Join as we visit Ljubljana, Slovenia in this travel guide covering some of the best things to do in the city including highlighting the local food and restaurant scene, museums worth visiting, the old town, castle, quirky neighborhoods and more. With a week in Ljubljana, Slovenia we had plenty of time to cover the main attractions in the city along with take some day trips. If you're thinking of visiting a weekend would be enough time for a busy trip but 3-4 days or longer would be more ideal for slower exploration. 10 Things to do in Ljubljana, Slovenia Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Prešeren Square is a central meeting spot in the heart of the Old Town, so it made sense to start our tour of Ljubljana here. You’ll find the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, lots of gelato shops, and the baffling bridge we just mentioned.
As for the reasoning behind the Triple Bridge and the famed dragon bridge, which is guarded by four dragons.
Ljubljana’s Central Market is another spot worth checking out.
We needed to sample some Slovenian food so we went to Allegria.
Sam ordered Zlikrofi (zhlee-krofi), a Slovenian dumpling stuffed with potato + lamb goulash along with Slovenian sausage with cabbage & potatoes.
Ljubljana Castle, which sits on Castle Hill overlooking the city. Built as a medieval fortress in the 11th century, Ljubljana Castle has seen many redesigns and renovations. Climb the Outlook Tower for 360 degree views of the city.
There are departures for cruises down the Ljubljanica. We boarded a cruise directly underneath the Love Lock Bridge, which is actually called Mesarski Most. It was our favourite activity in Ljubljana and it was a super relaxed way to watch the city.
Metelkova is home to the best street art.
One place we really enjoyed was Sarajevo 84, a restaurant specializing in Balkan cuisine. The portions massive & everything we ordered was delicious.
We had a feast featuring: grilled meat with pita and onions, baked beans and sausage, roasted peppers, and a flaky pastry stuffed with cheese. It only came to 23 Euros.
Speaking of galleries and museums, a few you’ll find include: the National Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art, and the National Museum of Slovenia.
We finished off at Tivoli, which is the largest park in Ljubljana.
And that’s it for our time in Ljubljana. Our visit was short, tasty, and relaxing, and we’re really glad we made some time to visit this underrated capital.

LJUBLJANA, Slovenia is our Favourite City!
We agreed that Ljubljana is a place where we could easily hang out for a few weeks. It has a relaxed, welcoming vibe and is far from over-run by tourists. The old part of the city is pedestrianised which adds a lot to the atmosphere and charm we experienced. It is also extremely budget friendly compared to Slovenia's immediate neighbours and we will definitely be back for more soon!

In this video we highlight the rest of our time spent in glorious Slovenia. From camp Bohinj, the Julian Alps and the stunning capital city of Ljubljana. We really did fall in love with sLOVEnia and wished we had spent a few more days in the country while traveling across Europe. Best European Airbnb | Barn In Slovenian Mountains + Travelling To Ljubljana With Endless Adventure
We found the best European Airbnb at a barn In Slovenian Mountains. We then travel to Ljubljana with the Endless Adventure for Christmas markets and turning on the lights.
The best part of the mountains besides the views was the copious amounts of animals. Although the Slovenian winter is freezing we would come back again, ideally in warmer weather.

TRIP TO SLOVENIA !!!
Join me for a trip to Slovenia! The Republic of Slovenia is located in southern Central Europe. The territory is mostly mountainous and has a population of 2.06 million people.
Our first stop was at Lake Bled, a lake in the Julian Alps, in the town of Bled. It’s an area roughly 0.56 sq mi (1.45 km2). The lake surrounds Bled Island on which there are several buildings including a pilgrimage church found on many postcards. We had a wonderful meal in the Bled Castle overlooking the lake.
The following day, we visited the Vintgar Gorge, a national park near the town of Bled. It’s carved by the Radovna River and has many picturesque pools and rapids and has the largest river waterfall in Slovenia.
From there, we drove to Kobarid, a settlement in Slovenia, where the Italian army retreated during the First World War in the Battle of Caporetto. Kobarid and its surrounding area is also known for its numerous outdoor activities and adventure sports.
If you’re in Slovenia, you have to visit Ljubljana. Ljubljana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It has a central geographic location within Slovenia, an important factor to its leading position. The Old Town section is only open to pedestrians, allowing you to enjoy a quiet stroll along the streets.
The Ljubljana dragon is the symbol of the city and symbolizes power, courage and greatness. You can see it perched on The Dragon Bridge in the northeast of Vodnik Square. Next, take a hike up to The Ljubljana Castle, a key landmark of the town that was constructed in the 11th century. We also visited The Church of St. Nicholas, a baroque style church that was built in the early 1700s.
In our last days in Slovenia, we sure to include a visite of the Škocjan Caves, a cave system that is part of the UNESCO list of natural and cultural world heritage sites and it ranks among the most important caves in the world. It harbours one of the largest known underground canyons in the world.
