The 100-Pillar Pagoda-Kratie Province Feb-2012 (Cambodia).flv
Situated in Sambour district, opposite Koh Pdao (around 36 Km from Kratie Town), Vihear Sarsar Mouy Rouy is a pagoda well-known for its history and as a place of pilgrimage for residents of Kratie. Vihear Sarsar Mouy Rouy, meaning 'Temple with 100 columns', was first built in the 16th century by King Chann Reachea. The pagoda included 100 wooden columns to commemorate the memory of his daughter Vorakpheak.
The pagoda is located in Sambor town 36 km from Kratie which was the site of a thriving pre-Angkorian city during the time of Sambor Prei Kuk and the Chenla empire. Unfortunately not a stone of this old settlement remains in the modern town of Sambor, which is locally famous for having the largest wat in Cambodia, To get there, take the old N R 7 along the River bank 24 km to Sandan village and continue northward 12 km by the River road to Sambo.

The Hundred Pillar Pagoda Kratie, Cambodia
The Hundred Pillar Pagoda is located in Sambor District, around 45 kilometers/26 miles from Kratie. The first temple was built on the site of an Eighth Century Royal Palace. Over centuries, the Wat or Monastery or Temple has been struck by lightning, and most of the wooden pillars disintegrated; a few original pillars can be seen stacked up along the side. The new Pagoda now has 116 pillars (I didn't bother to count and took Heng's word for it).
The inside was pretty gaudy but the outside was gorgeous. Guide Heng had quite a few interesting tales about the monastery and all the details are in this video. We walked around, admired and left...

Along the Mekong River continued to travel south again. Yateumakhan between the houses of the riverside building seems unusual. The right temple. The shape of the building temple of the name is just 100 pillars temple. 0 shares handed to appease the souls of the dead erected in the mid-16th century crocodile 100 wooden pillars and the temple jieotdago Sanya based on the pillars. But both pillars of the old bakkwotgo a concrete pillar and that no remains only three. These pillars are going beyond 400 years. In 1975 I removed the Pol Pot regime at the time to all employees since 1979, (then) abandon the pillar on the Mekong River remained current only this. But faith must still find a lot of people coming from all over the country whether intact. Finish jjolcheu a memorial service was held in Cambodia up to the feast remain ahead. The unusually hearty dining table sanctum one has turned up a feast in the view at a glance. The dining table is a memorial for all the monks. Believers as well as on the bottom says politely to raise daldi sweet drinks. This not only strange thing is not. During the meal of Shinto monks that are not going to move. Monk end of the meal I could eat the leftovers grandmothers, waiting for the meal of a monk is not the only thing the grandmother. Even in the face of formal training games it did not become monks are full of envy. Why do not you eat like? Eat as batahyo punishment. After I eat I eat. And another one, and also a meal of a monk bureowotda.

EP58 | Loads of freshwater IRRAWADDY DOLPHINS in Kratie
After a long journey from Siem Reap where we ended up crammed into a minibus with luggage on top of us we finally made it to Kratie. We started our day by exploring Kaoh Trong by horse and cart, then travelled by tuktuk further North to an area known for having freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins. We were not disappointed – we saw loads of dolphins!

Cambodian ceremony ( Pchum Ben) in a province in Cambodia
This is how Cambodians celebrate Pchum Ben. There are 15 days including the last three days that are the main days. Most people go to pagoda with offering food. Due to the special day, many young Cambodians who live or work far away from their family will be back together on that day.
