This palace (Amar Mahal) was built in the 19th. century for Raja Amar Singh by a French architect (as per Wikipedia). In recent times it has been converted into a museum. This video is a tour of this place. It is situated in Jammu, J&K, India. Though I couldn’t cover everything displayed over there but I’ve brought some of it to you. The Hari Niwas Palace is a palace in Jammu, India. It overlooks the Tawi river on one side and on the other side the Trikuta hills.
The palace was built by the Hari Singh, the last maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir (1895 - 1961)

The Amar Mahal Palace in Jammu was constructed in the 1890s for Raja Amar Singh, a king of the Hindu Dogra dynasty that formed the royal house of Jammu and Kashmir.
Built on the lines of French architecture, the palace was converted into a museum in 1975 and a library of around 25,000 antique books, with various exhibits including a gold throne, miniature paintings, and many rare art collections.
Through a large collection of portraits of the royal family,which are also on display inside the museum, the place depicts the life of king Amar Singh and his family.
Constructed in European castle style with red sandstone, the palace has sloping roofs with tall towers. So much so, it was once the tallest building in the state of Jammu.

In this video , you can see Amar Mahal Palace , located in Jammu, now converted into a museum was built in 1890 for Raja Amar Singh , a king of Dogra Dynasty that formed the royal house of Jammu and Kashmir.
Ideally , Amar Mahal Palace is situated on the bank of River Tawi in Jammu and it offers a magnificent view of Shivalik ranges and Tawi River.
Built on the lines of French architecture , the palace was converted into a museum in 1975 by Dr. Karan Singh ( son of Maharaj Hari Singh )and a library of around 25, 000 antique books , with various exhibits including a golden throne weighing 120 kg , Kangra miniature paintings and rare art collections.
It was the last seat of Dogra emperor and a great collection of pictures of regal family have also been put on show.
Built in European castle style, the palace has sloping roofs with turrets and tall towers and constructed in red sandstone with red bricks which stands amidst most picturesque horizons of Jammu.
This palace is located adjoining the Hari Niwas Palace , erstwhile residence of Maharaj Hari Singh and now their descendants converted this palace into a heritage hotel in the year 1990 on Jammu - Srinagar NH1.

The Amar Mahal Palace is a palace in Jammu, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, India, which has now been converted into a Museum. It was built in the nineteenth century for Raja Amar Singh, a Dogra king by a French architect on the lines of a French Chateau. The palace was donated to the Hari-Tara charitable trust by Dr. Karan Singh for use as a museum.
It has many exhibits including a golden throne weighing 120 kg, Pahari miniature and Kangra miniature paintings, a library of 25,000 antique books and many rare art collections

Amar Mahal Palace Jammu/ Complete Commentary on J&K Royal Family/3D painting of Nehru ji
This museum is housed in the Amar Mahal Palace, built in 1862 in a unique, French-chateau style of architecture. Located atop a hill overlooking the Tawi river, 4 rooms of the palace have been converted into art galleries and historic museums, depicting the royal history of Jammu.
The star of this museum is the golden throne of Jammu, weighing a whopping 120 kgs, all pure gold. The art collection here is also quite impressive, with paintings of M F Hussain and Laxman Pai on display, among other famous Indian contemporary painters. Another interesting aspect is the Pahari Paintings displayed here, depicting tales from the Mahabharata and other folklore, especially those of Nal Damyanti. The museum also organises heritage walks around the complex to give detailed insights into the history of Jammu and surrounding cities.
The palace was the last official residence of the Dogra Dynasty, and a large collection of portraits of the royal family are also on display in the Museum. It is well located adjoining the heritage hotel known as the Hari Niwas Palace Hotel, in the heart of the city, on the road to Kashmir.

Mubarak Mandi is a palace in Jammu, India. The palace was the royal residence of the maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir from the Dogra dynasty. It was their main seat till 1925 when maharadja Hari Singh moved to the Hari Niwas Palace in the northern part of Jammu. The palace is located in the heart of the old walled city of Jammu and overlooks the Tawi river.

Amar mahal is a sight to behold. This grand Palace reminds one of a dreamy French castle, with slopping roofs and tall towers. It is a beautiful palace of red sand stone which stands amidst most picturesque horizons of Jammu. Beautiful green view of Shivalik hills in the North and river Tawi below down add to the grandeur of the building once the residential palace of Raja Amar Singh.
Now, open to tourists, the Amar Mahal which has been converted into a museum, houses the city's finest library of antique books and paintings. An entire series of miniatures on the epic Nal- Damyanti can be seen there in the museum. The most spectacular possession of museum is a 120 Kg. pure gold throne on which maharaja used to sit. The throne is placed in a hexagonal room with a door opening towards the forest view of Shivalik hills and deep down Tawi river. The museum also has a library in which about 25,000 books on various subjects and disciplines have been preserved.However, it was not built until the 1890s. Maharani Tara Devi, wife of the late Maharaja Hari Singh (son of Raja Amar Singh) lived in this palace till her death in 1967. Subsequently, her son Dr. Karan Singh and his wife Mrs. Yasho Rajya Lakshmi converted the palace into a museum to house rare books and works of art, with the objective of Encouraging artistic talent, to establish fine arts centre and to collaborate with other like minded institutions for promotion of Indian arts. For this purpose, they transferred the palace property to a trust named as the Hari-Tara Charitable Trust. Dr. Karan Singh, voluntarily surrendered the Privy Purse paid to him by the Government of India as a former ruler of Jammu, one of the Princely state of India, and used the funds to set up this museum named in memory of his parents. The museum was inaugurated by the late Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India, on April 13, 1975. To promote the stated objectives, the Trust arranges guided tours, book readings, lectures, film shows and hobby classes and other visitor friendly activities in the Museum. Scholarly exchanges, workshops and exhibitions are also regular features held by the Trust.[5][6] The Dogra-Pahari paintings displayed in the museum were creation of the second half of the 18th century in Jammu and Himachal Pradesh of the Kangra school of art. To quote the words of Dr Karan Singh, the Raja behind the setting up of the Museum, The whole effect is to transport one into a fascinating miniature world with its own aura and ethos [7]

The Hari Niwas Palace is a palace in Jammu, India. It overlooks the Tawi river on one side and on the other side the Trikuta hills. The palace was built by the Hari Singh, the last maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir (1895 - 1961) in the early 20th century, who shifted here in 1925 from the older Mubarak Mandi Palace. Here he spent last days of his stay in Kashmir, before shiting to Bombay (now Mumbai). The building is an art-deco structure. The descendants of the maharaja converted the palace into a heritage hotel in 1990. On the grounds of the estate lies also the Amar Mahal Palace museum.
