Sentinel Peak in Tucson, Arizona
Travel with me to Sentinel Peak in Tucson, Arizona where I explore this iconic landmark's history and influence upon the city. The peak is popularly known as A Mountain because of the giant A on its side for the University of Arizona.
Additional Note: Solomon Warner erected a flourmill on the slope of Sentinel Peak between 1874-75. This mill led some people to refer to Sentinel Peak as Warner's Mill during that time.

Drive to the top of Sentinel Peak in Tucson, Arizona
Drive from the base of Sentinel Peak to the top where the giant A of the University of Arizona is located. From there I drive through the parking lot at the top of the mountain and then back down the peak. This visit to Sentinel Peak was on Thursday, August 22, 2013. I was on the peak between about 4pm to 4:40pm as monsoon storms were gathering nearby.
Check out my main video on Sentinel Peak which discusses the history of the mountain and the influence the peak has had on the city of Tucson.

Hiking Tucson Mountain Park - Golden Gate Mountain Summit
This video describes the climb up Golden Gate Mountain in Tucson Mountain Park the way it was on 12-27-2017. The 3.5 mile hike gained 1600 feet in elevation and took us about 4 hours to complete. We started and ended at the Yetman Trail head near Gates Pass. We started by going west on the Golgen Gate Trail and then scrambled up the west side of the mountain. While at the top we discovered a cairned use trail that we took down the northeast side of the mountain that connected up to the Yetman Trail .6 of a mile east of Yetman Trailhead. It is a fun and fairly difficult climbwith good views from the top.

Sonoran Desert Weedwackers at Tucson Mountain Park
The Sonoran Desert Weedwackers have been removing invasive grasses from Tucson Mountain Park since 2000. They work every third Saturday of the month year-round for about three hours. A smaller group also works on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month for about four hours.
Pima County staff provides the equipment and transportation to the site. The activity on Saturdays is moderate exertion whereas the Wednesday projects require a bit more stamina. The Weedwackers work year-round starting earlier (6:00am) during the summer and later (8:00am) in the winter. Scenic Gates Pass Road in Tucson Mountain Park - February 15, 2013
One of the most scenic drives in Tucson, Arizona, Gates Pass Road is where you can observe a great desert landscape populated by saguaros on steep mountain slopes and see truly spectacular sunsets. I made sure to stop at the popular Gates Pass Road overlook around sunset so I could snap a few photos. I've included them near the end of this video.
