Part of a 500 mile ride I took last weekend. This is an old section of Route 66 that was bypassed in 1953. It is probalably the best riding section of Route 66 in Arizona. Look out for the tar snakes

Travel Diary: Arizona Bike Week 3.15
I'm back from Arizona Bike Week 2015.
We spent 4 days in Scottsdale, AZ for bike week. It was my first time to Arizona - FUN! The desert was DRY and my skin is like a lizard now, but it was worth it!
Rode around to Mesa, Cave Creek, Jerome, and Sedona - and what a ride! Rented a bike from EagleRider AZ located in Tempe. They are a must if you are in the area and looking for a rental or even a purchase of a new ride for yourself!

Video RideAlong: Apache Trail past Tortilla Flat Part 1: on the way up
From Lost Dutchman (Brown road) and Apache Trail (SR88) to the end of the pavement 8 miles past Tortilla Flat
If you are short on patience, I suggest watching part 2 (coming back down). It gets twisty right away and the scenery is nicer IMO.
Shot with a G12 so audio is pretty noisy. Turn the volume down and put a good record on.
Phoenix car camping full time working
I did not share this with but if it were me I would do it this way. I would BUY A SAILBOAT yes you will look like a loon living out a sailboat in Phoenix AZ but read along and understand where I am going with this. Why get a RV most people buy them and realize that powering them cost so much in fuel they are just impossible to afford them even if the fuel prices are low as they are now. This is not going to last and you need to wake up to that reality now before you pain yourself into a lifestyle that relies on cheap fuel. Why SAILBOAT? Well you can rent a RV slip park a sailboat and buy a good reliable econobox to get to and from work. When it comes time to end your job and kick it have your boat towed either North to Seattle South down to the Gulf of Mexico or you can have it towed down To San Diego When you do this you don't have to pay for the big V8 to get it there think about it people buy trailers and boats then they have to have this monster V8 to tow it then they park their trailer in a storage lot for $50 a month or better and have to pay the fuel of that engine for 2 tows a year if they are lucky? 4 years later the realize they are paying all this extra money never getting the benefit of their toys because they work all the time to have the money for fuel insurance and brakes to stop their monster dinosaur. (compared to an econobox). Another way could be this way it is the MOST AFFORDABLE way to get this on. You find a motorcycle that can accept a trailer why a MC insurance is just $75 a year but for a car it is going to be $1200 a year. That is a difference of $0.20 a day vs $3.28 a day. HUGE difference. Plus if you can learn to live out a micro camper you will probably find somebody that will rent you a power cord to run your AC. What you do is put up a canopy structure soccer moms use place a rug on the ground and set up a screen enclosure. Get good quality lawn chairs that will hold up. You can have this life for under $3K if you DIY.
The trick is the dark side you have to go to the dark side. Why MC well not only insurance but you can find low miles bikes that have sit up and are no longer used. Don't kid yourself bikes can last 300 K miles there are a few out there. Think about it the bike has half the moving parts of a car so it is going to be MORE reliable. What is the dark side this is where you use a CAR TIRE in place of a MC tire. Trick is you never let the car tire go over 20 K miles the tread might be great etc but after 20K miles that is a car tire give it to a car get you a new tire. See bikes sit all that time because they ride the tires off them inside 5K miles hence you will probably find a bike with under 30 K miles.
You will either buy a micro camper I found one used for $2K after taxes $2.5K for lifetime registration. I did yard trials and you can't stay in this too long you need more head room so you must have other tools to make this work the camper is a vessel to carry the tents to support the camper to sleep in. What will happen is you will throw down a rug then pop up a 10x10 or 12x12 canopy along with some tarps. You will require a screen tent or you can screen in the canopy your choice. Thing is you can't watch tv or use the internet in the camper comfortably you will be in a lot of pain if you try it. The camper needs a roof pop up so you can sit on a stool and geek on the web or watch the TV.
Or you can go to Harbor Freight and buy a trailer put it together and build your own that would be best since it is going to allow you to do it just as you like. This or go to the factory and have them do your design. Problem is you don't usually know what you need until you try it. So sounds childish but build one out of cardboard and try it out. See what sort of space you need.
Forgive me I am having to deal with my bully wife as I try to write this. She is done I am getting where it is dangerous to tolerate her vicious tongue. K I will just put the links for you not much more I can do than that best way to give you the info is to share all the links I can think of.
