Took a day off from work to go spend a day in Seward, Alaska. So much to explore and so much beauty to take in on this Alaskan Adventure!
Alaska always provides so much opportunity for exploring and adventure! My cousin Zach and I set out to do some exploring over in Seward for this vlog! Found an abandoned coal terminal, visited the abandoned Jessie Lee house and then ended the day with climbing on Exit Glacier! It was truly an amazing day!

Talkeetna, Alaska
Recorded June 29, 2007.
Talkeetna is a census-designated place (CDP) in Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska. Talkeetna is located at the confluence of three rivers, the Susitna, Chulitna and Talkeetna. Flightseeing, rafting, mountain biking, hiking, camping, fishing and hunting make up a large portion of the local economy. Talkeetna is a 2.5 hour drive from Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska. The core downtown area is classified as a National Historic site, with many buildings dating from the early 1900s including Nagley's General Store, Fairview Inn and The Roadhouse.
From:
Talkeetna Alaska
Talkeetna is the staging area for over 1,000 climbers who attempt to climb Denali each year. The local Roadhouse is a favorite among returning climbers. Located at the confluence of three major rivers, the town keeps its mining history alive with renovated miners' cabins used as lodging, shops and restaurants. The rivers also lend to a multitude of activities like guided river rafting, boat tours and sport fishing. Set on a ridge just above the town, the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge offers majestic views of Denali, the tallest peak in North America, assuming the weather cooperates. Denali and the Alaska Range are often hidden in clouds, as they were on May 30th when I visited.
Vacation Trail Running in Talkeetna Alaska
Vacation Trail Running in Talkeetna Alaska // Are you a runner? Have you been to Alaska or would you like to go? Today I am doing my vacation trail running in Talkeetna Alaska. Once again, this was a gorgeous run and the trail was only a short distance from the hotel: the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.
If you find yourself in Talkeetna, this is a great trail (several trails) at the Talkeetna Lakes Park.

Glass-domed Train from Talkeetna to Denali, Alaska
As our train meandered across the unadulterated landscape, I found that I was reassuring myself that it was real. Such scenery…as though it was “too beautiful” to be true. I rode along with Awe, Wonder, and Amazement, as we all shared in an exchange of childlike fascination. While being a train ride, I’m inclined to default to recommending it, but truly, this stretch of track will lead you through a mere part of the heart of Alaska, but it will invite you to the center of your being, where you're reacquainted with your youth.
This ride was just over four hours, where passengers relaxed in their comfortable seats, while enjoying refreshments and narration, or enjoyed the brisk air on the cars’ “porches.” Lunch was enjoyed on the lower level of the car. All luggage, carry-ons included, were stowed, not to be seen again until disembarkation. I should note that the cars we rode in on this trip were private cars, not to be confused with Alaska Railroad’s Goldstar Service cars, found on its website; I indulged in one, though, to Seward:

Alaska Mountain Range | The Only Road In
Free Access.
This is just about as far as you can drive into the Alaska Mountain Range, not too far from Denali. I may be wrong, but from my map research this is about it. And by drive in I mean freely, without paying the park fees that restrict you to 12 miles or so up in the main park. I also don't mean the highly traveled Parks Highway. This road is a hundred or more miles south of the park entrance.
Float Flying with Sarah - Alaska Backcountry | Alaska: Part 9
Flying a seaplane is absolutely amazing. I'm not sure how else to describe this video... If you have the opportunity to fly a seaplane, do it. It's awesome!

OGV Off Grid Venture - Overland to Alaska with Dogs and Bears - National Forest Dispersed Camping
Welcome to my channel. To kick it off, here's a compilation of my overland adventure with my dogs Ice and Skye, 8000+ miles from California to Alaska in the summer of 2018. Took us through every state on the west coast visiting some of the most beautiful environments I've ever scene and had one of the greatest adventures of my life. Traveled through Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington, British Columbia to Alaska and back down through Oregon to Southern California.
Purchased the discover pass and dispersed camped in our awesome National Forests. This was my first time doing a road trip this big let alone with my dogs and it went great! The dogs helped keep me safe (chased away bears twice) and were the best of companions on the journey. Would love to help anyone with questions they have about it.
Was able to find some great locations by browsing overland forums on Google, exploring with offline maps using the Here app, and even talking to rangers at a station helped me find one of my favorite areas in Idaho.
Custom bug netting the camper shell windows was a crucial victory as well as the blackout curtains. Used hockey tape and Velcro with super glue to a roll of window netting I cut to make perfectly sealed windows. A fold up mattress from Costco and the Lifetime 10 day cooler from Walmart impressed me as well. Adding the roof rack lights and bumper light bar came in real handy for spotting wildlife and avoiding rough spots off-road.
Since then I've added 35 tires and purchased a 30+acre forest land and cabin up in Washington to be my home away from home for future adventures. Posted a video of the adventure here if you are interested I will also be posting future videos to Off Grid Venture this summer.

Road Tripping to Talkeetna, Alaska
We took off on our first camping trip of the year to South Rolly Lake. We go exploring in the small town of Talkeetna in search of their Mayor, Stubbs the cat! We got hit with a 5.1 earthquake and had to use the bear spray. And a family camping trip just wouldn't be complete with out someone throwing up.

Moose Pass, AK RV camping 2019 | Alaska Boondocking | Alaska Float Plane Glacier Tour | RV Alaska
We found the most perfect boondocking spot {ever} in the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. The large gravel lake front property was located in Moose Pass and was so spacious and provided a great central location to all the sites in the peninsula. It is located about 40 minutes outside of Seward (which quickly became our favorite Alaskan town).
We camped here for about 6 weeks and it was SO nice to settle in and just enjoy our time. The kids played non-stop outside in the nature as they lovingly called it, went swimming in the lake and rode bikes non stop. They made a lemonade stand one weekend and we spent time picking fireweed and learning how to make jam.
Andrew and Corbin rode of the float planes they would watch take off and land by us. It flew over an amazing ice field and glacier. We spent time kayaking in the lake and exploring Seward. Our first northern lights experience even happened at Moose Pass which made it that much more special for us. We cant wait to share all the adventures we went on all while keeping out rig stationary. Until next time....
