Kathmandu has often been by some as a flawless jewel in a unique setting. No other place in the world has the concentration of culture, art and tradition that exists in the Kathmandu valley (1300m.). Kathmandu is the crossroads for the many ethnic groups of Nepal and for visitors from all over the world every year. Nestled in the central hills of Nepal, Kathmandu is at once medieval and modern. The Kathmandu valley sprawls at the junction of two sacred rivers, Bagmati and Bishnumati. Just cross the Bagmati River to the south is Patan, on ancient city of temples, while Bhadgoon with its thousands of homes and temples shrines lies six miles to the east. More then two hundred years ago these three cities housed the Royal places of three different kingdoms that divided the valley palaces surviving today.

Trekking in Nepal Himalaya - Jiri to Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal
Everest base camp trekking in Nepal from Jiri trail was taken by Tenzing and Hilary to climb Mount Everest in 1953, and We did Everest base camp Trek and Kalapather trek taking the same trail in December 2014 with a group of friends/clients from Canada, Australia, UK and Ireland. We were planning to do all three passes trek, Everest base camp, Kalapather, Gokyo trek but it was snowing for 2 days so the passes got closed then we turn to do only Everest base camp and Kalapatther from the normal route.
Trekking in the Everest region starts either from the town of Jiri, accessible from Kathmandu by bus or private jeep, or from Lukla, a short flight from Kathmandu.
If you have a limited amount of time, then it is best to fly into Lukla from Kathmandu (although in order to avoid altitude sickness you will still need a minimum of 2 weeks to trek to Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar). But if you have the time it is well worth spending an extra week by walking in, which will give you ample time to improve your fitness and acclimatize for the high mountain trails. You will also enjoy the opportunity of getting off the beaten track and following in the footsteps of the early mountaineers on the old expedition route.

Miracle survival of Taiwanese, in Himalaya
Miracle survival: Missing Taiwanese trekker found after 47 days
As there has been much interest and many conflicting reports about the missing Taiwanese Trekkers in Nepal Ms. Liu Chen Chun, and Mr. Liang Sheng Yueh.
Here Asian Trekking uploading this video to give a complete account of the Search and Rescue efforts leading up to their discovery. On 26th march, the families of two Taiwanese trekkers visited Asian Trekking. The trekkers, who had been traveling with no guides or porters, had been reported missing for over two weeks since they failed to contact their families as scheduled on the 10th of March. Their families requested Asian Trekking to organize and conduct the Search and Rescue of the missing trekkers. Between 27th March- 10th April, a 4 member Asian Trekking Search and Rescue team was dispatched and tried to retrace the steps of the missing trekkers. They focused their search around Tipling, Somdang and Pangsang area but had to stop the search due to heavy snow cover and incoming bad weather. On 20th April – Asian Trekking Search launched a second attempt. The Rescue Team drove to Dhading besi, where they recruited a local man named Dawa Tamang to aide in the search due to his familiarity with the area in question. On 26th April, while searching in the Pangsung area the Asian Trekking search and rescue team noticed vultures flying over a deep ravine near Nachet Kharka and rushed there to investigate. While descending down towards the ravine through the forest, they spotted red cloth in a cave under a waterfall located an altitude of around 3600m. The location was not easily accessible so they had to climb down with the help of dry tree trunk. At around 11:45 they spotted the missing couple lying inside the cave. Hearing the men talking Liang Sheng Yueh slowly moved and greeted them. With great sorrow he pointed to Ms. Liu Chen Chun and told the team she was no longer alive. As per Liang the two of them were trapped in that place from 11th March when they tried to descend in the hopes of finding a settlement near the river down valley. While descending they slipped down on the snow and were trapped as they were unable to climb back up and out, nor climb down to due the steep cliffs on all sides. For 4-5 days they ate the food they carried with them and they managed to survive only on water and salt until they were discovered by the search team. Mr. Liang informed us that Ms Liu passed away just 3 days before the rescue. Asian Trekking Search and Rescue Team Member Mr. Madav Basnet contacted Asian Trekking Head Office in Kathmandu at 11:47. It was immediately established that a helicopter rescue by long line (rope-sling) would be the only possible way to extract Mr Liang. We were fortunate that Simrik Helicopter, who is specialized in long line rescue, could go to the spot immediately with expert long line pilot and team. Two helicopters were sent as we planned to bring Mr. Liang Sheng Yueh to a hospital in Kathmandu as soon as possible and another helicopter to bring the remains of Ms. Liu Chen Chun separately. The helicopter with Mr. Liang Sheng Yueh landed at Grande Hospital at around 4:30 PM and immediately the medical team took care of him. The second helicopter with Ms. Liu Chen Chun's remains landed at Kathmandu airport around 5:15 PM and the body kept at Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj. At 7:00 PM, the medical director, Dr. Chakra Raj Pandey MD, of Grande Hospital informed us that all the reports of Mr. Liang Sheng Yueh's medical condition is stable and that he is out of any critical danger. Mr. Liang remains admitted at the Grande Hospital in Kathmandu.
28th April, afternoon, arrival of Mr. Liu Yun Sung, father of Ms.Liu Chen Chun And Mr. Liang Taien Chin father of Mr. Lian Shen Yueh from Taiwan.
29th April, Post mortem of Ms. Liu Chen Chun held at Teaching Hospital Maharajgund and cremated her at Sywoyambunath by Buddhist ritual. Mr. Liu Yun Sung flew back to Taiwan with ashes of Ms. Liu Chen Chun.
01 May, Mr. Lian Shen Yueh discharged from Hospital and flew that evening with his father.
Though we are happy that Mr. Liang is back with his family to Taiwan, it is with sadness that we express our sympathies to the family of Ms. Liu Chen Chun. May her soul rest in peace.

