American Canyon Trail Hoist
Cool, Calif. – On May 12, 2016 at approximately 9:30 a.m. while the crew of California Highway Patrol Helicopter 20 (H-20) was flying over the Folsom Lake area, they monitored a call of a utility vehicle that went over the side of a canyon with injuries.
It was reported that three trail maintenance personnel were riding in the small utility vehicle along the trail when they rolled over down a 40 foot embankment and ejected all occupants. A female passenger, despite her injuries, was able to crawl back up to the trail and hike out until she received a cell signal to call 9-1-1. The crew learned that the location was on the American Canyon Trail near the community of Auburn Lake Trails in Cool, CA. Since H-20 was in flight over Folsom Lake, they arrived on scene in minutes. Due to the heavy foliage, the crew was unable to see the victims but were able to direct ground crews to the immediate area based on the reported distance from the trailhead and the fact the vehicle was overturned in a creek.
The ground crews located all occupants and requested H-20 remain on scene for hoist operations due the the steep and rugged terrain. After all occupants were assessed, it was determined that the reporting female needed to be flown to the hospital. Ground crews packaged her in the Bauman bag and prepared her for a hoist. H-20 hoisted her from the scene and transported her to Greenwood Helispot and transferred care to CalStar due to fuel restraints. She was flown to Sutter-Roseville Medical Center for treatment. The other parties were removed by ground personnel.

From Source to Tap - City of American Canyon Water Process
Water is one of our most precious resources.
In California, some cities are fortunate to rely on their own reservoir, river or well for water. Here in American Canyon, though, the City purchases nearly all our water from the State Water Project. Designed, constructed, operated and maintained by the California Department of Water Resources, the State Water Project collects water in 21 reservoirs and distributes the water throughout the state using more than 700 miles of canals and pipelines. The State Water Project supplies water for 25 million Californians and 750,000 acres of irrigated farmland.
This video illustrates the journey American Canyon's drinking water makes from its source high up in the Sierra Mountains to our taps.
