Amaravathi Museum
The Archaeological Museum at Amaravati houses mainly Buddhist relics. The antiquities found here include collections from Buddhist sites in Andhra Pradesh which belong to the period between 3rd century BC to 12th century AD. It contains panels, chakras and caskets containing relics, broken railings and sculptures etc. The exhibits are arranged in different galleries.
Amaravati (Lat. 160 34' N, Long. 800 17'E) is situated on the right bank of the river Krishna at a distance of 35 km north of the railway station of Guntur town. It is also a center of pilgrimage, known as Amareswaram.
The Amaravati school of art occupies a pre-eminent position in the history of Indian Art. With its beginning in 3rd century BC the Amaravati unfolds its chapters through the galaxy of sculptural wealth that once adorned the Mahachaitya the majestic monument of the Buddhists situated here with its history extending over a period of a millennium and a half.

The Dhyana Buddha statue is a statue of a Buddha in Amaravathi, India.
The recorded history of Amaravati and nearby Dharanikota dates to 5th century BCE. It was the capital of Satavahanas who ruled from 3rd century BCE to 3rd century CE who are much favor in Buddhism expanded it. The most important historical monument in Amaravathi town is the Mahachaitya
It is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India which maintains a site museum known as an old museum.
The Dhyana Buddha statue of 125 ft (38 m) is located at Amaravati. It is situated on the banks of Krishna river in 4.5 acres (1.8 ha) with eight pillars on a Lotus pandal.
The statue has a museum inside it, which consists of sculptures depicting Buddhist significance. The eight pillars signify path for salvation followed by Buddha, four zones for noble truths and five Ayaka pillars for stages of life.
APTDC is going to complete the Theme Park in front of the statue which is said to be opened for Public in 2018.

The great Stupa at Amaravati, India ( British museum ). The Amarāvatī collection in the British Museum consists of over 120 different pieces made from a limestone called Palnad marble, although the material is certainly not marble and the source of the stone in the Palnad quarry not decisively proven.
The figurative sculptures are nearly all in relief, with many of the most crowded scenes illustrating some of the Jataka tales, a large body of literature with complex accounts of the previous lives of the Buddha.
