Rattlesnake in California's Sugarloaf Ridge State Park near Santa Rosa - DSCN8115DSCN8119
7/31/2015 - As I walking along the Meadows Trail near the Observatory, I had the good fortune to see this rattlesnake as it crossed the trail and went into the grass (See this video: ). Later, it exited the grass to cross the nearby Hillside Trail, which is caught on this video. I was also amused to see a towhee bird fly to a branch just above the snake and carefully watch it, as this video ( )shows. Both the bird and the snake are a bit difficult to see, but both are there.

Nowadays, water and water rights are among the most discussing political issues in California. Lacking reliable dry season rainfall, water is limited in the most populous U.S. state. Lt. Colonel Gabe Griess also showed his anxious attitude about the problem of water crisis in Santa Rosa. He accentuates that water’ importance is evident.
Lieutenant Colonel Gabe Griess grew up in a farming community. His parents were teachers, and he graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is a board member with the Solano Community College Educational Foundation, Rebuilding Together Solano, Vacaville Rotary Club, and a trustee with the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post. Gabe is married to the love of his life, Kristie, and they have three children: Preston, age five; Mikayla, age four; and Harrison, age one. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he was assigned to navigate C-130 Super Hercules aircraft and was deployed to Afghanistan. The son of two teachers is a board member for the Solano Community College Educational Foundation, Rebuilding Together Solano and the Vacaville Rotary Club. He is also a trustee with the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post. His door-to-door campaigning in the district shows deep dissatisfaction with the way things are in state politics, Griess said.
Santa Rosa is a city in and the county seat of Sonoma County, California, United States. Its estimated 2014 population was 174,170. Santa Rosa is the largest city in California's North Coast, Wine Country and the North Bay; In the nearby Valley of the Moon is Jack London State Historic Park, which contains the ruins of his home, Wolf House; a museum where the writer’s original manuscripts are displayed; and his grave. Also nearby are Annadel, Bothe–Napa Valley, and Sugarloaf Ridge state parks; Santa Rosa–Petaluma Metro Area; Santa Rosa–Petaluma Metro Area.
Gabriel Griess accords a special attention to the quality of water Santa Rosa and in whole California. Mr. Griess is looking for a good storage and improving of water recycling. Further, he is going to bring on new technologies like solar thermal desalination.
Gabriel Griess is different from other candidates because he is not a career politician. He is simply someone who has ideas for change and pledges to be different from politicians. Gabe Griess has an intention to do everything within his power to make people's life better. Vote for Mr. Griess! Vote for a better life!

Metal Detecting History...Success! Fountaingrove Utopian Community (Part 2)
There were approximately 25 Utopian communities across the United States, most of which were founded in the mid-to late 1800's. Fountaingrove, just to the NorthWest of Santa Rosa, California, was one of the successful ones, and it was the fourth one begun by Thomas Lake Harris. Three were in New York state and the last in California. Harris's lieutenant here in California was a Japanese man named Nagasawa. he came to California by way of Hong Kong and he oversaw quite a great operation at Fountaingrove. A winery was established and it was very successful, even though the Utopian community folded. At it's peak there were over 300 people in residence.
Anyway, they had three big houses, all of which burned down, a blacksmith shop, a winery operation, and even a piggery. It was this site we hoped to detect today.
