Aberdeen Falls is a picturesque 98 m (322 ft) high waterfall on the Kehelgamu Oya near Ginigathena, in the Nuwara Eliya District of Sri Lanka. Aberdeen is named after the place Aberdeen, the third largest city in Scotland and the capital of Aberdeenshire. Kehelgamu Oya is a major tributary of the Kelani River.

To reach Aberdeen Falls from Ginigathena town, one then must proceed along Ambatale Road up to the Buddha statue at the end of the road. Then one should park their vehicle and walk about 1.2 km along the road. Bathing in the middle of the pool and swimming to the middle has caused death to swimmers in the past. This waterfall is covered with a big stone complex behind.

මෙම දිය ඇල්ල පිහිටා ඇත්තේ නුවර එළිය දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ ගිනිගත්හේන ප්‍රදේශයේ කෙහෙල්ගමුව කඳු පන්තියට වන්නටය. මෙම දිය ඇල්ලේ උස මීටර් 98 ක්‌ පමණ වන අතර මස්‌කෙලිය ඔයේ අත්තක්‌ වන කෙහෙල්ගමු ඔයෙන් මෙය නිර්මාණය වේ. ඇබර්ඩීන් යනු ස්‌කොට්‌ලන්තයේ පිහිටි නගරයක්‌ වන අතර අතීත ඉංගී්‍රසි ආණ්‌ඩු කාලයේ මෙම වතුයාය පාලනය කළ පුරපුරේ නාමය මේ හා පටබැඳී තිබේ. කොළඹ සිට අවිස්‌සාවේල්ල, කරවනැල්ල, කිතුල්ගල හරහා ගිනිගත්හේන නගරයට ඇති දුර අවම වශයෙන් කි. මී. 115 ක්‌ පමණ වේ.

මෙම ඇල්ල නැරඹීමට මාර්ග කිහිපයක් භාවිත කල හැක.ඔබට මස්කෙළිය -දෙහිගස්තෙන මාර්ගය ඔස්සේ ගොස් තවත් 2 Km ක තරමක දුෂ්කර ගමනක් ඇත.නැතිනම් ගිනිගත්හේන නගරයෙන් ඇල්ල උඩ මාර්ගයේ යන යනවිට හුලන්වන්ගුව අසලදී ඇලගල ග්‍රාමය සමීපවත්ම සුන්දර ඇබර්ඩීන් ඇල්ල දුර සිට දර්ශනය වේ. කැලණි ගඟේ අතුගංගාවක්වන කෙහෙල්ගමු ඔයෙන් ඇබර්ඩීන් දියඇල්ල නිර්මාණය වෙලා තියෙනවා.

ඈත දුරාතීතයේදී මෙම ඇල්ල හඳුන්වා ඇත්තේ ‘ඇලිදෝනා’ ඇල්ල නමිනි. එදා විදේශීය වතු අධිරාජ්‍යයකට යටව පැවැති සමයේ අවට පිහිටුවාලූ තේ වත්තට තබා තිබූ ඇබර්ඩීන් නාමය පසු කලෙක මෙම ඇල්ලට තබා තිබීමෙන් අද වන විට එදා අප රට වැසියන්ගේ කටට හුරුව තිබූ ‘ඇලි දෝනා’ ඇල්ල ඇබර්ඩීන් ඇල්ල ලෙස හැඳින්විණි. එදා පටන් එම ඇල්ල අදටත් ව්‍යවහාර වන්නේ ඇබර්ඩීන් දිය ඇල්ල නමිනි.

Laxapana Falls is 126 m (413 ft) high and the 8th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 625th highest waterfall in the world. It is situated in Maskeliya area in Nuwara Eliya District, about 16 km (9.9 mi) from Maskeliya town on Maskeliya-Norton Bridge road, in a village called Kiriwan Eliya. It is formed by Maskeliya Oya near the confluence of Kehelgamu Oya and Maskeliya Oya which forms Kelani River. The falls gives its name to twin hydroelectric power stations, Old Laxapana Power Station which generates 50 MW of electricity and New Laxapana Power Station which generates 100 MW.

Here is the footage of us - adventure seekers exploring Aberdeen waterfall (98metres in height) once used to be a beautiful ,calm waterfall. We wanted to explore this waterfall during the heavy rainy season to witness her majesty and herself at her full force.
Aberdee falls starts from Kehelgamuwa River and joins Kelaniya River and flows to sea. Recently Norton Dam bridge was constructed under laxapana project which resulted in decresing the volume of water. However this time dam was open and here she is with her furious face..
