A walk on the Anchorage Overlook Trail in Anchorage Alaska. Located at the Glen Alps and Flat Top Mountain Trailheads. I used my Gopro Karma Grip with a Gopro 5 Camera. Video setting was at 4K & 30fps. Recorded on Christmas Day December 25th 2017.

Hiking Flattop - Anchorage, Alaska
Flattop is a 3.3 mile roundtrip hike up and down a sometimes steep and very well trafficked mountain that starts at the Glen Alps Trailhead, provides an excellent feel for scrambling in the Chugach , and finishes on top of what is most likely Alaska’s most summated peak.

Flattop Mountain is located in Anchorage Alaska. Probably the most popular hike in Alaska. I've been close to the peak of Flattop before but today was the first time of making it all the way to the top. Near the top I was literally climbing on all fours and not trying to look at the shear dropoff.

Tony Knowles Coastal Trail Photos - Anchorage Alaska
165 photos from the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail in Anchorage Alaska. I started on the south end of the trail and walked a little less than 10 miles to Westchester Lagoon in downtown Anchorage. The photographs were taken on July 15th from early to mid afternoon. I used my Fujifilm xp90 digital camera with an automatic setting.
Here is some more information about the trail I found online: The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail is a one of the most beautiful coastal trails in the nation; the trail gently winds along the coast eleven miles from downtown to the chalet at Kincaid Park and is by far Anchorage's most popular trail. Leave the bustling city behind, and explore a local treasure that tells a long tale of natural and human history. Skirt the fault line of the '64 quake, stroll through scented forests, look for moose, and take in sweeping vistas where you can spot beluga whales and North America's highest peak, Mount McKinley also known as Denali all in a single view.

The park is bounded on the south by Turnagain Arm, on the west by Knik Arm, and on the north by Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Noted for Nordic skiing trails, in snowless months the park is frequented by runners, bikers, hikers, archers, dog-trainers, motocross users, disc golfers, soccer teams, and rollerskiers. Winter Hiking in Alaska | How We Almost Died
Winter Hiking in Alaska / Eagle River Nature Center and Thunderbird Falls
EAGLE RIVER NATURE CENTER
After waking up ready to explore another day in Alaska in the winter, we opted to drive about 45 minutes East of Anchorage towards Chugach State Park to visit the Eagle River Nature Center and hike on one of the trails.
When we arrived at the Eagle River Nature Center, they were having a special Saturday event – complete with pancakes, hot chocolate, and a family folk band performance planned for that evening. We basically picked the perfect day.
THUNDERBIRD FALLS
On the surface, this seemed like an easy winter hike in Alaska – 1.8 miles in and out hike to a viewing platform for a frozen waterfall. Sure, let’s do it! We had ice grippers on our shoes and winter layers on so what could go wrong?
