Alaska Vacation: Snowboarding & Skiing at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood Alaska
This video is our journey skiing & snowboarding on Mt. Alyeska, in Girdwood, Alaska. Avery took a lesson from the Ski School there and I went up and did some skiing myself. After, we took a stroll around the block from our Air BNB and played in the snow.

This is one of the most beautiful drives in America. From Anchorage, we take the Seward Highway southbound, out of town, across Potter Marsh and onto the coast of Turnagain Arm, for a stunning view of the Kenai Peninsula's snow-capped mountains. The video ends with a brief tour of the Alyeska Resort area, at the upper end of Turnagain Arm.

Alyeska Ski Resort
A visit to Alyeska Ski Resort in Girdwood, AK!
We took a day trip to the Alyeska Resort, in Girdwood, Alaska while we were visiting there. If you’ve followed our travels, you know that we were rained on nearly every day, and this day didn’t fail to provide.
Normally, you get great, beautiful views of the mountain, but….not so much. We did get to see some nice scenery, but as far as having stunning photos, that didn’t work out too well.
While there, we took the tram up the mountain. There is the option of hiking it, or even using mountain bikes, but with the rainy weather, we weren’t feeling it. That, and I’m not sure I’m up to riding a bike down the ski trails.
At the top of the tram, we had lunch in the little restaurant, which was actually better than expected. Did a little wandering around, took some pics, and headed back down.
All in all, it was a nice visit - if you go, try to get there on a nice day, as it does have the potential to be breathtaking. There’s also nothing like getting up the mountain and looking down on the clouds when the weather provides that view.

Last ski down, Alyeska mountain, Alaska
The last run off the top of Alyeska mountain resort, Girdwood, Alaska. A beautiful day in March, time was about 5:30PM, and the lift had just closed behind us (the bell ring). We were only followed by a few lift operators. Sadly, they don't have night skiing today. In the distance, Turnagain Arm, facing toward Anchorage 35 miles to the north.
