Editor's Note: This article contains graphic images and descriptions. The photo is haunting, a vivid reminder of the danger many face when they try to cross into the United States. It shows the human toll of a crisis at the border that's often debated with abstract statistics and detached policy arguments. The image of the Salvadoran father and his daughter lying face down in the water of the Rio Grande, part of the US border with Mexico, is a heartbreaking testimony to the suffering behind the numbers. For months, advocates have been warning that deaths at the border would increase, as migrants are forced to cross in more dangerous areas by US policies that make it harder for those seeking asylum to turn themselves in at ports of entry. Oscar Alberto Martinez and his daughter, identified by officials from El Salvador as Angie Valeria M., drowned in the currents of the Rio Grande on Sunday as they tried to slip into the United States. Their bodies were found Monday near Matamoros, across the river from Brownsville, Texas. The child was 2 years old, The Associated Press reported. The photograph was taken by journalist Julia Le Duc, who lives in Mexico. In the image, the young girl is tucked inside her father's shirt, her right arm slung around his neck as they lie near the shore. Their bodies have come to rest near a river bank where five discarded beer cans and an empty soda bottle sit in the tall reeds. Another beer can floats next to the girl's body. The photo evoked memories of a 3-year-old Syrian boy, Aylan Kurdi, whose body washed up on a beach in Turkey. The iconic 2015 image of the drowned toddler lying in the sand continues to stir discussion over policies toward migrants. The deaths of the father and child prompted Salvadoran Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexandra Hill to beg her countrymen to stay and work with the government as it tries to solve the economic issues that cause many to look to migrate north. Our country is in mourning, again. I beg you, to all the families, parents, don't risk it. Life is worth a lot more, she added. Hill said the government is working with Mexican authorities to repatriate the remains. El Salvador's newly elected President Nayib Bukele said the government would help the family financially. He now lives in Portland, Maine(he likes it alot there, you probably would too) writes too many love poems and not nearly enough of his novel. He is a proud(mistake prone)father of four, but he tries real hard. He has opened for or shared stages with Regie Gibson, my brightest diamond, Buddy Wakefield, Kurtis Blow, Jason Carney, Brother Ali, Andrea Gibson, Charlie Neville, and Patricia Smith, headlined his own tours of the northeast, south, and midwest, is a member of Port Veritas, guyslikeyou, and the nationally touring group Uncomfortable Laughter, and an honorary member of the Chicago 4 Star poetry ensamble. His mentors include Billy Tuggle, John survivor Blake, Jason Carney, Ryk McIntyre, and Nick Fox(you should not hold any of that against him). There are many raw things about Wil Gibson's poetry. I say that only in that, as a poet, his poetry is raw and young in the sense that it doesn't always know how to behave in public. Armored Truck Employee Fired After Being Robbed
A Colorado Brinks truck driver was fired following a robbery last month in Greenwood Village. Sabrina Gimeno, a mother of three, returned to her Brinks truck on Oct. 30, pushing a cart loaded with money she had picked up at a bank. After opening the vehicle's rear door, three armed, masked men jumped out of an SUV and forced her to her knees, telling her to put her hands in the air. As one gunmen kept his weapon aimed at her head, the other two helped themselves to over $100,000 in cash.

I don't know about you, but I jump at any chance I get to squeeze a quick ride in after a long days work! It doesn't matter if I can't get to my favorite gnarly trail or even if I only get to ride for an hour, these rides are such a great day to melt away the stresses of the day and relax.
I especially love a good solo sunset ride where I can just let my mind wander while I enjoy the natural beauty around me. It's certainly a different kind of ride from my normal shred mentality, but nonetheless it's a type of ride I love and one that serves a very distinct purpose.
Obviously getting to drop back in to work afterwards for a beer with the guys doesn't hurt either ;)
