, England. Lingfield Park is home to horse racing across a large catchment from Folkestone to Epsom. Lingfield is centred 23.4 miles (37.7 km) south of London and lies to the east of the A22 where it runs between Godstone and East Grinstead. The village has a medieval church that is Grade I listed, timber-frame architecture from the Tudor period and century before and a punishment cage, last used in 1882 to hold a poacher, made in 1773.
Lingfield's location in Tandridge District is shown above. The Prime Meridian passes close to the western border of Lingfield. London is (centred) 23.4 miles (37.7 km) north-by-northwest and Oxted, the administrative centre of Tandridge is 5.3 miles (8.5 km) north. Guildford, Surrey's county town is 24.3 miles (39.1 km) west-by-northwest.
Trains run most notably from Lingfield railway station to London Victoria station and London Bridge station. Refurbishment, finished in Spring 2013, of the Bluebell Railway made that steam tourist service accessible directly by car or modern train. East Grinstead railway station is a modern terminus of this formerly through-line to Lewes and beyond: the town of East Grinstead is just two stations south.

Another bracing 10 miles in the snow and fantastic scenery of North Norfolk. Unfortunately though, this is only a short snapshot of this section as said weather drained my camera battery quicker than anticipated!
Leaving Wells, the walker is soon in familiar marshland surroundings; delightfully remote and tranquil today! After a short respite for a hot drink in the hostelry at Stiffkey, there's more marshland walking through to Morston and then on to Blakeney. Intensely bitter Easterly winds killed this walker's camera battery somewhere around Blakeney Eye, meaning no windmill at Cley in this video. Next time!
Another lovely day's walking, despite the chill, providing some less frequently seen snowy views of the coastline here.
Rail and Road event. Bluebell Railway 14th - 16th June 2019
The Bluebell Railway put on a steam powered event, with road vehicles supplementing the steam railway. The use of steam powered transport drove the industrial revolution and all manner of different commercial applications were on show and in action over the weekend. including steam powered deliveries to and from the station.
Opening sequence. Class 09 0-6-0 diesel shunter prepares the demonstration goods train.
Class S15 4-6-0 Express Goods and mixed traffic engine runs in to Horsted Keynes and departs noisily for East Grinsted and seen en route powering up to Sharpthorne tunnel.
Q class 0-6-0 goods engine 30541, comes under Leamland Bridge, saluted by a traction engine, pulls uphill past Black Hut and is seen drifting down back through Sharpthorne tunnel with the goods train.
Standard Class 5 4-6-0 73082 'Camelot' eases through the temporary speed restriction at Horsted Place and pulls away up the curve to the tunnel and onto East Grinstead
Onto the Road vehicles, Traction Engines, driving saw benches, road making machinery and hauling heavy loads. Steam Rollers - in use right up until the 1970s in some areas - demonstrate their power and weight in skilful hands. The bulk of the ploughing engine with the underslung winch stands next to the huge reversible towed plough. Steam delivery lorries and tractors were kept busy delivering coal to the engines
The weather changed and made the field very soft in places and the versatility of the machinery was put to good use winching out stuck machines.
All in all a comprehensive look at how steam power was used in all aspects of transport.

Boarding School Students Visit Germany-Part I
The first of six quick clips of the trip that six Randolph-Macon Academy students took to Germany in July 2010. This trip is offered about every other year by R-MA's German instructor, Steve Latham, to advanced German students. Students spend one week on campus speaking only German in class, then travel about Germany for three weeks--speaking only German the entire time. At the end of the course, they have earned one high school credit in German.

After lunch at St Margaret's Church, the walk goes through Giffards Wood, crosses over the Bluebell Railway Line, then joins the Sussex Border Path to pass the climbing rocks at Stone Farm. Then, it's on past Weir Wood Reservoir and across meadows back to East Grinstead.
