Woomargama is a locality in southeastern New South Wales, Australia. The locality is in the South West Slopes region, in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. It is in the Greater Hume Shire local government area, 508 kilometres south west of the state capital, Sydney and 48 kilometres north east of the regional city of Albury. Sugar or Squirrel Glider?

There are now Gliders living in three nest boxes at our Fox Gully Bushcare site. We have not identified Sugar or Squirrel Gliders at this stage but our wildlife camera is set to monitor their activities at night and that should allow us to establish which species.

The next boxes have been in place for just over twelve months. BCC Habitat Brisbane contracted Hollow Log Homes to install ten nest boxes in response to our research that showed a lack of suitable nest hollows at the site which was a railway timber reserve up to about 100 years ago. Trees typically start creating nest hollows after about 100 years then taking up to 50 years before the hollow is usable.

Of the ten boxes installed we now have three occupied by Gliders a family of Kookaburras, four chicks, living in the Boobook Owl box, a Brushtail Possum living in the Kookaburra box and another Brushtail living in a Pale Headed Rosella box.
