Ախթալայի վանական համալիր (նաև Պղնձահանք), 10-րդ դարում հիմնադրված պարսպապատ վանական համալիրը, գտնվում է Հայաստանի Լոռու մարզի Ախթալա գյուղում՝ Երևանից 185 կմ հյուսիս։
Միջնադարում վանքը հայտնի էր որպես Պղնձահանքի վանք։ Կիրակոս Գանձակեցին իր «Հայոց Պատմությունում» հիշատակում է, որ իշխան Իվանե Զաքարյանը մահացավ 1241 թ և նրա դին ամփոփվեց Պղնձահանքում, որը Իվանեն նախկինում խլել էր հայերից և դարձրել ուղղափառ եկեղեցի։ Դարձնելով ուղղափառ եկեղեցի, ուղղափառություն ընդունած Իվանե Զաքարյանը այն վերակառուցեց և անվանեց Ախթալա։
Սուրբ Աստվածածին եկեղեցու պատերը նկարազարդված են հոյակապ, հրաշալի պահպանված որմնանկարներով։ Որմնանկարները կատարվել են XIII դարում, երբ եկեղեցին վերափոխվեց քաղկեդոնականի։

Akhtala Monastery - Ախթալայի Վանք
Akhtala (Armenian: Ախթալայի վանք; Georgian: ახტალის ტაძარი); also known as Pghindzavank (Armenian: Պղնձավանք, meaning Copper-mine Monastery) is a 10th-century fortified Armenian Apostolic Church monastery located in the town of Akhtala in the marz of Lori, 185 kilometers (115 mi) north of Yerevan. The monastery is currently inactive. The fortress played a major role in protecting the north-western regions of Armenia (Gugark) and is among the most well preserved of all in modern Armenia. The main church at the compound is famous for its highly artistic frescoes, which cover the inside walls, the partitions, and the bearings of the building. The modern name of Akhtala was first recorded in a royal decree of 1438. The etymology of the name Akhtala is believed to be of Turkic origin, meaning white glade. The original Armenian name of the settlement where the monastery is built is Pghindzahank, which means copper mine.
Akhtala Monastery & Archis - The Garden & The Dinner With Friends
After a few days of travelling we arrived at Hotel Qefo, which offers a great view over Archis and the valley.
We made use of our chance and visited Akhtala in the neighbouring Lori Province and discovered the Monastery as well as the ruins left there.
According to the legend of the two rings that our tour guide Mariam told us about, each couple which walks through those two rings will get married within the next year. For Mariam and her husband it worked out, congratulations!! :-)
Afterwards we visited the beautiful garden of Mariam's family, tried some fresh fruit right from the trees, explored her brother's garage where he works on his Mercedes Benz as well as other cars & busses.
In the evening we had dinner with friends from the village of Archis, enjoyed the shashlik and other local delicacies and had a walk through the community school. After all, it was another great day in Armenia...

Over 250 children and youth of the village now have a playground for the first time. This playground is a loving gift to the CHILDREN OF AKHTALA in memory of MRS. TAMARA TOUMANI YEGHIAZARIANS. Representing the family Vahan Saroians, Mrs. Yeghiazarians son, attended the grand opening of the playground personally experiencing the laughter and joy in not only the children but also the community

ABOUT AKHTALA VILLAGE
Akhtala (Armenian: Ախթալա), is a town and municipal community in the Lori Province of Armenia, located along the Shamlugh river, on the slopes of Lalvar mountain, at a distance of 186 km north of the capital Yerevan and 62 km north of provincial centre Vanadzor.
Akhtala has 2,100 residents, 2 schools with 245 students and one kindergarten with 60 kindergarteners.
The 10th-century Akhtala Monastery is among the most well-preserved monasteries in modern Armenia. The main church of the complex is famous for its highly artistic frescoes, which cover the inside walls, the partitions, and the bearings of the building. The nearby Holy Trinity Church dates back to the 13th century, locate around 500 meters northeast of the monastery.
Akhtala has a house of culture and 2 public libraries.
The town is the home of the annual Armenian Barbecue Festival (Armenian: Հայկական Խորովածի Փառատոն Khorovatsi Paraton), since its first edition in 2009. It is annually celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of August. Many types of Armenian kebab, locally known as khorovats is being introduced during the festival. During the 2017 celebration (9th edition), around 1500 kg of meet was grilled during the festival, with around 40 participant cookers.
