3.International İzmir Art Biennial
The Izmir Art Biennial, which aims to create a meeting point in İzmir between the artists and the viewers from different cultures and has been organised since 2011, will be shared with art lovers with a topic of “Infinity”.
The Izmir Biennial plays an important role in the promotion of contemporary artists not only from Turkey but from a number of different countries in the international arena.
Artists are the ones who are able to use their power limitlessly to express their thoughts and reflect this in their art well.
There is infinity in their hearts, and also in their creation of art. They strive to make their infinite spirits to be apparent. That is why, they are very precious and indispensable.
As an example for society, artists exhibit their quality work in peace.
Their work is their response to life and daily events.
This is a silent scream, taking a deep breath, crying and laughing silently and making the invisible visible, holding each other tight with love.
Just one breath, which gives us life and soul. The power of anyone, who is aware of the rights and laws which make us realize the importance of the arts and the artists is his infinite breath.
Societies should always be involved in all kinds of artistic events sincerely.
Art and artists should be kept away from the political fights and any conflicts. On the contrary, they should be supported by the governments.
Societies who maintain this support keep the spirit of art alive and also inspiring.
The unique energy of the art contributes to world peace.
The number of artistic activities in a community is one of the best indicators of the cultural development, freedom of speech and expression level of that society.
This International arts organization not only contributes to economic development of that city and the country, but also enriches the recognition and reputation of those countries and the cities.
This idea was the most important motivation for us to organize the first international art biennial in Izmir.
With the participation of 400 artists from 47 countries, we’ve proved that Izmir has the capacity to host such great international organization; on the other hand, we’ve tried to fullfil our responsibilities to show and promote the unique historical culture and beauty of our cities and the country to the world.
Seba Art Galleries made 438 artists from 53 countries come together in the 2nd International Izmir Art Biennial through the excellence of providing them with the opportunity of expressing their identity via art.
Artists are the best example of a presentation of contrastinf thouhts and opinions.
Black and white could take place in the same line which is a victory of art. This language is the only language to accomplish to be human.
The ones, who can hear and understand art and artists know how short life is and therefore must be led perfectly.
Artists are a symbol of respect for the feelings of each other, are the best examples of engagement in love. The language of art is constructive and restorative,and it teaches to see, hear, try to understand.There is no vandalism, anger and violence in its expression. It wraps all wouds. Artists are important protectors of free thought.
Very special thanks to all art lovers, friends and directors who stood by us and supported a lot during the 3rd. International Izmir biennial.

월드뮤직앙상블 '이도'는 한국전통음악을 그 근간에 두고 인도음악, 재즈, 록 등의 다양한 연주어법들을 수용하여 동시대성을 획득하려 한다. 전혀 다른 장르의 연주자들이 한 데 모여 연출하는 음악적 색감과 사운드는 매우 독창적이다. 전통음악에 대한 깊은 이해를 바탕으로 만들어진 음악의 구조는 단단하고 명쾌하며, 긴장과 이완의 포인트를 정확히 아는 밀도감 있는 앙상블은 더할 나위 없이 칼칼하다. World Music Ensemble E-DO's name comes from Yi Do, the given name of Sejong the Great. Inspired by King Sejong's love for his people and desire to seek their good, the members of World Music Ensemble E-DO seek to make music in the same spirit. yeominrok is a production based on Yeominnak, a song composed by King Sejong for the enjoyment of the people. The philosophy behind the music of World Music Ensemble E-DO, modeled after King Sejong's creation of Yeominnak, is to create music for the modern era that can similarly be enjoyed by all, and to share it freely in Korea and beyond. Presenting audiences with the traditions of gugak as well as modern Korea music, not to mention an engaging mix of traditional and modern instruments, World Music Ensemble E-DO highlights the beauty and virtues of traditional Korean Music. The group's works include original songs based on traditional music as well as fresh interpretation of the traditional repertory. E-DO Biography. İzmir Travel Guide - Turkey Amazing Atmosphere
Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey with a population of around 4 million, the second biggest port after Istanbul, and a very good transport hub. The fact that almost half of its population of 4 million are under the age of 30, makes İzmir a city full of life. The city hosts tens of thousands of university students, educates scientists, artists, business leaders and academics. It is a rapidly growing city on the Central Aegean coast of Turkey.
Once the ancient city of Smyrna, İzmir is now a modern, developed, and busy commercial center, set around a huge bay and surrounded by mountains. The broad boulevards, glass-fronted buildings and modern shopping centers are dotted with traditional red-tiled roofs, the 18th century market, and old mosques and churches, although the city has an atmosphere more of Mediterranean Europe than traditional Turkey.
İzmir owes its position as an economically and socially dynamic city to its location, climate and the fact that it has been a home to many different cultures and religions. Persians, Ancient Greeks, Assyrians, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans are just a few of the dozens of different civilizations that the city has hosted throughout its long history.
Due to its geographical location, similar climatic features are observed in almost every part of the province. Since the average number of sunny days reaches up to almost 300 a year, the solar potential is very high in İzmir.
Public ferries are easy, fast inside the coast and gives a nice shot of Izmir. Preferable to every other transportation in nice weather. Popular routes include; Konak-Karsiyaka, Alsancak-Karsiyaka, Konak-Bostanli and Karsiyaka-Goztepe. There is an extensive public bus system which covers all of the city. Many taxis with reasonable price. There is also a metro line connecting city centre/Konak Square with the northeastern suburb of Bornova.
Izmir is a member of World Gourmet Cities Network (DELICE), a network with 22 cities from different parts of the world. Became a member in 2015, Izmir is the 23rd city in the network. In Izmir there are many hotels which are suitable for all tastes and budgets. Hilton, Swissotel and Movenpick are just a few minutes away by foot from Cumhuriyet Meydani (Republic Square) Hotel Ibis is very close to the city center, located nearby Alsancak Railway Station. Also there is Crowne Plaza, which is about 30 min. from center.
Standing on Mount Yamanlar, the tomb of Tantalus was excavated by Charles Texier in 1835 and is an example of the historic traces in the region prior to the Hellenistic Age, along with those found in nearby Kemalpaşa and Mount Sipylus. The Agora of Smyrna is well preserved, and is arranged into the Agora Open Air Museum of İzmir, although important parts buried under modern buildings wait to be brought to light. Serious consideration is also being given to uncovering the ancient theatre of Smyrna where St. Polycarp was martyred, buried under an urban zone on the slopes of Kadifekale.
One of the more pronounced elements of İzmir's harbor is the Clock Tower, a marble tower in the middle of the Konak district, standing 25 m (82 ft) in height. It was designed by Levantine French architect Raymond Charles Père in 1901 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the ascension of Abdülhamid II to the Ottoman throne in 1876. The clock's workings were given as a gift by the German Kaiser Wilhelm II, a political ally of Abdülhamid II.