The Aramean flag on Mount Everest (12/11/2018)
Congratulations to Sabri Sengo and Michael Saliba, both are Arameans from The Netherlands, who has successfully climbed the Mount Everest in Nepal. Arriving at Mount Everest on Monday 12 November 2018 and they raised the beloved Aramean flag. Many thanks Sabri/Michael and God Bless You! Tihe Suryoye!
You Want to Climb Mount Everest? Here’s What It Takes
Mount Everest is the tallest and most famous mountain in the world — a global beacon and metaphor wrapped in awe and mystery. It is also one of the most accessible big mountains in the world, bringing hundreds of climbers and thousands to its base camp in a typical season.
Q: How high is Mount Everest? At 29,029 feet (8,848 meters), Everest is the world’s tallest mountain. It straddles Nepal and Tibet.
Q: How do you get there? Most climb Everest from the Nepal side. From Kathmandu, Nepal’s bustling capital, mountaineers take a short flight to Lukla, then trek about 10 days to Everest Base Camp (17,500 feet). Most will spend weeks there in the spring, acclimating to the altitude with rest and day hikes, waiting for the route to Everest’s summit to open in May.

VISIT NEPAL 2017
,
Nepal’s name is in lights once again thanks to the travel experts at Lonely Planet, who named the country as No.1 best value destination for 2017 and No.5 on their hot list of countries to visit next year.
It will be welcome news to the Nepalese people who rely on tourism to make a living, following a series of disastrous years where the country hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons: plane crashes, fatal avalanches and earthquakes.
Nepal may have suffered a lot recently, but it is still one of the most popular places for adventure travel thanks to the diverse geography of the country – it really does offer everything.
In the north of the country you have the Nepalese Himalayas with eight of the ten highest mountains in the world. Thousands of trails criss-cross the land, providing almost limitless opportunities for hikers and climbers to get away from it all.
Trekking holidays in beautiful Nepal with Adventure Alternative..jpg
Then, in the tropical south there is abundance of jungle and with its low elevation and humid climate, it is the perfect destination for wildlife tourism. Safaris to see tigers, Indian rhino and elephant, clouded leopard and red panda are very popular. Birdwatchers need look no further than this country with over 900 species on its doorstep, including the national bird, a type of pheasant called a danphe, and the spiny babbler which is unique to Nepal.
Nowadays a better transport infrastructure will allow it to work as a professional tourism destination. A new international airport to be built near Pokhara will take some pressure off Kathmandu airport, and the many regional airports and mountain airstrips has made accessibility less of an obstacle.
Visit Nepal for trekking holidays with Adventure Alternative Nepal.jpg
I started visiting Nepal in the late 1980s and as a climber with lots of equipment I would fly into Delhi and take the three day bus journey to Nepal, often doing part of the journey by boat on the Ganges. I mingled with the hippies who had settled on Freak Street in downtown Kathmandu.
Kathmandu.jpg
It was a real adventure and going into the Himalayas had the cachet of being a trip into the wild. On one memorable trip I walked from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp in the winter and met almost no foreigners over the whole six week trip.
You might come for the scenery and the wildlife, but one of the most enduring memories will be the innate friendliness of the local people. There is no doubt that Nepal has capitalised on its reputation for being warm, inviting and helpful. In all my years of organising holidays there, I have rarely come across anyone who does not mention it.
Sherpas are one of the default images of Nepal thanks to their history with Mount Everest, but they make up only about 0.5% of the total population, which is a truly multicultural and multiethnic society with over ninety living languages and five main religions. Sherpa means Man from the East and they traditionally crossed the Himalayas from Tibet to settle in the Khumbu valleys near Everest. Their hard working, entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with an extraordinary selflessness on mountain expeditions has made the

