French Quarter & Tree of Life (New Orleans, LA)
Amanda & Mike join some friends for a birthday bash in NOLA, checking out the French Quarter (Jackson Square, Bourbon Street, Frenchmen Street, and Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar [the oldest bar in the United States]) and Audobon park to see the Tree of Life (aka the Étienne de Boray Oak), a massive oak over hundreds of years old.
There's so much of New Orleans to explore and we couldn't capture everything, but we will be back!

French Quarter Hotels Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans
Kids Adventures with Sweetie Fella Aleks visited today Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter - our next destination:)
We wanted to be near the French Quarter that is why in our opinion this hotel has a great location. It is right off Canal st. so if you like a bit of peace, this is not the place for you, but we were lucky because we didn't hear anything! We got a room facing the quieter part :) Just be prepared - there are always swarms of people walking in front of the hotel doors. Inside, the decor is nice and the service is warm and accommodating. We really enjoyed it especially because of a perfect location. Right in the heart of the action at Bourbon Street. Great views. Sitting on the corner of Canal Street and Burbon!

OUR STORY
We are Josh and Kali from Seattle, Washington. In 2015 we decided to change our lives. We sold everything we owned bought a RV and a truck starting living in our RV full time in 30 days! Full time rv living was a major change for us. We hadn't made any plans to change to this rv life until one day it hit us we couldn't have the American Dream and travel to. Choosing to travel meant downsizing our life and becoming minimalists. It was the BEST decision we have ever made. Now we plan to travel non-stop in our 33ft. fifth wheel full time. NEW ORLEANS WALKING TOUR | French Quarter, Jackson Square, Bourbon Street
New Orleans is one of the most unique and romanticized cities in the United States. The vibrant French Quarter is always bustling with activity and celebrations. Bourbon Street is a must-visit for both the tourists and the locals. Local cuisine is a centuries long fusion of various cultures and styles. For us, the biggest WOW moment was when our waiter asked, would y'all like that beer to go?.
Our walking tour of New Orleans focused mainly on the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. Since we were staying in the French Quarter, it was easy to walk around and access the famous sights and smells. Traveling only by foot, our adventures took us through Bourbon Street, Canal Street, the Riverwalk, and Jackson Square. These are some of the most popular destinations for tourists, and also the areas that feature some of NOLA's finest restaurants.

NEW ORLEANS: Audubon Aquarium of the Americas | YOU WON'T BELIEVE Everything That We Saw
????WATCH NEXT: This is part 3 of a 3 part travel series of our family trip to New Orleans. Start watching from the beginning by watching this video:
Hey Travelers,
Today we are in New Orleans and going to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. To get there we took the Algiers Ferry because that looked like one of the fun things to do in New Orleans with kids.
We haven't taken the kids to the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, so we are hoping to do the entire Audubon Experience this year. We have been to many aquariums and this is our favorite!
As you walk through the aquarium there are many areas to explore from North and South America, from the Amazon to the Mississippi River, and from the swamp to the arctic.
The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, which is located along the Mississippi Riverwalk in New Orleans, is definitely a place to visit in New Orleans. You will see a variety of fish, including sting rays, penguins, sharks, and even a sea turtle and a whole lot of parakeets, which you can feed.
If you are looking for things to do in New Orleans in July or August, it's usually really hot outside, so the aquarium is a great place to get inside and cool off on a hot Louisiana day.
Have you ever been to the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans before? Let me know in the comments below, and if you are in NOLA, this is a great place to visit!
Also, let me know in the comments where you are watching from!
Happy Travels,

New Orleans: One of the USA's Most Fascinating Cities
New Orleans is a Louisiana city on the Mississippi River, near the Gulf of Mexico. The city is known for it's distinct French and Spanish Creole architecture, as well as its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage.
Nicknamed the Big Easy, it's known for its round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live-music scene and spicy, singular cuisine reflecting its history as a melting pot of French, African and American cultures.
Embodying its festive spirit is Mardi Gras, the late-winter carnival famed for raucous costumed parades and street parties.
The city is often referred to as the unique city in the United States. Let's find out more in the video.
Family Travel with Colleen Kelly - New Orleans, Louisiana
Family travel expert, Colleen Kelly, shows us how to let the good times roll in New Orleans, Louisiana. Accompanied by local parents, Colleen uncovers the city’s gems starting in the heart of the French Quarter to sample Beignets at the iconic French Market. We then take a tour of Mardi Gras World where artists design more than 80% of all parade floats; Colleen meets with a float designer to get the inside scoop on how these decorative floats are created. We then get a chance to make our own creations during a Bug Cooking Class at the Insectarium, the largest museum in the United States dedicated to bugs!
It’s always important to learn when you travel to new places with your family. The National World War II Museum is a treasure chest of information for visitors of all ages. Colleen meets a multigenerational family with personal ties to the war and learns how parents can pass down family history while seeing the different exhibits. But our trip to New Orleans wouldn’t be complete without a swamp tour in the bayou, followed by heart racing laps around the tracks at NOLA Motorsports for Kart racing. To round out our family vacation we learn the difference between cajun and creole cuisine and we dance the night away at Mulate’s Family Restaurant.
