The Wild Life, Mud Baths, and Riu Palace in Costa Rica
A slideshow of photos from our trip to Costa Rica in March 2016.
We stayed at the all-inclusive Riu Palace on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. This beach-side resort is next to the Riu Guanacaste not far from Playa del Coco and Liberia, Costa Rica.
During early morning walks on the beach at the Riu Palace, you can find a variety of tour vendors, birds, small animals, and Howler monkeys.
We also took several tours with Maleku Tours (malekutours.com) during our stay. These private tours were to the base of the Miravalles Volcano, where we went horseback riding, took a short hike into the rain forest, and saw several waterfalls. Later we tried out the volcanic mud baths and hot springs. The next day we took a Maleku tour to the Palo Verde National Park. Here we took a boat tour and saw a variety of animals and birds. A real treat were the white-faced moneys that jumped on our boat!

Day 3 - Arenal (Costa Rica Fam Trip 2018)
Day 3 - The day many of us had all been waiting for - the Sloth Adventure, after a very insightful tour of a local Pineapple Farm, an unexpected highlight of our trip due to our comical guide Michael, we made our way into the rainforest for a guided tour Sloth hunting, seeing several sloths, turtles, wild bird and monkeys along the way! Then it was on to the Tabacon hot springs for some insta worthy snapshots and well earned chill in the naturally warmed waters from the local live volcano.
Myself and 10 lucky agents from TUI had the amazing opportunity to experience some incredible aspects of the fantastic Costa Rica tours, excursions and hotels we offer. If you would like any more information on any aspect of the trip / any tips / advice or would like to go on a Costa Rica beach stay, multi centre or tour feel free to get in touch with me at TUI Aberdeen 01224 628500 or via email on aberdeen@tui.co.uk
Costa Rican Waterfall Tour
Teresa the Traveler and friends Carolyn and Catherine visit Costa Rica where they go on an eco-adventure and waterfall tour with local English-speaking guide Alvaro Espinoza. First they visit the Llanos de Cortez waterfall and then they go to the Las Hornillas Volcanic Activity Center at Miravalles Volcano where they jump into a waterfall, cross over suspended bridges, see an active volcanic crater, ride down a waterslide and have a volcanic mud bath before relaxing in the hot mineral springs. Finding the Interior in Costa Rica
The sun rises and sets every day over vastly different eco-systems, countries, and experiences all around the world. And while there are epic adventures to be had in places like Costa Rica—zip-lining, surfing, white-water rafting, and of course, seeing monkeys—part of the beauty of traveling is discovering the heart and soul of a place through its people, and through the simple acts of sharing a cup of coffee and a story, taking a walk down a dirt road, or even missing a turn.

How Expensive Is Tamarindo Beach Costa Rica?
VLOG#011: IS TAMARINDO BEACH EXPENSIVE? -- That's everybody's query before deciding whether to visit Tamarindo Beach, Guanacaste or somewhere else. Tamarindo Beach Costa Rica had been tagged as Miami of Costa Rica. Not for the high rise buildings next to the beach which we don't have anyway, but the high prices of everything on this beautiful beach.
We walked along the Calle Principal and visited Monkey Bar which is next to Best Western Hotel and later spent the sunset along the pristine beach of Tamarindo.

TRANSCRIPT
We’re going to take a safari boat ride today down the Penas Blancas river. It’s only a 20 minute drive from Arenal and La Fortuna so this is a great tour for those who are short on time or with families because you get to see a lot of different wildlife. This tour is offered by Jacamar Naturalist Tours, who we’re going to go with so we’re going to show you the tour so let’s go.
Our guides are taking off all the rafts and this is like a local house and the river is right over there so we’re going to go over there and start the tour.
Alright so this is our boat and we have our lovely guide Hugo who’s going to guide us down the river. Ready for it? Let’s go.
This is the Penas Blancas river and what we’re going to see today, well nature is very unpredictable but hopefully some monkeys, sloths and birds. Nature always has something important for us to show so hopefully today will be the day. We’re in the Arenal area and La Fortuna which is like twenty minutes from La Fortuna and specifically the northern region of the Caribbean side of Costa Rica so we’re by Arenal Volcano. Hope we can find some animals this morning and it’s a beautiful morning.
The scenery in the river is really pretty, as you can see like the reflection of the trees in the water, it’s super clean, it’s really green. It’s just a gorgeous river to come and watch wildlife, you feel like you’re in like Jurassic Park almost.
The tour ends up at this local family’s house where we’re going to have some snacks and some drinks. The tour was really nice we saw a lot of good wildlife, it was a great day so it was a really awesome tour to see wildlife really close to La Fortuna and Arenal, if you guys want more information about the tour just click on the links below.

Guanacaste, Costa Rica - AMAZING!!! the Four Seasons Papagayo
The Four Seasons Costa Rica, located on the Papagayo Peninsula, closed its doors for a 30 million dollar renovation. They reopened December 2017 and I was one of the lucky ones to be able to experience it on their 1st day. It was absolutely amazing!!!
They are located on the tip of the Peninsula with 2 beaches on each side, one for adults only, very quiet and secluded and one for families, this is where all of the activities take place. They have 3 pools, the main pool located in the middle with 2 pools on each side. The main pool and one of the smaller ones are for families, the other small pool is for adults only. Make sure to enjoy their whirlpool grotto right next to the main pool.
This resort is breathtaking and right in the middle of the jungle where you will run into the local monkeys daily.
This is 5 star luxury at its finest as only the Four Seasons can do.
Make sure to come and stay, you wont be disappointed. They are located approximately 40 minutes from the Liberia Airport.