How to go to Mustang
Mustang the district beyond the mountains! Lying to the North of Annapurna region, Mustang lies in the Trans-Himalyan zone, near to the Tibetan border on the Northern side. The rugged terrains and mountains looming over the valleys below carved by the ferocious Kali-Gandaki River, Mustang is one of the most famous trekking destinations in Nepal. Not only is Mustang famous among the foreigners, but Mustang is also famous among the Hindu Pilgrims. Thousands of hindu devotes from Nepal and India visit the Muktinath shrine every year, and the banks of Kaligandaki river in a famous place called Kagbeni. Kagbeni is also the gateway to Upper Mustang, once a forbidden Kingdom ‘the Kingdom of Lho’.
Lying to the western end of Manang district, Mustang is a major part of the world renowned Annapurna circuit. The shorter version the circuit usually terminates in Jomsom, the headquarters of Mustang. Also known as the Windy city, as per its high velocity winds.
How to get there (Mustang/Muktinath)?
Mustang, Muktinath reason is one of the very easily accessible trekking destination. You can reach the footsteps of Muktinath temples in a comfort of a four-wheeler or a little less comfort but enough adventure on your two-wheeler. Yet, you cannot take your own four-wheeler into Mustang, but you can take it up-to Beni, and from there you can take Jeeps or Bus to Muktinath. Beni is about 300 km from Kathmandu. Buses and Micro buses are available from Gongabu Bus Park which costs about 800 Rupees.
From Beni, you can take a local bus to Jomsom that leaves at specific time period, or you can take buses and jeep to Ghasa, from where you have to change the bus and then take another one to Jomsom. From Jomsom you have to change another bus. The tentative fares from Beni-Jomsom are listed below.
Beni to Ghasa- 390 Nrs
Ghasa to Jomsom- 410 Nrs
Jomsom to Muktinath – 300 Nrs
Jomsom is about 72 km from Beni and Muktinath is around 21 km from which make it a total of about 93 km of trip from Beni to Muktinath, which usually takes all day long because of the state of road and also the occupancy of bus seats.
The routes along the way have ample hotels, especially around Jomsom and Muktinath, there are plenty of good hotels.
How much does it cost?
The cost mostly depends on how one spends, but on a budget around 8000 should be enough for a trip and back.
Summerize Steps on Getting Mustang on Vehicles
1. Day 1 Kathmandu to Pokhara or Kathamndu to Beni [Our Recommendation is to stop at Beni rather than Pokhara so catch up the early local bus next morning]
2. Day 2: Pokhara to Jomsom or Beni to Jomsom
3. Day 3: Jomsom to Muktinath and Muktinath to Jomsom
4. Day 4 Jomsom to Pokhara or Jomsom to Beni [Our Recommendation is to stop at Pokhara so that you will get a chance to spend the evening at Pokhara]
5 Day 5: Pokhara to Kathmandu or Beni to Kathmandu.

ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP TREK
There are few treks that combine so many different landscapes and bring you so close to the base of 7,000 and 8,000 meter peaks in a such a short period of time as the Annapurna Base Camp Trek.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the most popular treks in the Annapurna region. The trail goes alongside terraced rice paddies, lush rhododendron forests and high altitude landscapes with the Annapurna Range in view most of the times.
The setting of Annapurna Base Camp at 4130 m is unique and incredibly spectacular, set amidst the majestic peaks of Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Machapuchhre (6993 m) and Hiunchuli (6441 m).
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek takes 7 to 12 days, depending on your itinerary and length of walking days. The itinerary presented here takes 12 days, starting from Nayapul (a 1 1/2 hour drive from Pokhara) and going north up to Ghorepani and the famous viewpoint at Poon Hill. From Ghorepani you go eastward to Chomrong and then north again entering the Modi Kola Valley which leads up to the Base Camp.
Many people trek the circuit Nayapul-Ghorepani-Ghandruk-Nayapul, which is very rewarding in itself. This trek can easily be done with children as well.
You can return via Jhinu Danda and give your tired muscles a well deserved rest in the delightful hot springs. Upon your return it is worthwhile visiting one of the Gurung villages of Ghandruk or Landruk.
The lodges in the Annapurna Trekking Region are well equipped with extensive menus ranging from the typical Nepali dahl bath (rice with lentils) to pizza and chau mein. Hot showers are readily available as well. If you are planning to trek in the winter months please check with a travel agency to confirm which lodges are open.
The Annapurna trekking region is easily accessible with different trailheads starting just an hour or two away from Pokhara.
Between Himalayan Hotel and Machapucchre Base Camp there is a risk of avalanches so make sure you have the latest information on trail conditions before setting off or hire a knowledgeable guide.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek can easily be done independently. It is possible to do this trek in all seasons, however, in the winter the Base Camp can sometimes be closed due to the snow level. In spring time the huge rhododendron forests are in full bloom which gives the trek an extra appeal.

In summer each year, the valley floor and alpine slopes of Langtang bloom profusely with primula, poppy and other alpine flowers that makes the trekking more exciting and memorable. Langtang trekking is the name given to the treks from the name of Langtang valley in central Nepal. Langtang is a narrow valley lying south of Tibetan border. The valley lies between main Himalaya range to the north and small snowy peaks to the south. For this trekking you catch a bus to Syabrubeshi via Trishuli Bajaar and Dhunche.
